So after some real painful grinding I got my orc to lvl 77. I was looking forward to have some fun at higher level, enjoy higher level quests (pailaka, epic, class transfer, etc), but then I hit a stone wall. I just found out that I need to kill raid bosses to have a subclass.
I mean, seriously? SERIOUSLY? To kill few raid bosses just so I can continue grinding from the beginning?
It should be made available automatically ffs, without having to do anything, considering that you are expected to grind again for a month to get somewhere.
The painful truth of Lineage 2. It's the most realistic game ever made. Because everything in it costs money.
I've heard so many players say this game is hard. It's not, it's not even close to hard. World of Warcraft, a game I despise so much, have some insane heroic bosses that are way harder than anything in Lineage 2.
Lineage 2 is just time consuming and at some point annoying as hell to play. You have to be a bit of a sadomasochist to get to lvl 85. I feel pity for anyone who is planning to become lvl 99.
If there is other way to do it without killing raid bosses, then please tell how. All guides out there claim I have to kill raid bosses.
And I might no be forced to make a subclass, but I want to.
I am in a clan, it's just that I don't want to bother a bunch of people to help me kill some raid bosses just so I can play a subclass now and then.
Sadly, Lineage 2 is a game where you will need other people help to do some things, and other people will need your help to do more. Sometimes you are not forced to do something with others, but it's more effective to do it like that
For the second way, you could farm 100 Territory Wars badges and exchange them to get Nobless. But you may need clan helps to do it faster =)
To make it clearer: if you get 100 badges from territory war and then ask the tw manager npc to make you noble, you automatically will get the right to add a subclass, too. As if you had done the subclass quest. Get 100 badges (2-3 tw with clan help, 8+ tw without), get noble, poof, subclass.

Im very confused by your post, you say that you don't agree with who ever told you that this game is hard? and then you get furiuos that you have to do a few raidbosses, and claim that you want it automatically?
And I am not sure how to get started with that you " was looking forward to have some fun at higher level " and then hit a stone wall that you cant get a sub?
AND you could have taken the time to read that you don't actually have to kill the RBs your self but after they die there spawns a box you talk to.
So you can just wait for them to be killed by raid partys.

thats how it is now .. but it hasnt always been that way. Once the subclass quest was a very hard task, much harder then anything in WoW could ever be, because you needed to be part of the raidgroup that encounter the most wanted epic boss in l2.
Sadly L2-designers gave up most of the diplomatic/player-driven/sandbox-concept long ago. But they still keep the grinding ^^.
I think you're overreacting, Revelations. The grind is much muuuuuch easier now than it was in previous updates. Heck, I'm a slacker and yet I got to 84, I could've been 85 like 3 updates ago. I made an EE and in 4-5 months, I got her to 81. It took me a good 4 years to get my main to 80 and it kinda bugged me. :p
Have you used Party Matching? Are you in a clan? If you're solo all the way, then no wonder you're complaining, as the others have said, L2 is a game based on cooperation.
Varaya mentioned the 2nd and easiest way of getting subbed and noble, Territory Wars. Sign up for the territory of your choice and you can either complete the tasks provided or just stand in town and get like 10-15 badges. If you complete the tasks, you get way more badges. :)
Trust people and make a network of friends... It's an MMO (stands for Massive MULTIPLAYER Online), you WILL need others as others might someday need you...
Also, control your rage impulse, nothing can be solved by plain rage... If you had just used you head and asked nicely for advice, you could have learned a lot more and made some friends in the process...
If you don't want to play or cooperate with other ppl this isn't really the game for you. The game has been made alot easier already compared to how it used to be. If you want things handed to you on a silver platter there are plenty of other games that you can play.
Come on...I soloed my prophet to 76 in few months of relaxing playing. This game isnt hard anymore. With TW you have to be nobless in no time. Hell, even I could kill someone there (being lvl 72 only in that time).

Seriously, how can you know this being only lvl 77? I doubt you ever was raiding dragons so how can you know they are way easier than wow bosses? Check another topic in this section about extreme Freya that wasnt raided until now.

Yeah deathmatch counter-strike still counts as multiplayer game but this doesn't mean i should cooperate with the rest >.> Having a multiplayer word in it's name means nothing for what this game actually requires. I myself like to rely on myself as much as possible. For me it's the definition of win-win situtation yet NCSoft doesn't really leave me with choice. And in the end it should be MY choice that matters. Not the script they made me play. Last time i checked it's open world RPG but instead ... you are playing in really closed world ... with very few exp/drop spots available for which you have to bite and scratch. And when you do that ... there is always some high level character always ready to Pk you. Gotta love L2
Prelude was hard! No Vit herbs, no vit events, no increase in EXP through updates.
Level 40 max .. your point is ? having to grind from 1 to 40 without vit and herbs and double exp is like the same to grind from 1 to 85 with them. The exp boost does not make for all the 45 added levels

Actually, Deathmatchs players NEED eachother. I have not said a word about cooperation. OP was playing ALONE, killing NPCs. I just suggested him to get along.
MULTIPLAYER word means a player need other one to take the full sense of it. In deathmatches, we need another player so we have who to kill... If I was aone in a deathmatch I would not be taking any part of the MULTIPLAYER feature...

have you even played prelude? You know ... actually having to WALK from dion to hunters village for your quest cause the TP fees was half your money. Using Soulshots once per mob cause you couldn't afford to use more. 6000 people all trying to exp in the same 4 areas. Hell back then SODA and Elven Ruins were impossible without a party and guess what? No freebie buffs, no buff herbs and no 6000 adena for alacrity pots, no clan halls ... oh and max level was 75 not 40.
The game right now is Hello Kitty Online on easy mode relative to prelude.

