So if this has been discussed already and I missed it then I apologize.
The main thing about GoD that I've been wondering about is the wasd movement potential. I know 99% of my mmo playing friends pretty much won't give L2 a chance because it is so reliant on the click to move because the wasd option is so janky.
It's just a staple of modern mmorpg games in north america, people want fluid wasd movement. One of my friends won't play any game that he can't jump, because little things like jumping while running long distances keeps him from being bored.
I'm not saying I want a WoW clone, obviously I'm playing this game as everybody else is. But things like fluid wasd movement and tab targetting would be familiar enough mechanics to entice new players or grab the attention of old ones in my opinion.
Well, the bad engine makes it possible to "jump" over mountains, if you find a certain spot at its base... Although this bug can't be corrected by messing with the engine, it may me corrected my giving more power to the geodata algorithm, but I hardly guess it will be...
Aldo, in GD, you will be able to travel by "Jump", although that's not the same thing...

LOL... refuses to play where he can't jump while running long distances.
Yeah, he may be correct about that aspect of this game. We need to get the development teams on this A.S.A.P. this could be the turning point of this game. All these years and we didn't even think this would be the focus of millions upon millions of paying North American players. This could under cut the strangle hold WoW has on so many newbies.

He is crazy, but it is one of those silly things that I find myself doing too. Like if you are standing in one place fighting we'll jump up and down while swinging just for a few cheap grins.
i've been playing with the idea of modifying the keys to use the Xbox controller...
but it has not been working out so well for me.
because when using the xbox controller, you basically strafe around, but turning the camera is a pain.
if you could get the strafing from the controller onto the WASD keys, it might make for more interesting play.
the problem is...
i don't really understand why wasd is considered better than click...
clicking gives you pretty specific control while wasd is more choppy and vague.
if anyone has had any luck with mapping WASD onto the controller rather than the joystick, it would be cool if you could help by posting how.
I really cant imagine maneuvering during pvp with wasd and spamming several skills/pots at the same time. Clicking seems simply way more comfortable to me.

seriously WASD movement brings nasty glitches ... like when you see something hitting infront of it but you strafed away and it still got you because of lag or because the engine doesn't really work that way and it always amazed me. And the hitting system in WoW and Aion ... it's so dumb :X
Well, we should be getting smoother movement regardless. I wish we had smooth WASD too, I find myself running around a lot using the arrow keys because I feel like using those in conjunction with using the right mouse button to look/turn offers more control. Clicking is always nice for traveling long distances though. We're getting mounts soon too though. I miss my darkmane pacer badly. :(
As for jumping, I could do without it. It seems cool, but then games make it so that you jump too high, or start to do cute flips and spins and such, and then it 's stupid.
WASD would be a nice addition, but in the context of this game it really adds nothing and everyone who would get into PVP eventually would have to switch to Point and Click anyway...
I use WASD for a specific purpose, usually getting around in Giran. I hold W to move forward, then control my left/right movement by clicking the right mouse button and changing my camera angle. It's very smooth, and gets me where I need to go easily.
