Being 85 at awakening vs. being below 85

Can anyone explain the major difference? From what I read it looks like whether or not you are 85 does not make a difference in the sense of being able to get to 99. The only difference is that the people who are 85 can awaken and be one of the new classes at the time GoD hits. Those who are below 85 won't awaken but once they hit 85, they can change their class, correct?
You can get 99lvl without awakening quest.
Would make as much sense as leveling to 85 without doing your first class change...
There's really no point in playing 85+ without awakening, because no one will invite you to party.

As tank you will have better agro and stuns, as enchanter better bufs, as healer better heals..

Ok, well here's an example:

Let's say you have a level 79. GoD hits months later and you're 83. You can't awaken, but once you hit 85, you do your fourth class transfer, yes? And part of this class transfer also includes having your stats essentially doubled, right?

I guess what I am trying to understand is why do the mad rush to 85, when GoD will have higher exp hunting grounds for all levels? This also should make getting to at least 85 easier than it is now, yes?

Thanks again.
Yes you are right since its going be real easy to get to 85 in GoD theres relly no diffrnce if you are 85 now or later.

essentially, yes. at 85 when the update hits you can awaken, however its the quest for the stone of destiny (much like the quest for the mirmir elixer) to awaken.

we arent yet sure just how easy it will be to get to 85 tho. yes they are lowering the threshold, however they are increasing mob difficulty in some general AI respects. all of that bright shiny new R gear is going to need element stones too, so making a group for a stone rich area is going to be hellish - especially for someone not already geared. heaven help anyone who isnt in at least dyn/icarus before the update.

Actually, the Stone of Destiny you get for being 76+ at the time GoD goes live. The quest allows you to communicate with your Giant archetype, while the stone lets you communicate with any of the Giants.

Wrong. Your stats are inflated since your lvl 1 in GoD.

Inflated = doubled in numbers, but not in the actual effect. The new 2X stat has the same effect as the old X one. It's done so that NCsoft doesn't need to do +0.5 STR and such when rebalancing stats between races.

Thanks for clearing that up. :)
the question is , why arent you lv 85 by now o_O ? tons of vit pots and dbl events , i wish i woulda have had that back when i lvled from 1-83 :O
one dbl xp event boom lv 85 100% :O
I'm not so sure, that the leveling under lvl 85 will be slower at the end. Between lvl 1-40 sure, that it will much more faster.

But after start need much more xp to a level now, that we have nevit blessing, vitality herbs and we can use vitality items without limit it is much faster as it would be really.

In the GD we will loose the Nevit, the vitality herbs we will can use only 5 vitality items on a week and 1 vitality restore after a maintenance.

So the combination of these items and buffs gives now about 4-5 times faster XP constantly.

So, you will can feel only, that the leveling time under lvl 85 is really become faster, if the developers decrease to requirement xp to make a level up to the 10% of currently levels.

Like, if u make 10% on lvl 40 now under 20 minutes (without vit and nevit) in the GD you have to make level up under 20 minutes (without vit and nevit what will be delete too).

In my particular situation, I can only play about 4-5 hours per week. At level 78 Vit 4 and 3 get used up pretty quick. With Nevit's and Vit 3 and 4, I got roughly 20% the other day (during this week) in one hour. And if I am on the right time this week, I can get my Vit set to maximum and grind some more.

However, once this event week is over with, it's going to be slooow leveling, for me at least.

Oh god, can we please just let this argument die a quiet death. We've already discussed and beaten this subject into a pulpy mess. The reasons for not being level 85 at this juncture are multitude and just not worth dredging up again (see 7th anniversary lvl 80 cloak gift discussion thread).

Thanks.