Yeah and back then, there wasn't all these games that require nothing to lvl up. Or free games..
Lineage 2 at one point was the second best game to WOW, but lets be realistic the game is 7 years old and the players of the world today do not want to spend a year on a game to lvl, just to see hey we need at least another few months to require good gear to compete.
The fact of the matter is, what the game was, it's not the same. The game didn't have an update for the longest time, now it's updating constantly making it even more difficult for new players to compete with older players. I could care what someone is doing in Korea, china or whatever, the game is supposed to be a pvp game also but you barley see that happen because the gap is too far between players.
I only stay because of the double exp weekends once in a while and there are more events, not to mention I have a lot of time invested into the game from previous updates. Other than that, it gets really old killing 1k mobs to gain a lvl, and if you die in pvp you loose what you just gained unless you are not a pvper, nice catch 22!
Yeah there are brez, but not every one can afford to buy them constantly or be blessed with an rez from other charaters, or clan halls!
seriously, 78 bishops are a dime a dozen, 3 weeks tops and you can get your own. Every clan has clan luck, I 've even seen fort farmer clans with clan luck 2, you barely lose any exp any more. Plus don't forget, back then every death (from a mob) run the chance of losing you half your armor ;)
Anyways, I m not advocating the game should be Prelude like ... I was just replying to a very ignorant dude that thinks the game is hard right now ... It isn't. Everybody can be near end game with 3 months worth of playing 3 hours a day. It's nowhere near in the same vicinity to being as hard as it used to be.

Yes,this was L2 for certain years, only you came in a period game become really to easy for new players that DID played during certain events, like tigers, rabits and double xp.
I met new players that farmed day and night those events and made enough adena to buy s84 armor set or good weapon and did 1-84 in 3-4 months. We,had to struggle 4-5 years for that.
If new player had the bad luck to begin in game in non-event periods, then he remained poor and geared with commons, unless if he didnt quit so he would catch up on 1 of those events.
If new player didnt know anyone inside game,or doesnt have some class people ask in partys, then again he's doomed to lack infos about what he has to do to go his way up.
Doing raid bosses for sub/for noble, was old L2 stuff.People had to wait 5 months or more untill they make sub, when top clan of server went pk everyone who was waiting outside Baium.People had to wait untill enough people from clan/ally can gather to make the raids they need.Because L2 was designed as a clan's game(it ended as a 1man9toons bot train but this is other story),you couldnt reach high content if you didnt belong to an active clan.
As game became now, most of players dont want to be in active clans or constant partys, they find some lvl11 inactive clan with full skills and stay there to farm without wars some areas with good drops,or wait when the new good event will be and farm it.Some of them were old players but many of them just found a 85lvl toon and play.
What they plan to do playing like this?Maybe get as much as adena as they can so in GOD they can get the top gear and then join pvp clans to make the new raids?Or maybe sell all they do for real money?Dont know..
What i know,is the way game evolved the original L2 that was based in clan grouping and politics is lost and players turned into ''event players''.

u couldnt be more wrong - its easier than ever for new players - u think uve invested a lot of time consider how much ppl that started before u spent with **** gear zero buffs having to stab baium - only to be matched by often newer players, that for the most part whine even though they had many advantages that we didnt and still its too much effort lol :-P
This game is like watching an incredibly long tv series. You haveto sit there and watch over 1000+ 40minute episodes, it's not hard, you just have to sit there and relax.
Trying to learn higher levels of math does involve more from your brain than just sitting there.
Now ofc L2 takes a ton of time to acquire the ultimate level, and there are quicker ways to get there, ways found out from others or found out yourself through your IRL WIT, so it is challenging in that regard.
Despite the above statement, 99/100 times you'll win the game by having more numbers on your side and because those numbers have invested more time into the game.
Yet, there are instances where those numbers lost to lesser ones, much like Alexander the Great and his owning the Persians, or Spartans crushing a ton of Persians in 300, but still, it's because those few put in 2x/3x/4x more time to compensate for those incredibly large numbered forces.
Want to be good at L2? Sit there and zone out loike you're watching a tv show series with 1000 40 minute episodes. It's easy as hell, but it'll take a long fken time.
Is L2 worth that for me? Sure. I enjoy the game more than any other game and I can't think of anything I find more enjoyable for little to no effort than zoning out.

That's me and that's the truth about L2.

