Secret Ritual of the Priests is awful

I cannot get past these guards because the detection is so wildly inconsistent. Seriously, how is anyone supposed to do this? Guards detect you at different places, even on the OTHER side of the room or hallway.
Do a search for "epic quest" "part 4".

This is nothing new, and has been covered before.

Everyone who has finished Seven signs before today (and believe me, they are not few), have gotten past that.

Keep trying.

Oh, and good luck :D

I don't know what else to do. My clannies say it's because of the server lag and what you see on the screen isn't really what the server thinks. That's just great.
So try it tomorrow.

Maybe less lag then?

ive done it 20+ times and never had a problem...

Well, I finally did it.

This was not fun at all. :P Whoever is responsible for this type of quest has issues and must go see a therapist to deal with their fascination of inflicting pain onto others. Seriously, this person is that disturbed and needs help.
What about the person that can beat it in under 7 min? :o

You must be thankful there's no xp loss in that instance. :p

Yes, that is the one saving grace about that whole thing. :D
I commiserate entirely. Took me a few hours to get through that (mainly due to lag issues being here in New Zealand!).

That said, once I finally figured out the proper spacing/timing (and no lag) I got through. However, unlike other quests in L2, I actually felt like I had accomplished something. Oh well, to each their own (but I am happy you managed to get through!) :)

Inch.

Cool. I'll hire you to do mine on another toon next time. :D

I've done it ~10 times, some tries were easy pie and others took multiple reloads. Sometimes the guards are in a pattern that you just can't get past.

yes that does happen sometimes. the only place i know it to happen is in the long hall w/ the right turn 2nd set of guards and it can be fixed by timing it out and getting caught by only the 1st guard in that set. when you go back the pattern should have changed.

Yea that's the spot and the solution.

This quest is optional... sometimes you have to take responsibility for your own lack of skill and not blame the developers for providing you a challenging event in the game.

It's not so much a lack of skill when more than one person have the same issues with the quest. :)
Why you ppl start complain when you get something a bit harder than plain mob killing? And yet you all complain that plain mob killing is boring and you want more interesting game.

My original complaint was that the detection zones were not consistent from one time to the next, not that it was difficult, per se. Example: First guard detects you in stealth right next to him. Second time, same guard, same hallway, he detects you in stealth, when he is on the other side of the hallway. That's not consistent.

Getting through it is pretty straightforward IF the detection zones are consistent. The fact that they are not because of lag adds a dimension that cannot necessarily be ascertained with any regularity. It then becomes a game of chance versus skill.
Yes it is about chance, but the quest is no longer needed. It was when ppl were stuck a month+ at level 79 and many quit or joined bot clans for that, but today it is irelevant XP wise. The bracelet may be a nice to have, aa is still worth something, but the quest lost much of its importance otherwise and will lose more.
I agree it is hard and sometimes impossible to finish in a few hours if really unlucky/lag, etc, it used to be frustrating for me, but now i just skip it. Thank god for part 2 which does not need part 1 done. It is one of the few fun quests, it is natural to have some challenge, arcade ppl should have their way for once...

It is needed to start the lvl 81 quest, which gives you a forgotten book of your choice. Some of the available books are still quite expensive.

The detection zones are consistent and easy to see, unless you lag.
I think you didn't understand the whole thing. Stealth in this area isn't about reducing the detection range. There are guards you need stealth to pass (then you can make faces or bunny ears behind their back) and others you just have to avoid their circle of detection. There are fix guards with fixed detection zone that will always be fatal. There are guards moving and with them their detection circle, creating safe zones where they can't reach you and dangerous zones where you need to anticipate their moves to pass.

The only part of chance is how the couples of guards are set in the last room. It can force you to get detected by purpose once or twice to arrange them correctly.
If you want to complain about chance, try the rest of L2. It's everywhere else. Not in this part of the quest. It's about timing.

Read the bolded text. I mentioned this in an earlier post.

Yes, there is chance in L2. I wasn't bringing attention to that particular mechanic that is intended to have x probability of whatever. This had to do with, again, due to server lag issues, inconsistent detection zones. I do not believe the original coders/designers of the quest intended for these guards to have random detection zones.

This would indicate to me there are more than one persons that are lacking skills when thousands have done this quest, hell I have done it 3 times and found it amusing and fun.

Boils down to SKILLZ!

Look, I know some people get off bragging about how much "skill" they have on these forums, but really, enough is enough. There is absolutely no way to verify that you did it in less time or that it's soooo easy for you. For all I/we know you could be making it all up.

Yes, OTHERS have done it - some in less time, some in more time (in my particular case - more time). Why do you want to brag so much? I don't understand why that's so important to you.

I don't recall bragging about how quick I did this quest are how easy it was for me or my friends. All I said was I enjoyed the challenge.

Stop being so defensive, its not very becoming a daughter of Zeus... goddess of the underworld.

Hum, at level 81 without doing 79 one got popup saying i can start it. Didnt test actually yet, but I will soon.

Let us know how that went MaoMao.

I tried it for an hour or so, on a couple of occasions.. then gave up.

I would like to say that a friend did it for me, but that would be against the EULA, and so of course they didn't.
I think I deserve a reward for completing this quest 5 times with 200-300ms ping ^^

I've had times where I was detected on one side of the corridor and the guard was on the opposite (e.g. supposedly the furthest possible distance I can be away from the guard :x)

I've completed the quest at varying times... I once did it in one swift run, that took about 15min (i was being cautious), and another time it took 3 hrs :x
This Part 4 isnt ment to be an easy going. And yes, i LOVE this part.
It's a challenge. The first time i did the Quest i was close to be in the need of a new keyboard
But as i finally managed it the first time (after like 2 1/2hours) i felt so freaking good that i achieved it.
Right now i did it like uhm 16-20 times i think. And still the time i spend varies from 8min up to close 2h (last time i did).

Edit: And i have DSL light Version (so rly high ping). It is doable, just dont give up.

This
Challenge is a bit low today, this quest is still funny :)
Just check the video. All you need to know is that if the guards don't sync you won't eve pass. Don't loose your time trying unless they walk correctly. Just fall onto them and start again.

It's only one rough spot. If you are lucky you will need to get there 2-3 times. If you are a bit unlucky, you may need to get to that part 10-15 times. If you know what to do when guards walk correctly you will pass.

Though I have to admit that it's a rough edge it's doable. Last time I did it I almost broke my keyboard.

I was lucky to find guards walking correctly with second try and I passed. It took less that 10 minutes to do the hard part .. Somehow (I guess by overestimating myself) I managed to hit the timeout for the rest that would normaly take me about 10 minute more (max)

Next time, I was focused, cautious, relaxed, not tired, I did the hard part in 30 minutes and finished the quest after 10 minutes more. I know people that done the quest so many times that it takes them about 10 minutes to finish it .. With some practise, after 2-3 failed tries, you will make it.. Just study the youtube video carefully. You have enough time so you can pause it and switch back and fort between youtube and l2 client ..

Dracha, this has nothing to do with skills.
Like i mentioned before here: http://www.youtube.com/all_comments?v=EEcDdS5yfhc

The stealth quest concept is good and solid on it's own, but doesn't work properly in a game that is sensitive to latency (varying on time/place/etc)

Indeed, I forgot to mention, apart from the NEED to find a specific, single set of guards synced (you won't ever pass until that) you have no chance to pass, even if correctly synced & you know exactly what to do, if you lag a lot.
