Well, I tried.

So, I came back to L2 after 7 years being a way to give it another try. I had a lot of fun during the double-xp week(s) as I could see my character moving up in levels and was hopeful for the day I could join the elites one day. Now that the customer appreciation week(s) are over the leveling has slowed down tremendously and I doubt I'll ever catch the high level players.

The above combined with the inability to make any adena (legally) for future gear just feels hopeless.

So, alas, I'm out again. I'm envious of you that are already lv 80+. At least at that level you can group up with others.
Perhaps give it another try in a few months. I recall reading that they plan to drastically reduce the level grind. Granted, this has also been said with past expansions.

I can't quite agree with the not making money. There is not a single activity that will not net Adena. It should also be noted that the sell shops in town are not a proper reflection of the item's worth or value.
So it got since it got harder to exp and the game asked you to invest some time and mind to figure out how to make some adena you leave?

And if you think that a player 80+ or 83+ is consider an elite then you are terribly
missinformed!!

just a friendly advise play the game so to spent your time happily, with small daily goals or else all games will look the same as l2
not many mmo games will give you top gear/levels/skills after 2 weeks. while I am surprised you came back to a game you left 7 years ago, I would say that it is worth the time if you stick around. put in time in a good clan and they can help you with gear depending on what you need. This would require you stick around longer than 2 weeks tho....
Well, don't be any MMO what put you to the top players under 2 weeks. Don't forget also, that not enough if you have high level and many adena, if you don't know the game.

You told you played 7 years ago it was Lineage II, now after 7 years is Lineage II High Five Part 5. To can join the most of funs you have to be about 76 noblesse nowadays.

You can do it under a month and can get an average gear too.

But yes to be top player far not enough 2 weeks. "top players" have to play 2-3 years too as in any another MMO.

But I say to you that follow the lineage2.com when will release the Goddess of Destruction live, there the leveling process won't be so hard anymore as we heard will be easier to get average gear by quests (but you won't be top player don't forget if you will have too same level as the top players or same gear).

If it will be still too hard than Lineage 2 isn't your video game.

Sounds like you should go back to WoW then.

This game isnt for ppl that want an easy game, in this game you have to work a bit for your gear and lvls. And it's not hard at all to make adena either, you just need to figure out how to do it. Or you can come here and make a crythread about it, but I'm not sure the person that did that actually got any money from it, and now that thread is closed >.<

I suggest you try a brand new web browser game. You will probably be among the top players in no time at all :D

My goal was a level per day. Everything beyond was a bonus. After lvl 60 this formula broke. 8 hours doing trains with newbie buff (which never allow you to just point and click you always have to do something in order to stay alive) brought to total exhaustion and earned just 60-70% .. i force myself 30 more percent get the dang level and /emoquit from the game picking to play assassin's creed brotherhood or mass effect 2 instead >.<

@Smittie there are browser games that earn more money for month than NCNA for 6 months and ever more :D without subscriptions =)

@ sk1pper. It was not a comment on the income companies get from having web based games, but a speculation of what the OP might be better "equipped to handle".

This isnt, and never will be, a game suited for the instant gratification generation.

Although some try to change it into that.

Dont teach a man how to fish, when you can sell the fish to him :D

Never feed a person, when you can teach that same person to harvest their own food.

The value of the "teaching" is by far greatest then the value of keeping that person dependant of you/or ppl like you. :)
I never expected to reach high level in two weeks. For sure, part of the reason I wanted to give L2 a chance was indeed because WoW has become too easy and full of a bunch of kids. I could level 20+ wow toons to max level in the time it takes to do one in L2. Probably even more these days as easy as they have made it.

Perhaps it just the style of game that I don't like. Killing the same monster, or group of monsters 100's (1,000's?) of times to gain 25% exp just isn't fun to me. It might not even be that, so much as that at my level, most of it has to be done alone.

There is a lot to like about this game, otherwise I would not have returned in the first place. I like the clan system as I remember it along with all the politics that went with it. I loved the battles we would have to hold our exp room in CT in those days. It was just so much fun.
trust me, i know your pain.

this game takes a lot of devotion.
you have to put efforts forth more than just going out to xp.

getting to 75 is tough, but after that it becomes easier.
you get into parties, and you do ultimately make adena.

but before 75...
after 60...
there is a long dragging zone of xp where you don't quite fit into the high level xp parties, but you lose out on the fast solo xp.
This game is about grouping with friends to advance.
This game requires more effort, teamwork, and time than WoW.
Note that this means its full of people with greater patience, perseverence, and organization than WoW as well.

Adena is actually rediculously easy to come by and new people can just use common gear all the way to 76. If you find a clan, most often people will loan you full B and A-grade sets until you dont need them anymore.

No cheating, botting, ebay, or RMT is required for someone even on a casual gaming schedule.

It is possible L2 is just too hard for you...

I would agree if it wasent Lineage2 we were talking about :D
I can get a character from 0 to 85 in 10 days.. how is it so difficult for people to level?!!?

l2 takes much more then most mmo's i played to become anywhere near the top

which is what i actually like, most new mmo's run on instances where pretty much any clan can get what top clans get aswell.
i like the fact that l2 makes u pvp for somethings, i do agree with the dude on the amount of adena needed to buy something it meight be hard to believe for people who play for years already but just make a new character for the luls and dont support it with your main toon, ull see its **** hard to get some nice gear especially if ur rube user u cant buy the common **** from the market ;)

To the OP - can I have your stuff?
You didnt join the right clan.
We have tons of ppl 6x, 7x, we have raids every day, parties for exp, clan average age is 30+, we dont aim to top tho, but while you are catching up with the elites, you can have fun at the lower levels too, make the money (last week spent for clan about 150 mil and ended up 150 mil from what i had before, so 300 mil income) and get the gear, then move to a top clan of your choice. We do ask for the gear back, most ppl dont return, but if you play with the crowd and participate in activities you can gear up yourself.
It can be done, it works, it isnt easy, but being easy is boring. We have someone which reached 82 in a month and also has alts 6x or so, made a couple of hundred milions surplus and now prepares sub for raids to replenish vita and make more money.
Full legit is full fun. We are on Naia, but even if you are on Chronos, wouldnt be the first american to come on Naia speciffically to join us, but i bet there are legits there too. Bots may be in full offensive and will surely PK a lot in so called wars in GoD, but we have seen worse, population is decreasing, many bots are bored and leave, only GMs can really put us down, and we are not there yet, even tho I received some threats recently
