I’m looking for a friendly group of players who want to have fun. I know that I can’t be competitive at this level when it comes to pvp and that my class isn’t necessarily the most useful in groups but I also have an SE 74 who may be of some use.

As 78 you should be able to find some parties and catch up top people quite fast.
As we are not pure PvE clan, and we have some wars you'll get chance practice pvp having some insights how things has been changed.

Not all enemies running 85,100 to hunt GC.
In GC, 78 tank in party can leech easy not dying and getting 80 really fast.
As I remember we have already few new fellows who are in that range and they doing quite well, soon they should be 80.
Ofc when (mostly LoD ...not sure why!) almost full party of 84+ is coming to 'fight' with 5 people in GC .. he will not learn much, but still it is minority.
Majority of PvP are top levels in DV/Stakato area.
Rest of PvP are rather at exp spots, so mostly same levels fighting eachother, in places like:
Dino/DoE/Crypt :)
