As an x DAOC vet..I'm wondering which classes would you suggest that fight from range and are significant damage dealers. Please mention the race as well if it influences you suggestion.
typically, archers (85+) might be a great outlet for you. although you should know Summoners can do good with a bow, as well as enchanters, daggers and warriors and tanks.
Mages (85+) tend to simply be mages only as there are no Wand type weapons, nor auto-casting.
- Dark Elf = higher Dmg
- Elf = Higher Crit, Evasion
- Human = Good balance between the 2
this is the same for magic and physical atks
check the base stats(and what the stats mean) also look at skill listing to see which would match your play style and then just try the class, many people try a few classes before finding one they stick with. for me its elf rouge (i love speed evasion and stabbing things up close and personal)
only you know your proper play style so trial run a few chars 1-40 gonna be a whizz come the 1st so don't worry about spending a bit of time trying out chars.
This is correct, VR will apply as a chance to all physical attacks both ranged and melee. It is no longer going to be a guaranteed regen but a chance on hit type of skill.
As far as archer classes, they all have their good points and bad points. Same thing with mages.
To kind of reiterate on what FreakishDude stated...
except for the fact that after 85 none of that is in any way true, you're absolutely right.
Sorry I meant to state I was referring to base stats. I haven't played any server's past 85... but then again I don't think anyone else has either... at least not on a retail style server with all of the new updates that NCSoft has not released yet.
Aeons ago, yes. nerf not noticeable now.
Didn't they also add 40+ magic skills to allow summoners to deal damage to mobs without having to rely on their summons alone?
the only real thing holding back an enchanter from using a bow is the decreased STR DEX AND CON values; but with the proper buffs and equipment (remember: +4 to different pieces of gear will give different bonuses) it shouldnt hurt so bad as it used to.
tl;dr its more gear dependent but still do-able imo.
