October 5th marks the 1 year Mark of the server Mergers. I have to admit I hated the idea of mergers. But I had no idea it has been 1 year already. Time is flying by. I am certainly having alot more fun now that there are more people with to deal with on an every day basis. Certainly more pros than cons. What are your thoughts as 1 year has passed?
My thoughts are that with the mergers ncsoft totally messed up clan halls for alot of different clans & the way they handled it still sucks.
These new types of clan halls in GoD wont make it any better either, since they have to keep being up for auction every 2 weeks or 1 month....whatever it is.
Yeah man , the clan hall situation did mess up alot of solid clans. Although I see many clans with clan halls in posession of forts also. There are still options. I do think they should have added clan halls at merger, some how...some way. Many big clans have broken up becasue of the "I dont have a clan hall" mentallity. But there are a few that are still out there giving people hell with out a permanent clan hall. One notable mention would have to be AmberEye. As much as I hate to give the enemy props, they are doing very well with the cards they where dealt.
I like the way the are doing the clan hall's in GoD, kinda makes them worthless and clan's will battle more for fort's and war clan hall's and castles again, paying that upkeep they are putting in makes those other option's better by far, and on top of that losing that chuck % of adena even if you don't win the bid is pretty stupid~~

We seem to have a permanent castle more or less. I'm not that familiar with clan halls though, do you have to give up a clan hall if you win a castle? It'd be nice if castles/fortresses/clan halls had a bit more in the way of perks. :(

What is so special about them?
Nothing. If you have a bunch of buffers and rezzers, then you do not really need a clan hall.
I, however, back in the day in 2006-2008, did all my PvE and PvP solo with clan hall buffs only.
It also helped a lot with my daily anti-bot PK runs.
Having lost the clan hall after the first merge, I had to quit any PvP activity.

strategic ports during sieges, buffs when you don't have buffer (then port directly to level spot), reduction of xp loss upon death (go to clan hall), special items you can buy (and sell to people without clan hall)

Why would you assume that ? Check castle control, AE own's/control's 4 castles with 0 clan hall's in ally, clan hall may be "nice" to have but far from being a necessity ~~

guess the chronos situation is different. On naia lots of clans died after loosing clan hall in the merge. It is also a prestige thing I guess, people search for a clan with clan hall. Fortress and castles take continuous effort and you will always have a buff + rez place if you have CH.
There's an issue called time zones.
Sometimes we had only 2 players online: I and DrLecter.
Back at ya: if you xp with a bunch of boxed buffers, why you even need a clan?
Sometimes I box half and someone else boxes half, or I just help out with support for someone else. I still do it with other clannies though, hence why I am in a clan.
If the clan you were in had no ppl on in your timezone, why not look for another clan? Why solo an MMO?

Hence the asterisk calling your attention to the exception. Quebec has certain laws governing contests that NCSoft doesn't care much for.

You must blame your local authorities for not willing to change certain laws to be exactly or almost exactly like national ones. You can always NOT TO VOTE for them next time :)
Good example of how it should be done would be European Union which has some basic laws that are applied to whole continent and local authorities do not really have a rights to drastically move from the EU standard or otherwise country may suffer penalties.

Type 1 civilization being the great culture allowing contests with a prize above $500 to be done without any administration work to ensure it isn't fraud?
European Union is a bad example because it forces laws to countries with different cultures and different economies (different resources, etc) and that locks these countries when they want to write laws to protect their citizens from the aberrations of the market economy. Result: one country in EU saying "what? everything works well for us, make an effort" while the others are going bankrupt.
Apart the countries where contests are forbidden and you can't blame NCsoft for not conducting the contest there, for those requiring some paperwork you can blame NCsoft. They are selling the game in Brazil, there's a special link on the official website for Brazilians, but yet they don't include them in contests. That's not cool.
And you know very well we most are in Republics, not Democracies. Local votes, or even national votes don't give you the opportunity to ask for a change in the law about contests.

You've probably missed their clan hall distribution scheme after server merges, with "no purchase necessary" in its terms... :rolleyes:
