What do you do when you hit a wall?

I. Can't. Go. On. The Prophet/Hierophant grind is killing me.

I've made it a goal the first half of the year to get the prophet to 78. Just 78. At the beginning of the year it was only 64. I don't play much. Well, not xp'ing.

But I'm at 77.74% and I'm sick of looking at the #$^*. This toon blows! From it's frumpy look, to it's pathetically un-group-worthy buff capacity. Sickening! I've forgotten why I even bothered to roll a prophet in the first place. I think once it dings 78 I will stab it in the neck with a rusty Sword of Solidarity and litter its carcass along Antharas' Lair.

What about you? Have you hit a wall with one of your characters? Let's hear about it. Group therapy is the best therapy.
I usually take a long walk or bike ride. If that doesn't help I would call some friends and meet up with them, with any luck spending time with them will take your mind off of L2!
Setting goals is not a good policy, but I wont hit you when you are down, just some advice:
1. Look for a good clan. One that doesnt look at your combat abilities, one that doesnt care for your gear, one that only looks at the person behind the toon.
2. Go with the flow. Dont look at the xp gauge, dont solo, find an archer and make constant parties, or get a wolf and milk for it (expensive and not worth, in general, unless rb, better party)
3. We have a hierophant in clan. Joined at about 78 or below one month+ ago, now is 80+ and sub is already too high for rb 75. He comes in parties in transform because he feels unneeded as we have DC of course, but transformed and with wolf he is raising, he does moderate dmg, even tho we didnt ask him to.

Leaving this aside, I tried to roll a prophet 2 times. FIrst one didnt want to become prophet, even if name is ImperialProphet, is in fact bishop, secons, named ip2 from imperialprophet2 became warlock, so no luck there either, as such I didnt try anymore, so no prophet here...

I've been working on my main being a PP for a while and it frustrates me enough to quit for a couple months at a time. Best thing i can suggest is to use it as a box or get a wolf. I refused to use my PP as a box and that's one of the biggest reasons why i took forever to level. Especially now that the DCs have zerk, no one really takes PPs anymore unless you are like good friends with them, and i always felt guilty of being pretty useless. I do a lot of soloing with my PP, the best way to go is transformed. When you get high enough if you like using nukes, you can go to fields of whisper and move your camera under the water and look for slayer herbs, when you get those you can 1 hit nuke/root the mobs there. I do that to solo when i don't have a party so i don't spend an entire day in town waiting for a party. I'm sure it would be the best bet to reroll but if you've toughed it out this long i guess that isn't an option for you. My name is Zoc and i'm only 81 but if you need a hand with anything shoot me a PM.
Tag along with a melee in SV, that should give you some xp, they should like your buffs, they can get VR from herbs.
I hit a wall many times with my BH, but with help from friends and clan mates I’ve managed to smash right through them. :)

Only advise I can give you is pickup anyone you find looking for a group, you can very effectively duo with an archer or any DD. I’m sure they will appreciate not having to buy expensive milks.
Group therapy is the best therapy.

I hitted a wall when my archer was 79. I just couldn't stand it anymore, I was totally burned out. Playing it seemed like a chore. With last ditch effort I leveled it to 80.
Then I decided to leave my past behind and set free. I rerolled to cardi.

My name is Falconaitae and today I'm a happy person. :P
Make alts of classes you don't have and go have fun killing and leveling quick. If you are a friend has a clan with an Academy enroll them before level 6. Once you get to level 39 collecting the Quest Diamonds for their second class transfer. At level 40 you can do the class transfer quest or pay 3 million to get the CRP. (repeat and rinse)

Gets you out of the high level grind and you still get to enjoy the game from a different point of view.
some classes are not for everybody, and pp is one of those classes
I would say get GC party but as you don't have POF yet, very unlikely you can mooch your way into one unless there is a dire shortage of DC and you can get into a party with SE that can give VR and will do POW and you do the rest of the buffs. Altho I did get in a GC party with no prophecy the other day, it was doable but not ideal.

the lvl 79 wall is the biggest xp wall in game, after that it's still as slow and slower, but seems better. Getting to 78 very easy now. I have two lvl 80 alts and taking quite some time to get 81, it's annoying. And I won't xp them w/o full vit and nevits and it's still pretty slow. back in the day I was 79 on my main for over a year, that was a nightmare and truly had to find an inner spring of determination to keep going. Fortunately they introduced the epic quest which really helped because I was able finally to get 80, and then when we could do it again, got 81 or 82 I forget now which. smooth sailing after that. but this game will truly test your patience...

But of any toon, PP is probably the hardest to level, for sure. can't even solo nuke like bishop. And totally agree on frumpy. can't **** the looks of human mages myself.

just have /partymatching window up all the time and get into some kind of party, even if you have to beg/plead/bribe. and GC is the best and easiest party xp for everyone.
lol ppl still play prophet !?!
Hehe,i can see how a buffer below 78 (and without vr)feels on the days of fast2LVL85.

