Was in party with a clanmate tonight. I'm an 82 doomcryer with his boxes doing delusion chamber. Keep in mind I've been in this clan for about a month (longer if you count the time i took a break) I'm on nightly for several hours. Still using a b-grade weapon and some crappy s gear. I've party'd with them as clan a few times (very rare) but they always made me feel sub-par with my gear and skills. Complaining I don't have great fury yet.
Right before we go in he says: "oh, btw...I keep all drops". I could go on and on but for some reason, I don't think this is normal behavior for a clanmate. I immediately dropped party and told him "I'm kinda glad you told me that." Shot a private message to clanleader and he was kinda non-chalant about it. Like, oh well, come xp with me that sucks.
Now, I know he has expenses boxing the 3 toons, but I have expenses too. This to me is not normal for what I used to know as clan activities.
Also, keep in mind my lack of gear in this situation. And I don't believe any of his toons lack in gear and max level.
Is this how L2 is now? If not 82 DC LFC. If it is normal, I have some soul searching to do.
Also it is not normal to be 82 dc with b grade weap and s gear.I bet your sleep doesnt land on delusion and you take lot of dmg from mobs.As buffer you had minimal expenses on game, why you dont have at least am and dynasty set?
Not having greated fury is not a big deal for pve. With his 2 boxes he should wip the room without this buff.
If he took you with him just to help you plvl and allready had buffer,he could say that ''i will plvl you but drops are mine'',other people even sell plvl.If you were the only buffer and you were doing cov, then you were playing as a member of party and you should have random party loot.
Since he played with 3 toons he would take the most of drops/stones but if you wouldnt get any he should give you some stone when party over,in the random case of an armor or weapon drop,he could say that he will selll this and give you a part of money, since his 3 accounts were making the party in delusion possible.
On any case, since you mention this is a clan you are in and if not a big clan, people should try to keep you in clan and in party, making you feel useless or leaving you poor by taking all drops its not the way.
I think the original idea in his head was he was being nice with the idea maybe of powerleveling idk. But, its not like I just stand there and burn 40 spirit ore every 5 mins for cov, I actually participate and hit mobs, sleep mobs (i do have a highly oe'd b-grade weapon), buff, crowd control take aggro off of his boxes. You know, play my toon. I have a little money saved but not enough to really do anything with.
83 is fast approaching and the amount of adena required to stay with it is insane. Not whining, just stating facts. Not asking for hand-outs with this clan but if something drops---and I need it and you DON'T, that's a no brainer to me.
Thanks btw for all the private messages saying this is not normal for CLANS and all the offers to join all your clans. Am considering a few clans atm.
Sorry mate, even to me it sounds like he was doing you a favor when he didn't have to.
If he is little less selfish, then having looting on random would have been nice. However, I can't blame him if he wanted to keep all the loots.
After all, it seems he really doesn't need you much.:(
I don't know if you were the only buffer in the party or he also had a buffer box. But even if he didn't have a buffer box, I don't think it's a much problem for him to get another buffer for his party.
To me, you have to be graceful to him that he let you in his party to get you some exp.
Even if you don't loot anything, you still gain some adena just for being in the party.:p
And no matter how high oe'd B grade weapon is.. it doesn't contribute much there... I am sorry. :o
Ty all for the input. Even you smittie. But, I just think this is a little ridiculous. I could totally understand if I was looking for powerleveling but im not. I dont buy nevits at all. For years I had these things called alts. Then realized (too late I guess) alts got you absolutely nowhere. But they sure are fun. If everyone took this approach, why party at all? With anyone? It would be like for example: "my weapon does damage than your weapon, I contributed the most so all the drops are mine, k?"
Your answer is "go get gear moron" ok I get it, I do really. Now I go off to solo land for a year or two just so I can join your little antisocial group. Get bored after 2 months of loneliness and no accomplishment and quit.
