I Am New In Official Lineage, So I Have To Ask Something About Players' Behavior, Did Always Players Come And Get Your Drops? I Had Never Seen That Before In Any Prive Servers, And It's Very Annoying.... :(
Look . When L2 was not F2P there were only a few % that were making this behavior ! Now you A LOT ! Blame the new ppl :P ( not all ofc). :P
How long did you say you have played L2? 2 months? Ofcourse they will pick your drops if they need it lol. This game is competitive and retail is the best example for that

Edit: last time I played on retail (2 years ago) there was even better example for that - bots picked up all drops lololol
I Am Playing A lot Of Years L2, 4-5 Or More, But Just Never Played In Official, And I Was Surprised From That , Making lvl 1 Chars And Come Pick up Someone's Else Adena, Seems Really Noobish To Me

Yes and i am sure you are :P Np btw.
Okay everyone this is the deal. When you kill a mob non-quest items are soul bond for several seconds, after that they are free to the world. When you choose to kill continually to increase you leveling rate and not worry about your drops you are sending up a flag that you give less value to the items all over the ground.

Two options: Kill all those who value stuff on the ground or pick up you stuff while you have it on lock down... this is by design.
I't not that I have to prove anything to you but 2 years ago I was on Luna in one of Einheit's smaller clans right when the server was bot paradise. I don't want to be mean. Just didn't post on forums back then ;)

Best way to put it

Yea, but honestly I wouldn't mind a few min longer on that timer.
dont be selfish and let the poor get some of your richness

Most private servers automatically pick up loot. Thats why you dont see many people out grabbing stuff out of the field.
I'll admit that if I'm running along and see a field of gold I'll stop and take a quick look; if someone is obviously killing mobs near by I'll continue on my way, but if I don't see anyone nearby I'm going to start picking everything up.

If you want the drops from your kills then start picking them up as you go, other wise as Dracha said it becomes a free-for-all, and I'll be happy to clean it all up.
Great...now i feel like stealing >_>

Let me give you a couple of examples that go through my head when i see a single player in one spot that leaves literally 50 piles of drops.

1.It's a bad written bot that doesn't pick the drops = pick the drops
2.It's a player that doesn't care for his drops = pick the drops
3.High level player that doesn't need 90% of the drops = pick the drops
4.Start killing in the same place and can't tell which one is who's = pick drops

Your drops are yours and no one can pick them for a period of time.
After that you know very well that everyone can pick them up.

I know what you mean because people took my drops too but in my case it was a single drop from one of the two mobs i was fighting. And while i was saving my life killing the second mob someone comes by picks up my drops and leaves...

That's terrible but i have a big heart lol and don't give a **** :)

I gave an example with 50 piles of drops because it's quite different from my point of view.

I don't understand why would anyone leave all their drops laying around when they know that anyone can pick them up, in which case i assume it's a case of 1, 2, 3 or 4 :)

Is leaving your drops like that something normal on retail servers?
If so i wish to apologize to the single player that didn't say a thing while i collected his laying around 50 drops ^-^ sowwwy <3
1.In real life you see a guy drop 50 EU or $ or w/e currency.
2a. You tell him "Hey, bro, that's your cash"
2b. You pick it up and put it in your pocket

It's pretty much the same in L2.
But the results are:

B: You have money in your pocket that you didn't do **** to earn and can spend them on w/e you want/need
A: You have a clean conscience and a big smile on your face, but you still can't afford that great shoes you wanted to buy

;)
meow.
Up till now I didn't had much trouble with other players picking up my drops. It happened only few times. In this kind of situation I was stopping xping, warning the delinquent and getting ready to PK :D

If you are range class, it sux to pick up drops after each kill. Especially when you kill mobs with just 1 critical strike before it gets close to you >_<

Where do you grind?
When you import third world players, you get third world problems. Before f2p, the playerbase was small enough that this kind of behavior could be stamped out either by pk or threat of pk. Now there are lowbie/poor players all over the ******* place and they will grab whatever they can. If they die, oh well they just come back. piles of pk adena are worth a lot more to a level 50 then the measily exp they lose even if you do kill them. It's so annoying. I dont necesarily want my drops, and usually dont pick them up, but ***** christ I dont want some third world begger following me around like Im their personal welfare machine. With 2 days to godd, murdering them is not an option due to the pk rule changes coming up. Ugh. I cant even kill half of them if I wanted to since they get pk protection buff.
As with every MMO, especially F2P ones there are a lot of issues regarding players' behavior.
I hope NCSoft can deal with it effectively but I also hope NCSoft won't ban IP from Asia, not every countries in Asia is a third world countries and not every third world player is a jerk.
But if those jerks are a majority, I will sadly accept the ban IP option.
Cheers
If you don't want others to pick up your drops, do so yourself first.

I mean - I can understand why you wouldn't want to pick them up. In some places (soloing in Sel Mahum, for example), they are really not worth your time, so even I just grab some HP herbs, whatever other valuable drops I see and tell every lowbie nearby they can have the adena. Picking them all up only slows me down, and the profit from this place is from the quests, not the drops.

But in general, and in places like ToI, Pavel Ruins, Ketra, Varka, SV, Beast Farm, DV and so on, which drop good money and other nice things? I pick them up as I go. You should too. ;)

Well, I've been pulling trains on my sub DN and having my box nuke em oop in transform. Stopping to pick up the adena isn't really efficient, and tbh I don't care if some newbie picks the adena, but when you ask them not to pick the herbs half of them just ignore you.