I remember one 77 lvl wc crying in old clan, take me to party, someone, plsss,i miss 40% for cov!

My wall was on my main when there was no vit from 80-83,all 3 lvls seemed like ages,i hated myself,l2,bots that were allready 85,everyone.

My trick was to lvl in place i was also making money from drops,my lvl was still the same after months of hiting, but my seller had things to sell everynight. :)

Leveling with 1 more person(or party)always makes it easier even if it slows down the xp so,i was inviting often someone just to make pikup and chat.

My ultimate weapon on times of solo grind boredom,is to listen to my nice playlists. :)
yea I used to be incredibly jealous of ppl's boxes being higher level than myself

more recently was incredibly jealous of every random no-name in vorpal light

but i'm ok now

Let's be honest here, the XP in Plains sucks (so not 85 so soon), but otherwise it's a good idea.

Doesn't sound like you like your class. Is there a reason you MUST play prophet?

DC offers buffs AND debuffs AND attack damage, SE/EE/Cardi can buff AND heal. While some play it extremely well for PVP, there's still no damage output. The only reason for a PP today is level 83 counter critical and a few resists, and there are many PP still on the server that are boxed for that purpose.

The reason a PP has trouble getting a party is because it would have to replace someone... who would the party give up? Damage/buffs or heals or debuffs/heals?

The only thing to recommend PP as a live player is you can buff the party, say you're out of MP and sit for 15 min afk while everyone around you fights. How is that playing a game and what do you like about it?

Maybe you should consider rerolling for your own better enjoyment of the game. At 78, your prophet doesn't have the only thing people really want from a prophet... countercritical.

Honestly, with your knowledge of the game now, you may find leveling another toon to 78 will take as long as it will take you to get that 27% on a very hard to group class.
What debuff besides dreamin spirit and stun would that be? Which could be argued are more crowd control than debuffs.

Maybe you have DC mixed up with OL?

+1 Being a support class with an archer has been a pretty good duo since day one. Especially a Prophet where you keep getting root for mob control (if needed). I would always use root if more than one mob were pulled to keep the archer from getting hit and it gives ya something to do. :)
There is no better xp for a solo archer or duo archer/pp than Plains of the Lizardmen; the Holy Crystal Quest at the same time makes the place even more unbelieveable. In fact, when levelling there 79 - 85 the place makes you feel like you are playing a different game than L2.

I dont understand how anyone plays this game without aoe'ing..

like srsly.. you be better off making yourself a titan and making friends with a bd/sws and then going and pulling fog or something..

If i had to log in everyday and kill mob to mob i would have quit 4 years ago.
Zomg, this is also the story of my PP! She was the second toon I ever made and she is still level 65. And has been for about five years, might I add. So sad. I even made a DC in the interim cuz I couldn't take it. He's almost 82 now. And you're right! My prophet is horribly frumpy. I occasionally put her in heavy talum just to pretend she's really a level 80 PP with a gladdy sub. Until I send her out to xp as a fake gladdy and reality sinks in...

/dirtnap.

Poor little battle prophet. What happened to our love?

when I first hit 79 I figured this out also and most of my xp during 79 and 80 was solo AOE once I found a place to do it. That was before nevits and such, and xp was still a very slow nightmare, so AOE was the only slightly tolerable way to do it. and I had my SE box so it was possible to solo it.

but not everyone has a pocket titan or all the supports necessary to AOE, nor the correct main class or all the right friends. even lolkamael is better at aoe than archer :x many ppl can't afford another account or even run a 2nd box so, lucky they are persistent enough to still play!

but now we have nevits and lots of vit pops and some double xp events, and there are many places you can single target kill and get xp at a decent rate. ofc AOE is always better but, the daily nevits bonus alone makes single target ok, if you know where to go. Just xp for that one hour, consistently every day. Get in GC party, it's good xp even in full party.

back when nevits starting counting down as soon as you logged in, I would log out every night with full buffs at eastern delusion and every single morning I would log in and immediately xp for an hour in there till it was gone. for many months. but a strong dd main makes a big difference; I can single target relatively efficiently because I can kill quickly. Many other classes can't do that...

Blame it on the false sense of achievement otherwise known as "want to." :o

The prophet isn't my main, but having created it eons ago... back when people actually considered prophets valuable buffers, and Demon Gloves, if you lucked into a pair, cost 30M adena, and AQ's sold for bazillions of adena...I somehow got the notion that this year was as good a time as any to level it to 78. My grandfather used to say that there's no point in imagining a gigantic mountain if you can't also envision the crazy idiot that's willing to climb it. Well, here I am. Finally.

Thanks to all for the anecdotes and advice. As it turns out, business has picked up at the office, which gives me a much needed breather. I'll come back to leveling the prophet next week.

And the minute after it dings 78, I'll start the Orc mystic > shaman > warcryer > doomcryer.

Makes sense to me:). If you want to play active support, DC is next best choice.... but is also often boxed, but you will have an easier time finding a party.