Get my 32 thread, 14 bones, 2 mithril, and 55 stems per day and soon I'll have some gear!! Right. But normally your answer is "join a clan goober" and "ask for help". It's always the same statements. Especially you smittie. You are famous for saying this.
I did.
Fantastic! GF more players should come to L2. Hey you didnt play L2 like us for years on end so go solo more till we except you.
Or just dont party with the guy that wanted to keep all drops.
It's obvious it is bothering you that he wanted to keep the drops, so just avoid him. Party with other ppl.
But keep in mind, using a b grade weapon at lvl 82, you add as much to the party as my boxed wc that does buffs every 20 mins and cov every 5. And my box never wants to take my drops.
To him, you are an easy replacement.
Let me ask you, how often and easily can you get a party like that?
Is he an easy replacement to you?
You need him more than he needs you. And yes, you are saying you are contributing, but not really..
You get more benefit from him than him getting it from you no matter how much you deny it.
Don't take it offensively, but my friend think of it this way.
Let's say you are moving, and a little kids comes along and tries to help. He moves a pillow and some books for you. Yes, he did something, but you really didn't needed it.
I bet he has many milk too.
Getting adena and exp in his party is more than enough reward it seems..
Most players plays in dilusion chamber with box usually plays alone. It looks like he was kind enough to invite you in his party because you are in same clan when he really didn't have to .. You may deny it, but he must have been trying to help you in his own way when he didn't have to.
I could be wrong, but by reading your post, that's the impression I'm getting..
I'm sad to point out that the one that is upset by their answers is you.
Let's remember where we are: This is the official boards of a MMORPG and everyone that has a game account can join. Narrowing it, this is a Public Thread, which means that everything written here can be read by anyone, including those how can't join the boards. Further more, a public thread is made to accept all kind of post from anyone who is signed in the boards.
To make it simplier: This is a public place and you will see different opinions about anything you may post. People aren't meant to be smooth all the time and, when their attitude goes off the bounds, moderators are to be notified. This is how a forum works.
Now, if you got all irritaded about what people said (and, as I could see, you mistook some of what they've said), you are the one to blame.
A final note: If Smittie or anyone here intended to annoy you, that last post just proved that they did it quite successfully.
Some people may answer with usefull info and some won't. You should filter, not retaliate.
Don't like someone's sayings? Let them talk alone in the dark...
"Power-leveling" is the process of sustained, fast leveling of a low level character by a higher level or geared character. IMHO getting to level 82 with a b-grade weapon would require a majority game time dedicated to being powered leveled. IMHO this might be the very source of your gear issues. This could also be the reason you have limited exposure to the different types players. Not everyone is as generous as your would like them to be.
Many dedicated players also disdain the practice as many high level areas/quests require a high level of personal experience with a game's mechanics and use of a character's role in a party setting which is usually underdeveloped in players that have been power-leveled (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_leveling#Power-leveling).
I think that it is perfectly normal for a individual to want to take all the loot. Everyone is different in there own way. Some don't mind sharing others feel like if they are doing most of the work that they should be getting all the loot. It isn't that clan's fault that this individual chooses to play like that. Every clan could of players that feel the same way. If I had a clan member that said that to me... I would just laugh to myself and say, "OK, no problem!" Then so I wouldn't be wasting any adena, I would sit my happy butt down, pop in a movie, and let this individual POWER LVL me... WOOT WOOT!!!!!!!! NO MONEY OR MATS BUT FREE XP!!!!
Not really. Up until this point my wolf was my weapon. Just didnt see the investment as worth it. But in a party environment, wolf dies....ALOT, a heckuva lot.
As the leveling starts to slow down, so is your ability to solo. I'm finding this out the hard way.
Solo = wolf out and buffed.
Party = wolf put away and gimp damage.
I wouldn;t party with someone that wanted to keep all there drops to themselfs. Let them party with there boxes. Theres a lot of of opportunitys for partys for a dc with cov even if your gear isn;t up to par of what people think is the norm for gear. who said you had to have better gear you pay the 15 buck to play. Play it how you want to play it.