100 TW badges
you can easily get 30-50 each TW

there is a handy pop out menu on the map that tells a player everything they wanna know about where they can go lvl and what bosses they can kill and we have a very usfull tool called the interweb that has about 20 good sites for all the info u need.
...

 and if you like WOW go to play it. If I was in a health society WOW would be banned just because the way you move your char will provoke soon or late big problems on your muscles/tendons and articulations!

I actually like "wasd" movement... too bad L2 "wasd" is creepy and not-smooth enough...
A lot of you are assuming that because things are easier than they were years ago that things are still okay. This is not the case. I still see things in this game ALL THE TIME, --as in every day--that reek of poor design decisions of the past. Having to kill 4 raid bosses to unlock your subclasses is one of them. I just did the quest myself this weekend, and I'll tell you, before we managed to find 6-7 bored 85's to help us, it felt like it was going to be impossible.to complete. Yes, you can wait for a raid group to kill the bosses. That also means you have to be attending your computer non-stop for what could potentially be days, and the box disappears after 3 minutes. What I thought was the most ridiculous thing was that you have to share these raid bosses with anyone else who's interested, so if Longhorn Golkonda is dead, and you managed to get a group together for the prior bosses, you're just gonna have to camp for a day. At the very least, the required raid bosses should be up hourly. It's not like they drop enough to be worth exploiting anyways. Luckily for me, because of the event, the raid boss respawns were quicker, and I narrowly avoided having to give up at Longhorn.
All that said, there's tons of things in this game that are better than they were years before. Hopefully, they're not going to make leveling TOO much easier though. The level cap actually taking time to get to sets this game apart from a lot of others.

the difference is u dont HAVE to do that now - u can be ready to sub well before u need to with zero effort - unless u consider logging in and sitting in party hard work ! Im not assuming that because things are easier now they are ok - i do refuse to accept that ppl who played longer have any advantage.
the original poster clearly doesn't understand the way the system works with TW badges and noble... which is the cheap and easy way to do it.
the old system which is still around, just not widely done due to tedium...
is much longer process involving several raid bosses, some of which you must be on your sub to complete.
i did it half asked myself, i meet with Baium, but i did the TW badges to get the noble anyway... because the TW also bypasses the mirmirs elixir quest.
as for Raids in Wow being harder than Raids in L2? you clearly have not done all the Raid bosses in L2.
when you say raids? do you mean the minor raid bosses who hang around outside? because those are not Epic raid bosses, they're just grunts with story backgrounds attached to them. at one point they were actually just mini bosses which did not hold the "Raid Boss" title. if you like the Lore of L2, go around and read the little story on a raid boss before you kill it.
Epic raids are not always hard of course; once the trick is learned how to beat them. but how many clans can say they have defeated the truly Epic raid bosses?
now instead of insulting the game, learn to play it.
or else go away and play something more suited for yourself.
I did the subclass quest in 2 days, with alittle help from random people in the game. Most of those raid bosses spawn pretty often, then make 2 decents groups and kill it.
Was it hard work? Yes... Could I do it alone? No... Faster then TW? Kinda... hehe

yes that is assuming that your timing was very good... I have known people (in the past during the old way) where to took weeks because of the spawn time of the RB.
i was spoiled durring the first raid bosses, they were all up, and i was able to take out all 4 in a matter of hours.
at the same time, Baium was up the entire time which lead me to believe he would be up when i needed to stab him...
sadly, i was mistaken, and this last part took me over a month before i could be on when he spawned, only to be pkd on sight after entering the instance.
lucky me, a friendly rezed me so i could wake and stab Baium's footie.
yeah to be fair i was one of the lucky ones cabrio was up as i dinged n forget there names but some farmer clan did it pretty much as i got there n didnt pk me - the toi bosses back then were done regularly and baium we jumped in one commited suicide so the rest of us could stab.
That wasnt the norm though - when baium/toi bosses/barakiel were essential they were also either "owned" by whatever the major force at the time was or a pvp hotspot. Its like a double bluff - the old way is probably easier now because u dont have to fight to get it but only because they introduced what is assumed to be the easier way with tw badges :-S
If you have enough friends or enough luck, you can do the quests (including the 5 parts of becoming Noble after leveling your first sub to 75).
If you don't, just take 2 or 3 TWs to get enough bagdes. This saturday I did my first TW, at level 72. Just laid dead around the Aden Combat Zone, farming fame for clan points, and got 47 bagdes...
I like TW way better because I can do it while being level 72, instead of having to w8 for a good party to kill raids to get subclass, then leveling it to 75 for Noble quest...
Probably, with some luck, at Sept 10th I will get the 53 bagdes I'm missing and will prolly be around 77-80, getting noble and leveling a SWS as sub^^
Actually the old way was rly hard and frustrating too.
I spend like 6h for Baium spawn, then got pked... 2nd time i was on the run to move in, but the "owners" had all song of wind -> moved faster -> started before i could enter.
3rd time finally worked.
That were the times the ppl were so happy and proud, posting screenies on the clan forums etc.
Nowadays L2 has like zero of this feelings left i loved soo much after achieving some rly hard tasks :(
