Tomorrow we're doing some hardware connection maintenance in the office that has our Chronos server. We do not expect that it will happen, but there is a possibility that Chronos will experience a disconnect due to the maintenance.
The maintenance will take place on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at 5am PDT / 7am CDT / 8am EDT / 12pm UTC/GMT and will last 1 hour.
Again, Chronos might disconnect, and it might not. If it does, it should be over after 1 hour.
Out of curiosity, where are Chronos and Naia located? I mean, their cities...
Well, many players have figured it out already, which is fine, but the most we will officially say is that Chronos is in the CST timezone and Naia is in the GMT +1/+2 timezone (the + thing varies during daylight savings). Knowing the timezones of the servers helps players plan their gaming around the server times, which effect scheduled things like raid resets, sieges, etc.

It was in austin Texas when it started (if i'm recalling it right) at the NCSoft Headquarters..
it was moved to Seattle a number of years back and then about a year and a half ago it was moved back to austin texas...
Now the seattle location is still a headquarters.. but the server placement is in the states..
Sace... while her location states seattle... i do beleive she is in austin... i'm not entirely sure.
All i know is Traceroutes for the severs end in the austin texas backbone....
My pings and gameplay is significantly improved when the servers were located in seattle, out of the "internet Black hole zone" known as the central united states usually around Texas.

Sace is in Seattle, with the rest of the production and community team iirc. The GMs and server nerds are in Austin.
i just know that when i was offered a job for NC NA... i was required to work in texas and be stationed there....
GM positions or any NCSoft Position you MUST work within one of ncsoft buildings .... unlike some games/software developers/admins and such that allow people to be hired and work from their homes or from other secure locations
Actually a **** good number of games or software companies hire a lot of people that work from their homes.... some are on call 24/7....
NCSoft doesn't do this at all... unless that has change in the last 3 or 4 years since i was last offered a position.

iirc - their main "data center" is in DFW - and from your posts Judas (tech related) and I am making a guess to the position you might have applied for, I can see why you would have to be located in DFW. Also depends on when you applied - for a long time NCNA was located in DFW.
For Naia - iirc it is in Hamburg, Germany
The servers were never located in Seattle - perhaps the PTS might be.
Neither sites are 100% safe against natural disasters, but I would assume that they have a disaster recovery site that is not located at either locations.
i'm having a bit of a hard time for some reason doing searches on these forums.. mostly due to the gaud **** cookies or server for the forum still being a hunk of **** and logging me out everytime i try to do anything...
but i manged to snag this little bit...
All servers will be down for an extended maintenance Tuesday, August 17th at 7am PDT / 9am CDT / 10am EDT / 2pm UTC/GMT. Estimated downtime is approximately 10 hours.
You may have noticed several maintenance notices regarding other NCsoft servers moving to data centers recently. Now it's our turn! :) During this maintenance, the Lineage II game servers are being restarted inside of a new data center. Previously, the North American servers were located in either Los Angeles or Washington, DC. Now, all of the North American servers will be located in Dallas, TX.
The North American servers are: Aria, Bartz, Devianne, Phoenix and Sayha.
As you can see.. the "datacenters" and such have been created and since the servers themeselves have moved around a bit as well..
While the indication of where exactly the servers are located can be more easily determined by trace routing... i'm very positive i recall one of the announcements made that the datacenters were being transferred from seattle to texas...
this is when the chance in the traceroutes showed this change... perhaps it wasn't necessarily seattle... but LA... i just know that when the server in which i initially stated the game was in texas .... the lag was much worse.. and throught seattle was much much better.

Funny, sometimes, xFire does drop an IP for the Lineage II server you're on. For me (Naia) oddly enough the IP tells Austin Texas (perhaps that's why I lag a lot at times? :(