If I got in a party where the party leader said well all the drops go to me then well then I would of left that party to.
Just open up party matching window guy every day I see groups looking for buffers for gc dv or where ever hell Ill party you if your around when I am makeing a party I don;t care about gear or who has what if you can make a group and be able to kill mobs and the group works then who realy cares at the end of the day.
1. Solo is not the way. If you didnt build your network of friends and buddies to level with, this happens.
2. Being an easy replacement is not the way either. The guy with three boxes, if didnt need the wc, wouldnt have taken it. If we are to think a bit everyone is an easy replacement, that is why ppl end up solo with 5 boxes.
3. You dont like the party, you dont go. Make better friends, search for better clans or go back to solo.
4. Getting aggravated for this situation wont help anyone. Like it or not, L2 is the land of cheaters and selfish ppl that would do anything for one more pixel. Exceptions are rare and usually dont advertise their presence, you need to search far and wide to find them. It is worth the search tho, sooner or later you will find them, but from what I see in your attitude here they wont need you because most search for their kind of ppl, you will be one of the usual crowd for them.
5. We can accept nobody is perfect and overlook ppl's minor faults, or think we are the best and play alone always hoping from clan to clan and leave slamming the door because we are sick and tired of n00bs, -_- and -_-.
6. Most of all, we forget this is a MMO and our purpose here is to have fun. This thread shows some of the problems making ppl quit L2 in some detail.
M
FyI, i did get 12 private messages saying this is NOT normal clan behaviour.
How many of the people sending these messages 3-box in Delusion Chamber by themselves?
Which IS the reason I originally posted--asking is this is normal?
Let me put it this way for you:
It's normal to have your own boxed buffer if you 3-box in DC.
It's normal to invite a clannie to leech even if he can be replaced by your own box.
It's normal to set your own party drop rules in such circumstances. It's ok if they are "I'm the keeper", however I personally never do it because I hate picking up drops, so I prefer my leechers to pick drops for me.
It's normal to be able disagree with the party drop rules as soon as they are stated. It's normal to leave the party if the rules aren't changed in your favor.
It's normal for someone else in you clan to propose you a party if you complain about your situation. One, two, maybe 3 times. It's not normal to keep pampering you if you complain again and again.
Now,
It's NOT normal for a lvl 80+ buffer main to have a B-grade weapon.
It's NOT normal for a Doomcryer 80+ main to beg for a party.
Moreover, it's NOT normal for a Doomcryer 82 main not to be asked for a party as soon as he logs in, no matter what weapon he has.
Look, there are clans out there (at least on Naia) that have nicer members who actually want to party and are bored to box / solo. This guy is not a nice person and I am sure you will meet many, choose to party with other people and try some other clans.
Also make a party yourself, because then you have more control. I must say in my clan we always use random+spoil as party rule. You can demand that, let nobody tell you otherwise. I hate 'favours', don't want 'favours', we are all equals playing a game together.
The Doom Cryer is needed to make any good XP party. Go aden, shout for party and go GC, thats easier and better than DC anyway. Maybe you will find a nice clan like that.
Took smitties advice. (thanks smittie--still think you're a jerk though o.0) Took what little money I had combined with all my alts stuff...crystallized it sold what i could, took a neo crystal I had in my wh and made some MW duals S. Was dancing around the living room when I gambled and took the chance at +4! Success!
I know it's not an AM with element but it's a start. AM's are still very expensive. Got them to 85 fire with stones I didn't sell from the tiger event. Already had Dynasty Enchanter.
So now things are looking up. GC randoms are so boring though. But the clan I'm in has wars so the wartags come to gank me quite a bit down there. A few times the random partys I've been in have come to my aid. Wanted to try Delusion Chamber for something fun and different.
who said you had to have better gear you pay the 15 buck to play. Play it how you want to play it.
