I noticed a large number of people viewing these forums today.. any reason?

Currently Active Users: 8224 (76 members and 8148 guests)
Most users ever online was 8,224, Today at 07:15 PM.

A bug? Something special happen that I missed or perhaps a huge number of internet bots?

EDIT, 8900+ haha.

I see what you mean but I don't know what's going on it with. Maybe the forums have entered the Twilight Zone? :o

I've sent an email to the web support team so that it can be looked at.

If there is a DDoS going the forums are coping extremely well :P
We should not forget that many ppl from privates read here and they are much more than us, who knows what happened in their world. Could also be a bug.

Not rly. DDoS doesnt necesserily mean the site will be unavailable. If there are not enough clients participating in the attack, site can easily handle it.

19k not enough ? If every one of those would request just one page per 2 sec (they are dinamically generated here and any DDoS attack is based not only on number of participants but also volume of requests/packets sent per unit) the server would be dead in the water, we all know hardware is not the best at NCNA, but even serious servers (barred clouds or similar) would have a problem with that load.
For some reason, even tho you are not logged, it keeps you in the list. Probably the timer never goes to 0 or something or the script to remove the record has some bug.

Looks like NCNA found the way to pump up the hit counter on the site, to increase revenues from ad banners or something. :)

Exactly, Sace is online non-stop since 2 days. Looks like some ppl can be online in game 24/7, others in the forums :)

the forum is not releasing inactive 'accounts' perhaps... not a DDOS, when it is 5M guests.. then perhaps but even then it is just some script kiddy..

Same, but while the page was loading in a few min, the forum didnt show more than usual ppl on.

There was some maintenance early this morning that must have caused the website lag. It wasn't certain that it would be affected but it was a bit in the end. That maintenance ended an hour ago, though.

As for the forum users numbers, we're still tinkering around with the settings trying to get it back to how it was before, so you may continue to see some irregularities in those numbers.