Keep one thing in mind... COV lasts 5 minutes, and your party will want it CONSTANTLY. This means you will spend roughly 250K per hour playing (cheapest spirit ore = 500a x (40 COV per 5 min + 3 for Warchant or Earth per 5 min) = 21,500a per 5 minutes of active party time x 12/hour = 258,000a per hour grouped or solo requiring COV. You will make roughly 1 mil/hour... so you will have to subsidize your DC for gear. That doesn't touch on gate chant costs of 4 summon crystals per caste.

As a PP, you have no such expenses, so keep this in mind before you go DC.
Beer + Vent/TS or Music and simply grind grind grind with a fix % per day is my way to pass the wall.

I think that one might actually be a main titan. Unless I have him confused with someone with a very ironic name.

i prefer tea but yes, it's a very good way to passing the wall

:)

i remember the time we were in need of at least 6 monthes to go from 74 to 75 ...

XP nowadays is quite easy to get !!!
I used to fix a minimum per day of 1.5-2% a day @80, back when I was mostly soloing and before high5 update with the big xp boosts (dv etc included). However, with vit pots and the new spots around now, XP is far easier to get and you dont really need to set a % per day minimum just so long as you get the right groups.

The groups are the secret. You need a high level group in a prime XP spot; then you won't feel slow XP anymore.
Also being a lil crazy helps too ^^
As i wanted to reach 85 asap i played on the weekend in DV Party and after that as all went to bed i xped another 2-3h in GC small rooms with my SE + BD in party ;)
Top was like 4h DV and then another 6h in GC using saved nevits hourglass + bday pot etc. (ye i know the problem with adena, lol ^^ )

How do you think we xp'd in the old days?
Biggest wall I found was 75 to 76 on my SE (this was a long time ago BTW). Not because the XP was so much but because it was hard to find parties. Once I hit 78, leveling was super easy.

Same with my Doomcryer, but at least her I could solo in SV. Either way, 70-77 was one slow painful era.

In any case, as a live support player (I only play support) I feel your pain and if you play in Chronos, there is always room for a PP in my party ^^

This lol. I'm so with you, I'd stab myself in the ******* eye if I had to single target to 85. I'm 85/80/80/80 now, so I'll single target to farm ele stones or w/e in delusion, but yea for xp it's AOE or ****.
Can't level up PP by soloing.. well technically you can, but takes forever.
You need to make a party. Usually in Korea, PP are the ones creates the hunting group, using the matching system.

I find it strange that over here ppl prefers WC, in Korea, ppl prefers PP.
when i hit a wall... i usually bounce off it .... pickmyself up if i fell... and hope i didn't get a bloody nose or broke anything...

after which i make sure to avoid that wall, because clearly i didn't see it the first time....

I find it sad that some clan on Bartz in Korea bullied the other players so they had to fight them naked.

What a sad sad community, why cant they all just get along?

People think they need vr when they don't even domi's have a hard time without an se in the pty when most of the time in reality vr dance is enough =.= But I think the biggest reason is just that most prophets people think of as being slow to buff. A wc can buff a party quickly where as a prophet has to single buff everyone. A good prophet can do this easily in an xp pty(pvp might be a little different) Mp and sitting down isnt the prophets of today. Prophets who take part in hitting the mobs can regen mp faster than those who buff and sit.

BD and Prophets make a good duo. I personal always liked ptying with an se, but when I was lvling my bd in SV especially after 74 when I got vr dance I preffered the prophet. Party'd with Zoc out there often was nice having the zerk, poison resist, and GM.

I'm sorri to turn down buffers from GC who are not 78, but if I'm exp there I want prophecy. Therefore the only way I'd invite a 77 prophet is if there was a se or ee in pty that was willing to buff everyone with it. It's nothing against the prophet its against the lvl a 77 toon is too low. However if your a clannie I make things work so you can get in pty =p.
What makes you think you need a prophecy in GC?

If you can go without VR buff everywhere else, why not skip the prophecy in GC?

And yes, I have been in a party where they didnt put up COV. It wasnt even needed. And I was playing healer. Well, more like stigma, coz they didnt need heals either. And yes, it was lower GC.

Think outside the box.

A true word.
Too many ppl only start to xp if they have dc + bd + sws + se/ee

The time they waste lf the perfect party they could easily xp a lot more.
Needing prophecies in GC depends on party setup, gear and levels of the Partymembers. Most time i feel the difference between cov and no cov very strong on my mana bar.

For walls. I set a goal. usally 1%.

And I avoid aoe groups like the plague. I prefer single target :)

Falexi SS
VR have no effect on kill speed (unless healer needs to spam heal and rest), but prophecies increases kill speed. The only time you don't really need prophecy is when the group can handle the area without prophecy and the mobs are not respawning fast enough or the group don't really care about exp... 8-) lol. Yet I do know lots of people prefer to just stand there and wait (fully buffed) for respawn lol
