Here's my situation... started new not that long ago and was able to play alot through the combined 3 weeks of 2x xp events. I burned through levels and have a spectral dancer level 77. I only marginally like the class with my play style, and ended up creating a phantom ranger that I am having more fun with. I got this char to 66.
After reading about "awakening" would it make more sense to go back to the dancer as he would be able to use the 'stone of destiny' to choose the archer type at 85 - the same path my 66 is already trying to get to?
I could prolly get to 80 or more in the time it would take me to get the 11 levels from 66 to 77. My other dilemna is I have S light and bow waiting for me on the 66... I'd have to sell and get appropriate gear for the BD if that was what I was going to ride into GoD.
Hoping to get a few opinions as well as confirmation that my understanding is correct for the mechanics of how awakening will work.

Your understanding is correct. I would personally prefer playing what I like rather than thinking about which class would get to 85 sooner.

TBH 66 is not that far from 77 (compared to getting to 85 that is), so best to just play the archer if that's what you like more..
*but* BDs do level easier because of the demand for one in every party...
Well I took both of your advice and have been playing my PR.
I still play my BD enough to burn some bars of vitality, it is incredibly nice to login and have a GC offer almost any time. I'm thinking it still makes sense to play this char some as I would eventually be able to choose a new path at 85. Additionally, if I found the 'new' archer class not to my liking - I'd have a backup toon ready to go.