There is a word 'efficiency'.
Yes, by paying the same $15 dollars a month, you have right to do whatever you want to do in the game for yourself when you play alone. But if you are partying or playing with someone else, then your responsibility is 'equal' to the others.
What you said sounds like every students should get same grade because you pay the same tuition at school. I don't think so.
It's obviouse whoever studied harder gets better grade.
In this case, whoever is putting more effort should get more rewards.
It would be nice if the person is nice enough to share the loots. However, you can't blame the person for keeping it all when that person is doing the most of the work.

Hello. im the bad clannie. just wanted to clear up some things.
1. Was not xping, rather doing great seal, tower seal bosses. port in then shadow for 1 hr.
2. during regular xp i always have loot under random.
3. was not whining about lack of greater fury, made a comment and if i remember correctly, said we should work on getting him to 83 faster. this comment was made during a differnt xp party in tower seal, where party loot was set to random.
4. ~13 mil xp for 52 spirit ore, no shot use since they couldnt vr back fast enough from rb aoe and no healer in party.
5. drops include dynasty jewel mats, weapon pieces and full dynasty jewels rarely and delusion duals( super rare). if i sell mats i end up with maybe 1.5 mil daily. hardly a great moneymaker but covers expenses.
6.i use tea leaves to make jewel sets for clannies and maybe fill up some missing pieces for others.
ive only ever had 2 full weapon drops form doing this over 5 months. hardly call it good enough rate to help gear anyone.
If i do party anyone its usually for that big xp lump at the end for very little effort. I just thought i could help a little with xp, and yes i do have dc but i logged it out. im always looking for clannies to replace my boxes, and when theyre available, they do.
im not really upset at this, but i would have liked full disclosure from my clannie instead of making me look bad.
...Jewels are a dime a dozen in this game. Hunting for a few days I'm able to buy a full set.
Why dont u get this set's then and sell them to get better gear?
If you want to "replace" your boxes, maybe this isn't how to handle it.
Why should he replace his boxes for U, if all u do is buff and maybe use a heal from time to time? A box can do that also.
I am rly sorry, but i think u overreacted.
U got free xp + money from Adena drops while u had nothing to do, just buff and sit.
Also i would have sold the Neo Cry to get some money.
This plus selling ur alts stuff (what u did) + ur holding money + selling ur B Grade weapon would have easily given u an AM Acu.
Tho any C grade acumen/mana up whatever weapon + AS haste would be more effectiv to help ur party during pve/pvp.
Sounds like it is time for a group hug! People that already feel inadequate in a group tend to overreact in situations that highlight their inadequacies. This is an attempt to redirect the attention, often at the cost of those trying to help them achieve more. Yet again real life creeping into our virtual world.

And that makes me scared the hell out of you... :)

yes if u were lfp in clan/ally chat n he went ok u can come with me but im keeping the drops then whats been said is true.
If, as i read it, ur kinda suprised that clans no longer aim to help much other than offer some plvls that ur not asking for......... is that normal ?then id say probably yes, judging from friends that have moved about abit id say ur probably lucky to get a party invite ;-)
without diving to much into all the various what ifs and so forths about the conversations among this thread.
First off...
I personally don't agree with anyone demanding they keep ALL drops, but i have no issue with it provided they state this before heading out somewhere or doing something... IF they are going to be basically boxing everything and power leveling me... i can comprehend it.
But i can't really think of any party i've been in that demanded everything. But then again i typically am quite useful, doing more then just being a buff box that stands there and spends nothing. Even on my bd doing AOE i'm a massive help to the AOE party that may include a titan and GK and dreadnaught.
Either way... party leader decides what he/she wants. Provided they tell you ahead of time what they want it should be fine. If you don't agree kindly leave. You have a right to try and negotiate with the leader and find a comprimise if you want. If you can't agree on anything.. well it's your choice to either stick around and accept the conditions or leave forcing them to find another.
That's is the unfortunate nature of it. Greed unfortunately plays a huge part in this game and the very nature of these choices have short term benefits sometimes with long term problems that will not likely be considered or cared about or will be blamed on other thought to be related issues per usual (love short term memory of most people.... /sarcasm)
Frankly i find it funny that some of the comments were giving you a hard time with how you should just suck it up and take it as a privilage to get power lvled... many of these same people then ***** about the fact that people are leveling to fast (leveling faster then they are making money is their main complaint)... Hypocrits quite the lot of them... not all mind you... but the point is made
Lock this thread I got my answer. The vast majority of people I've talked to in game says this is greedy. Some of you hard cores say **** sit down and leech and "oh btw drops are mine". In any case thanks all.

You are type of a person who wants to listen to what you ONLY want to hear, I see.. You are just blocking your ears and trying to filter out what you want to hear only.
Did most people you talked really know what really happened? Do they completely understands the both side of the stories?
I never make a side with anyone unless I know both side of stories.
Most replies here on your thread wasn't accusing you or him of anything. They were just giving you an idea that you could be the one who's wrong.

I doubt all the people that you spoke still would agreed with you after reading what he said if what he said is true. Did all the people you spoke read his statment?
Like I have pointed out in previouse reply, it seems he was trying to help you out in his own way when he didn't have to. And you are not graceful about it. And if you still questions why you should be graceful, then you are seriously selfish..
Don't get me wrong. I'm not siding with anyone of you. I don't know you both anyway. But reading from your post to all of your replies and his reply, it makes me feel that you are the one being selfish. Sorry.
If you ask most people 'Is it wrong to speed over the speed limit on highway?' the majority answer would be 'YES, It is wrong.'
However, if someone had to speed in order to take someone who was having heart attack to the hospital with the emergency lights on because the person couldn't wait for the ambulance to come, yes it's still not the right thing to do, but it's different than just asking is it wrong..
Dunno how it is on Chronos, but on Naia even grouping daily with randoms in GC I have never run into ******** like that.
I did a duo in GC with a guy several times and he had the party on finders keepers. But given it was a duo and I'm a healer and he is carrying 90% of the expense that way I was ok with it. And rather than your guy he asked politely if he could have it - he didn't just state "I keep drops."
k well i meant u were ungraceful, but if ur calling him ungrateful - why should he be for something he wasnt asking for ^^
What he said,
yes i do have dc but i logged it out. im always looking for clannies to replace my boxes
He offered him free exp for very little effort when he didn't have to..
There's old saying in Korean for ungrateful people;
when you rescue someone from drawning, the rescued person blames you and sues you for the lost bag while drawning..
Ok......ima try and make u understand cause ive been on his side plenty of times.....ok. Say u have 4 toons and u can lvl in delusion by urself. u feel generous and offer a clanmate to come basicly leach if u feel like it and get xp. Now it does cost alot more then people think to run a group by then selves. U say ima keep all the drops so u can come out ahead instead of break even or go under for the time.....now the person drop group cause they dont agree with it when ur trying to help them
Mate, you keep going like this and you are most likely getting warned...
Just an advice anyway...
Rofl... From the attitude shown in that guy's replies in this thread, I wonder why would any clan member wanna party with him in the first place. If any of his clannie is reading this, please pm me his name in-game for future references :D
Well, homey we are not in Korea. North American server.
So blaming and sueing the person who rescued you is ok in North America?
So, you are telling me that if this were your story, you'll blame the person who rescued you instead of showing him gratitude for saving your life if you had any minor loss because of him while being rescued? Oh, wait.. you are doing it already..
I really wonder what other fellow American friends would say about what you just have said..
So blaming and sueing the person who rescued you is ok in North America?
