Shouldn't there come a graphical improvement together with GoD?
Where is does GoD graphically improve l2.. to me it looks exactly the same. Or not much different at all.
Yeah, the game looks better, but it's not THAT CHANGE! I'm playin in the russian server and i think the game is better now. If you like Lineage 2, you'll like GoD much more!
They already listed what some of the changes are.... why dont people ever search then post a QQ.
Some of the changes are more fluent movement of your Avatars and when they are riding horses. Also I think some of the rendering/colors have been tweaked also. Other then that I have no clue
yea but that isnt a graphical change or improvement as they claimed..
Huh? they never said its going to be a complete revamp with this awasome new Engine and the game going to look like AION. NcSoft did the graphic update like Blizzard did. Where they improved on the textures and updated stuff. Only way to over haul it to what i guess your assuming is to add a whole new engine. Also are you sure your not thinking of the new Lineage Eternal? Since that the one that has higher graphic? If not then ya you can only do so much to a 7yr old game
Also Idk what you think improvement means but more fluent avatar movements is a improvement........
Of course, the minimum specs of that likely would knock out a lot of potential players. Lineage II on the low-end specs, and I guess that for the high-end, but I'd imagine that'll be a sub game like Aion.
It's Unreal 3 and at the moment that game runs better on my rig than lineage 2 lol. The reason is that L2 runs on a very old Unreal 2 engine that they just keep piling shader effects on top of and the engine is hitting its limit. I wouldn't expect much of a graphical improvement with GoD. For what the other guy is expecting they would need to upgrade their engine to something like Unreal 3 which will not happen because they'd have to completely rebuild the game from scratch.

All characters have fingers now.
Thats not a improvement... ppl should really learn what the words they are using mean. Thats a WHOLE different game that will be way theme parkish and heavily base its game play around its story like ToR doing.
Yes you can see the graphics are better from a game coming out in 2012 but he wasnt asking for another game was asking about GoD, so no not a improvement to l2
and if they improve graphics what then?
we will need crossfire in our pc to play in a siege or mass pvp?
guys ffs
Did you not even read what I posted and NcSOft posted some info over some of the changes.
Again there was some updates done to the Engine for move fluent movements, I think also some of the texture rendering was improved on to. ALso it was more so what Blizzard did to WoW was nothing HUGE just made some improvements on a old engine

i didnt see any improvements in ruoff i only see more npcs nothing is optimised
they could pass l2 in the new engine and unify almost all the scripts into several dynamics but noo instead the patched sm3 into an old engine and make it even heavier LOL :D

Is this true ??? because if they added ShaderModel3 support it's HUGE news !!!!!!! (it's the same model used in UE3) , also , somebody was saying that all toons have fingers now , can someone post a detail screenshot of caracter models?? OMG OMG.
thanks for the photos !
i see minimal change but what's important is that
THERE IS IMPROVEMENT !
great :D
Yeah, but exist thousand of minimal improvements like this one...
I see many things that L2 don't have NOW and in the new client you see in the most places where I passed by (not too many)...some effects like light, shadows, dust, mist, leafs falling from the trees, and much more.
Lineage have a great world and a very cool history, this game deserve a new chapter, with a new engine! Like Guild Wars 2 will be.
I printed this right now on the russian Goddess of Destruction server...what you think now? =P
l2 needs to be optimised not adding more heavier graphical improvements
try to play in full details(and i mean full..) in a siege/mass pvp :D
and if they improve graphics what then?

don't be silly.. just because an engine is perhaps updated.. with additional graphical enhancement doesn't MEAN it'll slow you down anything more..
The excisting engine is already over burdened... it's been at it's max for awhile.... and needs to be put down...
32bit limits are being hit.. the client doesn't use a Large Address Aware function call at all.... IF they moved from the directx 8.0/8.1/9.0 to something like directx 10/10.1/11 ... we'd see a significant change..
Moving the game to unreal 3 engine isn't entirely difficult.... almost all of the animation and texture/game data itself is transferable...

But then all the cheap people with video cards 5-6 generations old that claim it's good enough will have to upgrade and will come here and cry about playing L2 on an obsolete PC from 2000, and how it should still be good enough for L2
Essentially no matter what NC does some *** will cry about it

more textures=more load times=hdd lag (and yes many ppl dont have ssds to limit that down)
how is that the engine isnt using PAE? every game by default from ue has pae extension in it but you can disable it you can force it but the problem isnt the game itself but the OS
the problem is that if you pass in the new engine some features cant be excluded from that and thefore you will need a new card (not to mention the lag problem that will cause at sieges)
Not really. Only when you wear R+ grade gloves you get individual fingers. Past grades still have the glued fingers. :p
The original beta, prelude and C1 characters all had fingers, and they had a much more detailed char model; it was soon obvious that 2004 computer graphics could not handle the stress of rendering two thousand characters fingers with buffed physiques; so around C2 we got a graphical update that lowered the player character model polygon count and fused their fingers together ever since.
I think it took a couple chronicles more before they got the ability to blink.

Except a 100 dollar graphic card today has triple to quadruple the raw processing power a 100 dollar graphic card had in 2000; let them cry.
Perhaps not porting it over to UE3, that would be too much considering the size of the game, but coding it to make use of 65 bit OS and more video and memory RAM? Or coding in multithreading, it would help with this kind of game.

Well thus why ppl still play WoW lol they still can use there toasters and hamster wheels to play it and think they are cool for running it on max lol.
Im sorry I dont lag or really have no issues in L2 even tho I have 12gigs, 2 580 cards and FiOs =P. Only issue I have is getting stuck in random spots lol in some of the towns

They would have to rework ALOT to port it to UE3 since alot of stuff would changed. Also AION still doesnt have a working 64bit client (korea only) lol you think they get one for L2 lol

Ooh! I didn't know that. I wasn't around when L2 was beta, thanks for the info though. :)
I think at C4 we got to blink until they removed it again in CT1 if I recall correctly. We do get it back in GOD though. :)
Dont think they did....... But eh cry Engine 1 is very bad with MMO's. Yes AION using it but NcSoft had to CHANGE A LOT to get the Cry 1 to work. Now Cry 2 and 3 tho are more MMO friendly

Well, if its true, then a second license but using the same tweaked engine sounds feasible to me.
