I was reading about the next update and i think i must make write this to know if im the only mad soul in this world =P
I play lineage 2 since C3 (old, very old times...) and never really stopped playing it til now (i played every single chronicle after C3) and i was analyzing the new content, and making a comparsion with the old one. The real thing is, each update adds a few good stuff but removes a lot of essential stuff.
Here are some important stuff i had in mind:
1- Every update they add more high-level gear, but high level gear is narrowing game tatics... you have like 3 different A/B grade sets to choose from (for each robe, light and heavy) wich is great to vary game tatics, but after A grades the game becomes a lil bit empty with narrow options.
2- At C4 (my point of reference) classes were solid. Each class had its strength and weakness, each buffer class had an aim, tankers were tankers, nukers were nukers... now things are becoming pretty much the same... classes are starting to lose their identity
3- Elements. Guess they always existed in this game, but now they are annoying me for various reasons =P (wont waste too much time writing about this one, i guess most players will understand my point, i hope...)
4- Kamaels. As far as i can tell, lineage 2 had a pretty well designed pvp system. Each class had its nightmares and its dreams, you cant really expect an archer to kill a tanker, right? but when kamaels came into the game, i was a lil bit confused, they didnt fit basically anywhere in the equation... i guess they just dont fit in the game lol at least they will never fit in my mind, game was fun without it =D
There are many more things i had in mind but, would take too much time to read, and nobody likes reading so... my point is: Is lineage 2 really envolving? Becoming better? I see a lot of players praying for C4 to come back, and each update i feel like a knife is stabbing my chest...

I dont know, I stopped playing at some point around the kamael update for 1 reason. drop in server population. The sell point had been for me the idea of seiging and taking castles with an actual army.
They never updated the seige system, or fixed some of the issues with it, and instead developed other content that wasn't unique to the L2 world. Not that those issues stop NcEast from doing well, but I personally feel killed the NA market.
That and ebayers. The only other thing that was cool about the game was how certain drops where nearly unattainable, so you never could quite get full grade gear. Once people could bot the merchandise,ebay it, or buy it from a third party, it diminished the population. Mostly the legitimate players working their *** off to obtain the gear correctly, to see someone who had been playing for a week have the exact same gear with no effort.
but these are things anyone who has ever played, or worked for Ncsoft knows about. So i'm hoping these new changes (NcSoft store and F2P) can help bring in a little bit of life into the L2 game, If only to keep it alive for another year or two. Its a beautiful game and it would be a shame to never be able to log in again.
For this game to evolve, they need to focus on the siege system and make it better, in my opinion. But then again, i've been saying that for almost 5 years now.