Probably that person wanted to drown in the first place, then since he can't die as 'you' saved him; so he will sue you for any possible thing.... lol
i find it funny that a Dc who just buffs and cov in a grp wants more loot then he/she deserves
took a leech with me to greenroom
and he screamed at me that i should change looting to by turn >_>
me boxing 5 accounds to do greenroom while he just sits there chilling
lol
or another time when i had fog pt up killing 8 rooms with a sws as secondary runner for more rooms , i did had random on cuz he did help with bringing mobs , then fulldrop saintspear , i asked him if i could have that or at least split the money . he bsoed and pmed me be quiet, its my drop .
Since then i only pt with clanmates cuz theres always greedy support out there that abuse the fact that DD`s need support to kill things
so to the topic dude , you better get used to being a box /leech till you actually have equiptment that would make you look like a Main char
Bg weapon and arcane set/dyn set seriously , even my Doomcryer/box wears moirai robes and a Vesper mage weapon and i am a poor Orc due to me helping ppl with money .
dont tell me that u cannot effort vesper cuz its to expensive , i had my first vesper weapon back when they cost 1,2bil on market .
so ya get a new clan/friends/ally , and get used to be Nice to people that box multiple accounds to make parties happening , cuz if those boxes werent there then there wouldnt be a party for you to xp with

If you are providing buffs and COV you are doing your job in the party and are entitled to your share of the spoils. It is not normal for people to say they get all drops unless they are letting you come along and leech and do nothing. It sounds from other posts that you were contributing buffs to the party including COV so you were performing your role in the party.
i find it funny that a Dc who just buffs and cov in a grp wants more loot then he/she deserves
took a leech with me to greenroom
and he screamed at me that i should change looting to by turn >_>
me boxing 5 accounds to do greenroom while he just sits there chilling
lol
or another time when i had fog pt up killing 8 rooms with a sws as secondary runner for more rooms , i did had random on cuz he did help with bringing mobs , then fulldrop saintspear , i asked him if i could have that or at least split the money . he bsoed and pmed me be quiet, its my drop .
Since then i only pt with clanmates cuz theres always greedy support out there that abuse the fact that DD`s need support to kill things
so to the topic dude , you better get used to being a box /leech till you actually have equiptment that would make you look like a Main char
Bg weapon and arcane set/dyn set seriously , even my Doomcryer/box wears moirai robes and a Vesper mage weapon and i am a poor Orc due to me helping ppl with money .
dont tell me that u cannot effort vesper cuz its to expensive , i had my first vesper weapon back when they cost 1,2bil on market .
so ya get a new clan/friends/ally , and get used to be Nice to people that box multiple accounds to make parties happening , cuz if those boxes werent there then there wouldnt be a party for you to xp with
Germanic germ. Makes sense why a germ would bot/box. When you're THAT proud of your boxpets. I really have no doubt that you bot them in some way. THANKS NC Soft for fully sanctioning behavior that is detrimental to the MMO portion of Lineage 2.
First, a bot is not the same as a box. A BOX is opening a second account in a second screen and buf yourself. A BOT is an automatic program that can react on the situation and do stuff accordingly.
BOXes are allowed, BOTs are banned.
Now, @sweetdreamz if you box lets say 8 accounts then this one alive buffer gets only 1/9 of the drops. I think it is fair. Sharing the saint spear however would have been nice.
Personally what I really don't like is DDs that think they have the right for all drops because they do the killing. And on top of that some claim they powerlevel the rest. While their job is quite easy. The job of lets say cardi is more difficult.
I got 4 accounts and 90% of the time I use them all when I do stuff (pve). I get accused of botting all the time...it rly doesn't bother me though, cuz ppl can petition me all they want, got nothing to hide... When I do have other ppl in pty I always go pty loot random if they contribute to the killing in some way...
On a side note, due to advanced botprogram I can be more difficult to spot if a person is botting or boxing, but normally I check for dances/songs/buffs. If these as being done in a normal macro way, then its in most cases a box, however if the lets say dc is hitting and then buffing some buffs in between mobs and then hitting again its 99% sure a bot.. same goes for dancing/singing