On a side note, some of my friends have simply made low level PK toons in common gear and they keep them logged out in the xp spot. That seems to solve the problem most of the time.
you heard it fresh beginners , port oren - sel mahums. mobs arent agro , u can freely go and pick up everyones adena there .

dont forget Drops get removed from ground after 10 mins, NC did this cuz to many ppl left their drops on ground back in C-4, server got laggy cuz of no one picking drops
Also if you hunting out in the open, if its not full of lowbies picking up stuff that you aren't, it stops the other players from killing while they pick up stuff.

I do the same thing in SV, grind while nevits is on, and then afterwards run around and pick up all the stuff.

I think its funny you see people leaving stuff on the floor and everything disappears after 10 min, but the minute you start picking it up, they start to too. Its funny sometimes. Plus its obvious what i'm doing while running around on a strider/fenrir you can see me coming miles away lol.

I Find It Very Annoying To Read Your Post Cuz' You Are Writing Like This. And I Find It Noobish. I Also Pick Up The Drops It's Their Problem If They Don't Pick It.
I Rather Get The Money Then Let Others Pickers Or The Server To Have It. If You Have A Problem With That You Can Always Flag On Me/Others And Let's Do Some Pvp.

It Took Me 3 Min To Write It Down This Way, And I Find It Very Disturbing. You Must Be Used To It Aye?

Gg
Hi, im one of the many ppl that played private servers and are migrating into official... let me tell you, most of their behavior are VERY annoying. Even on high rates where the drops are x10000 new ppl would just port to the main cities and start begging for adena/items. Even worse, they start spamming u with trade requests and beg in their own foreign language. So if you were trading/buying items you would accept trade assuming it comes from the trader/buyer, and find out that you cant trade with him/her anymore because 10 beggers are spamming you and him/her with trade requests.

Don't wanna sound like a jerk but is mostly the 3rd world newbies like others mentioned, 90% coming from spanish speaking countries (my own people :o ) and brazilians and don't even have the decency of even asking you if you speak their language before writing what it may seem gibberish with the words "adena pliz"

It didnt even occur to me this would happen here untill I saw this thread. Hopefully this behavior won't follow when GoD launches :D
Some guy asked me for 300k last nigh, while I was on a toon with well over 100mil.

I told him I had no money for him and he said something back in spanish.

I can only guess he wasnt being nice, sadly I didnt write it down to google it though.

I think next time someone begs me for money I go pk some fresh priv server newbs in the fields.
I have played on private servers before, and I can't really understand why people shouldn't do quests/farming/selling stuff if they're in sore need of money.
he asked about drop protection system. when toon kills mob, others who do not killed that mob can't collect dropped items for 15s.
p.s. to thread author. Can You Write More Capital Letters On Every Word In Sentence To Be More Cool?

A guy pmmed yesterday when I was on dion

Can I have some adena plz? I will rec you.
Only 5m plz.

It's the bad habit of having autoloot on priv servers. Having some more time to collect drops would be nice -- for example, in Guild Wars you have 10 minutes before the drop gets unassigned.
dont be selfish and let the poor get some of your richness

No.

Why in gods name should I lift a finger to help any private server trash here?
You have time to pick it up before they can. don't cry.
You have time to pick it up before they can. don't cry.

This has happend to me on private server were any one can come pic up raid drops. Also in some were someone comes gets last hit and gets the drop.
Funny how some people obviously hate new players, even going so far as to accuse them of engaging in illegal activity (playing on private servers) and calling new players "third world" or "trash."
Those who were on easy free servers most likely stayed there unless the server itself was shut down. Most people who started playing when the game went free2play are those who felt the game was not worth paying for, but is fun to play now and then. Basically, GoD is a new game, new engine, new rules. That's why so many people are picking it up... That, and of course because it doesn't cost them money to try it out for a month or two now.
I pick up everything that lies on the ground (including arrows) because I have a habit to spam the pick-up button while moving between mobs. I pick up all my drops and everyone else's as well, if I find out they don't really care to pick them up in time. :p

At the moment this influx of beggars and penny scavengers doesn't really bothers me: moreover I find it quite amusing to annoy them by killing a huge train of mobs then relentlessly picking up absolutely everything while they are helplessly standing around.
ive been blocking so many people in the last few days, whenever i am in town people beg for adena....

there is an insane influx of broken english on the server as well

it will be interesting once some new zergs form up... although i think the top players will migrate out of those clans quite quickly...

time will tell.
I don' t make a habit out of looting fields of gold, but if I am XPing in an area where there are other people nearby and it's not sparkling, then it's mine.

In the 6+years I've been in L2, (Deviane, Chronos), this has caused issue only a couple of times. It has come to blows when the other person whinged about it, but a swift slap with the 2-handed made him reconsider his insults.

As for people in town begging all the time, I usually ask if they know the quest that gives 100m adena and takes 10 seconds.. they reply that they don't know it; to which, of course I reply that neither do I.

One player was actually asking for Adena to be mailed to him..
I would have loved to have been sat beside him when he received my email, saw the gold pile and cried into his milk when he saw it was only 1a.. well worth the 1100 adena to send it. I wish I had screenshot his response to me. :)

I'm an archer and I never had an idea to not pick up my stuff come to my mind.... even when the servers were dead. You never know, serve rmight crash or eletricity/internet goes down.

Well it's not really accusing someone of doing something they admit to. The OP says that it's different on his private server.

And yeah, it's getting REAL old seeing all of the "how come it works this way here but on my private server it works that way?" threads...
That might be because your private server had only 100 users.
Or, woe be me, autoloot.

Taking peoples drops is only possible after your original looting rights from doing most damage to the mob expire.
If you want your stuff, pick it. Welcome to Lineage 2.
