Game & Player Statistics?

General Discussion Started Last reply 16 posts
During all the hype of the last anniversary, some promises were made that game statistics would be provided. How much longer until those are released or have I missed that thread somehow?
Thank you Sace :)

Do you have some news about the poll we, players, did on a google doc ? Several questions about us, Lineage II, our game habits and so
The full analysis of the Bi-Annual Census is not yet complete. We will be due for the next census sometime in October. The results will certainly be out before the next one.
Ok :)
I am getting old... I now recall reading that. I have to make an appointment with.... I seemed to have forgotten what I was going to do.

Thanks Sace
You are the best!

well to answer to your critics whats sound really negative:

The monthly hold up a server for Lineage 2 with 5000 slot is about 1700euro, if you rent the server, but the big companies as the NCsoft too have own servers so they can hold up them from monthly 1000-1300 euro too. Next of these they have to pay the Lineage 2 NCwest staff, who is mostly Sace, Moxie and Cryo. I guess the game masters of NCwest work on every NCwest games so the payments can be shared between the games, also share the payments what need to keep up the offices in Seattle and in England.

So I guess about 1.000 active accounts quite enough to keep up without problems the Lineage 2 servers and pay the work of the staff, but 2.000 sure.

So, you got your answer now we have to go back to play Lineage II;)

i dont think the amounts u posted are right and for sure we talk about a lot more ppl working for l2,dev team,gm's,managers,etc......

and i'm not malicious,i'm just curious and i dont see any reason to dont get an answer from ppl that actually know how things are going on....
You want them to tell you if L2 is profitable or not? Why? Are you a shareholder in NCSOFT NA? (you can't be, NCSOFT Korea owns it)

And Profeta, the game has a bunch of costs you forgot to mention, like support, accounting, overheads for the people that work for lineage 2, the people that maintain the servers, the people that translate and perform QA on the game blah blah. And even if support/accounting etc are shared with 3 other games, the way the world works is all games have to contribute to these costs, you can't just have Aion pay for support and accounting and Lineage2 gets it free, they all contribute.
Ty Cabbie,i got my answers....looks like L1 is going very well in Korea

Yes, you right, but I already told, that a part of the costs sharing between the games example who control the support, these peoples control the support of AION, Lineage 2, City of Heroes etc. too. So not only from the money of Lineage 2 have to pay for it. Also, still extra money for the NCsoft the different services name changes, gender changes etc.. Much of players weekly change his gender or name with that services and a service option cost is about same as a monthly payment for the game.
But, keep in mind NCsoft make these games to make money with them, so if any game doesn't take enough money they stop support it. The Lineage 2 make enough money this is the reason why it is working!

BTW the Lineage 1 had 5-6 years ago too about 5000 active accounts and it has been only closed 2 months ago. So if the NCsoft would loose money on it they wouldn't support it under 5-6 years.

Also need to keep in mind, that from the Lineage 2 they CAN make bigger money, just need to make some services changes what is we can say free. While the Lineage 1 never was successful in the EU/NA market, but it has ran about 10 years.

Some guesswork here:
Active accounts: 20 k (about 250 k euro from subscriptions or less, of which net is somewhat less, a part going to the retailers)
other revenues: about 10-15 k a week at most (from gender changes, transfers, etc.)
What is not guesswork:
Every week that passes more accounts are going unpayd;
L2 and L1 are still major revenue titles elsewhere especially in Korea;
NC EU and NA are the only ones making losses abroad (NC Japan did a one time donation for the earthquake victims so that is why is in the red 2nd Q)
Server merger was again a huge loss, if we are to interpret the YoY figures, -55% sales should keep any manager awake at night, not to mention the mounting losses.

Why we are so few that see a flaw in this business model, is beyond my comprehension, but that has no bearing on the final outcome, facts beat the wishfull thinking, name calling, banning, threats, nerfing, etc. Ppl do vote with thier feet and will continue to do so, it all depends on what NC staff does, will they continnue in the same note and blame legits and game for the failure ? Knowing them for may years, I think, yes, unfortunately, for everyone, including the ones that continue the campaign to chase legits out.

I was kinda shocked on on well it is doing in Korea vs L2.
Lineage went with microtransactions in Korea, hence the extra income
