Iâve been casually leveling up a Silver Ranger (46 now), trying different hunting areas and I had hopped into Cruma Tower a couple of times. After hitting 46 and updating my skills I thought Iâd go back to the tower to see what difference the updated skills makeâ¦I didnât get too far. I ported into the tower and before everything loaded my name turned purple.
Crud!! I didnât self buff yet, no CP pots or Elixirs of Life and this is my first PvP as a Silver Rangerâ¦shoot, this was my first random PvP in a long time (hence, why bother with CP pots and EoLâs)! I hesitated before I started my attack with Stun Shot, Double Shot, Burst Shot (I think I was in shock someone else was even there)â¦Iâm a range attacker and I should have kept my distance, but I didnât. I got flustered and started pressing buttons for my Bishop â primarily Trance, but Trance wasnât there! Ugh! He switched from bow to dagger and I just stood there shootingâ¦doh!
I ended up on the floor and had to head back to the village where I immediately bought some CP pots, Elixirs of Life, Greater Heal Pots and arranged my bars to make it easier (hopefully) for PvP. In the end I thought, âCool, I just had some PvPâ¦and PKâd.â It wasnât a siege or TW or war, it was random PvP and that was sweet!
PK is when you dont turn purple. Otherwise it's PvP.

True, it was PvP since I participated, but I have always considered it being PK'd if it was an unprovoked attack to begin with. :) That's just me though.
If I don't attack back, I shouldn't turn purple, right? That's what kind of surprised me - I ported into CT and as soon as my character appeared, I was purple (it takes several seconds to appear when porting using my laptop).
Was this on Chronos? I was lvling a sub there and my buffer was outside, lots of people were pvping at cruma tower last night.
Yep, it was on Cronos and I did see a buffer standing outside when I ported in. Guess I'll just have to be ready next time I go there. :)
while it is uncommon.. i've seen weird glitches or something that will cause for example... CP to drop for no apparent reason during almost any event.... probably the most confusing of which is seeing a party member beside me in the clan hall in rune lose about 1/2 of his cp without doing a single thing.. orginally i swore he/she just removed or changed something that would effect his/her cp level.... but they were pretty adiment about it.
otherwise i have seen people on my one screen port from town or a safe zone... into a pvp zone and without doing anything turn purple...

Glad I could add some fun to you game!:D
You did attack and then just stopped like you were in a lag. I was wondering why you stopped attacking.
Cruma is really a fun place to go and have fun anytime of the day. You are always bound to find someone a little frisky!

So there is some exploit. I suspected this when we were in GC lower and suddenly all the party turned purple when we were attacked by a "former" bot in a legit clan. However, further tests to see how he does it yielded nothing so i thought that was some mistake someone did even tho i cant imagine anything that would make all the party purple. He even went red on a wolf even tho was no exp loss week and then bsoed, so, if it was an exploit, either has a big cooldown, doesnt trigger all the time, or needs some special conditions/ unknowing participation from the victims.

Haha! Yep, that was you! :) And that "lag" was me pressing F2 which is Trance on my Bishop and Pick up on my SR. >.< By the time I realized what I was doing, it was too late.
There are several ways you could have turned purple:
1. someone in your party is purple or red and you buff or heal this person
2. your character was ported in and a chaotic person was at the port spot, he didn't load yet so you didn't see you clicked him. Since he is chaotic you don't need to force
And I am not sure about this one, but maybe you had a skill on like deflect magic where there is a chance an attacker gets magic damage reflected back. So without you doing anything you attack back and get purple. I am not sure if this really happens but if it does, you attack classes that may backfire your attack. When it happens you wait for some mobs maybe then the healer will turn purple, the buffer, the tank if your lucky. You kill the healer and the tank and the mobs do the rest. Maybe it works.
In the case of MaoMao maybe it was as simple as standing on top of the mob and hoping someone click you and not the mob, again if you are chaotic no force attack is needed. I have seen purple people that didnt need force, not sure how that works. If someone in your party uses a macro to assist and they click all the time and the main assist takes a look at this guys clan then a mistake attack is easily done.
Last but not least it could be and aoe attack that triggers purple, dunno if it works, but again maybe if a person is chaotic it does work. Think it is time for some experiments :D
In order to attack purple, same as chaotic, aoe is sufficient, no need to force.
In case of any type of strikeback buff or skill, from what i have seen, the attacker cant make you purple, even if it gets dmg.
Our ppl are very used with griefer tricks to escape getting red, mistakes may happen, tho, as I said, I did suspect an exploit then, but since it failed to reproduce it and even got red and BSOEd during no exp loss time, i was pretty sure it wasnt so.
More reports about this tho, make me rethink and will try when i have some time to see how can be done, or ask some friends in bot clans about how they do it if it is an exploit after all. For now I am not convinced.

Dont worry mate as long as you had fun its a win situation :)
As for the glitches the ones i have hit sometimes but i cant replicate them are:
-Hitting someone random (you have him in target) yet you dont use force attack or in war with him this happens in crouded or laggy places sometimes if you press the attack button and the game reacts like you are forcing an attack also hapens towards mobs at these places with skills like heal.
-Most time happened to me at MOS when i was giving cov one or more members of my party including me had a quick move of cp like someone was attacking us yet it went back up as fast as it got lost
-sometimes skills cant be used versus an opponents/mob yet it hits me my client refuses to hit back
-sometimes mostly in towns but also in exp places my char refuses to move and i need to use arrows to regain full control.
