Would you go for a crafter or spoiler? Why? Just wondering what the sentiment is after the GoD patch. I want to roll one tonight, but I've heard a lot about spoilers becoming useless. Which one is likely to make more money in the near future?
Crafters will make you decent money if you want it to sit around selling SS, otherwise you will have to grind it up to end game as everything up through S grade can be found in shops now [except SS of course]. Spoiler will get you lots of mats which you can sell to shops and people if they are after them.
All in all, if you are happy for a character to sit around doing nothing or to grind it up to the new content then make a crafter; if not them go spoiler :)
Artisan can make a ton of money at the moment, but I'm not sure whether
a) the time making that money is worth it. So far I haven't had any particular use for all this money, except maybe to buy enchant weapon scrolls which you don't really need anyway.
b) it will continue. Other classes get the crafting ability later on so the only special ability you have will be the r stuff. I decided to stick with my artisan for that reason, but it's a long road ahead and getting r recipes is going to be not fun.
Fortune Seeker levels up incredibly quickly from 80 to 85 because of its usefulness in Dragon Valley. I fully recommend making one at this point. Do Warsmiths have to turn into warriors? Fortune Seekers turn into Rogues, which is another plus, if I got that correctly.
My FS spoils mats which sell to the npc for over 100k. When grouping they are guaranteed to get some bonus adena. It doesn't really matter if the materials they can spoil are useless; the price you get from selling the materials like Dynasty blades or soulshot recipes to the NPC is more than worth it.
I'm not sure I agree with that. Other dagger classes don't level up quicker than a FS in DV parties (especially nuker or aoe parties) from 80-85. Level 1-80 is easier for a BH/FS because they can aoe well on top of the daily quests. And dwarves are awesome, so there.
Thanks, I'm leveling a scavenger now. Should I use/learn sword and sword skills till 40? What about after then? I know I will do dagger after 85 but what's best in the interim?
For single targeting, a 2 handed sword or blunt probably works best. I'm going to say the 2hs. This will remain true up through until you reach 76 at least and maybe all the way to 81 when you can get yourself Dual Dagger Mastery. A dagger isn't a bad choice at all, though, and feel free to go with that if you want. Make sure you use light armor if you use a dagger because doing so boosts your stats when you get the passive for it.
Ideally you can find or have good enough buffers to use a pole, though. Since the catacombs are gone, this isn't as good, but there are still places to do it. When you approach 70ish you can most likely AoE at ... I think it was Pavel Ruins. The one with the golem robots everywhere. From 74ish to 80 or 81 you can AoE at Forge of the Gods with a party. I'm not sure what to do anymore for the 60s since most areas are too full of players to AoE.
If you get a mentor, you will probably only need a healer or not even that for AoEing because mentors give you some extremely powerful buffs. Just make sure you choose one who can stay online whenever you're on because the buffs vanish when your mentor logs off.
I play a spoiler since C4 until GOD I did not follow the dagger path since I always like to AOE and so I went as tank, but anyway my advice is forget about the dagger/blunt skills and focus on the pole skills that's the fastest way to level up this days
