Major Oversight Found. Fix needed. Please..?

Any player can run up, 2 shot your pet, and not even turn purple so you can retaliate. Their name stays white, so when you go to attack them back *you* turn purple and open yourself up to exploitation.

Seriously. Their name doesnt even change color. This wouldnt be such a severe issue if NCSoft had adjusted pet xp to level normally with the massive change in player xp.

However, given that im almost level 40 and the pet is yet only 25.... i see this as a major issue that needs to be resolved with tomorrows downtime (if possible).

Plain and simple, if someone comes up and kills my pet, their name should turn purple so i can retaliate and not lose hours upon hours of work. Can you imagine how awful this would be if this simple oversight was well known within the community? Or how much more painful this will be at higher levels in the game? Ive played this game on and off for years and never knew such a cheap tactic, and boy have i seen some cheap low down dirty tactics in this game over the years... from tricky player stores and sales to illegal programs to fields full of bots untouched and unpunished.

Please let me be clear, i love PvP and every single aspect of it. From death penalties to item drop. I love every bit of it. However, an aggressive act is supposed to turn your name purple/flag you so the aggression can be returned in manner. Period.

I see a few options to remedy this amateur oversight in game design;

1) Lessen the PK penalty so i can go red and teach this ***** a lesson.

and/or

2) Make the attacking players name turn purple for an aggressive act against my pet.

3) Ignore issues like this, cause a few select people to just make perma red accounts and 100% positively make everyone suffer for the havoc that will soon ensue. Let a few players get fed up start targeting random newbies for general revenge/grief tactics and make the whole community suffer as a whole.

Stay on top of these issues and watch GoD become a total success, as is already being shown.

Thanks!
A concerned player.
Just a heads up, pole partying and pets can't delevel just like chars, so no risk of them dying and dying.

Also quit crying, res that pet and take it to toi.
Oh, and get a mentor; pet gets 200% exp too; it is far too easy to level them now.

what you ask for is a minor detail.
Are you slow? Illiterate? or just plain ******* dumb?

The hardest part of leveling a pet is the pet dying, and losing 3 to 5% of its exp.

My wolf is 34 now, I'm 65, I can level it faster bringing it with me during a party; it levels up twice for each level I get, it was 28 when I got it out of its collar when GoD started and I was around its level.

the hardest part is keeping it from dying when soloing; but they gain a stupid ammount of exp that only goes up since they get it proportionally to what YOU get.

since they can't delevel anymore, you can risk having it out until you can park it correctly, it's annoying but not difficult; pre GoD I put it back in th ebag because it kept dying and deleveling, now he doesn't.

This guy just wants to use that as a justification to modify the PK system; what if they kill his pet? res it and continue or let it rest a while in the bag or the floor, res it when you port out; simple as that.

In a party in ToI with the mentor buff; it gets 12 to 15% on white mobs for a full pull; dies a couple of times, but it still levels up at the end of the session.

What part of that is difficult?

In fact, when I get it to 40 I am sending it to an alt so it's HIGHER level than the alt and gets even more experience from the hunt, thus leveling even FASTER.

Not my **** fault he hasn't learned to level pets? You should have tried when they first came out; they had to hunt on their own basically.
@Seth

sounds like you just want to keep this as a griefing mechanism so that you can PK without losing anything in return. Attacking a pet should be a flagable (<word?) offence.

Ill take "What is "Illiterate" for 1000 Alex!"

Read the post again. I played this game long, long before GoD and even before this account was created in 06. Multiple great wolfs, kooks, and cougars under my belt.

Try reading that post one more time. C'mon lil guy. You can do it!!!
Well a pet is basically a Mob. yes it sucks but dont see them changing it and maybe dont attack the person thats your own fault
If you kill another player's pet, your name should turn red and you will receive -90 reputation points. Were you fighting any mobs at the time when your pet was attacked?

Well Iv notice attacking and killing summoners pets and normal pets many people dont turn red, maybe its a glitch or something

Wow thank you for a reply.

Yes i had just killed a mob and turned around looking for another and seen another player approaching me. I stood there thinking this person maybe had a question or something. He simply strolled up, 1 shot the pet and took off running.

No red, no purple name, no flashing purple nothing. I started attacking him instantly, and then stopped when i realized that he wasnt going to fight back and kept running. His name still white, with me purple at that time.

My guess?

He thought i was a newbie that didnt understand what a pain going red is now. So i stopped attacking him. Im sure if i would have hit him a few more times he would have died...and to be honest, i didnt want to be red so i just stopped. It just felt odd that he can do this and i cant retaliate. I really didnt feel like this is a "whine" post because i love PvP.

Hope this answer helps, and once again, even if you cant fix this problem, thank you for the reply!

I assure you i didnt attack this player before hand. I casted 3 spells at him afterwards, but he kept running and wouldnt flag back.

It wasnt any "specail" circumstance either. No AoEs... i dont even have an AoE. Im a level 36 cleric lol. I have 1 DD spell...1 slow...and a poison...

This player wasnt even close to me while i was killing the mob. I turned around and literally stood there watch him run up to me... casually 1 shot the pet... and turn around and head the direction he had just came. I immediately started casting at him..and after a few casts i realized that he was still white, not flashing or nothing and if i would have killed him i would have turned red for sure.

Hope that adds clarification for you.
Sounds like someone found a way to prevent themselves from flagging, either via an ingame glitch or a 3rd party program.
My wolf got killed in FotD by some mage and the guy did not even go purple.
someone killed my hawk and went red
Well I can think of a few issues that could cause this.
1. Some people have found a way to remove the "servitor" status from being applied to pets they killed.
2. Some people have found a way to treat all player-controlled units as being purple.
3. Some people may have developed a way to either remove purple time or lower it to mere milliseconds.
