I can't help but feel though that most of what you consider "******ed players" are just newbies who are trying to understand the game and you hold a certain sense of elitism that makes you feel superior, like you shouldn't help them because they should automatically know everything.

I've never played L2 when it was P2P, however on private servers and their forums, I can still see the same complaints we're seeing here only with a different variable.
Not exactly like that Velaria, ret.arded players are the ones who make stupid topics asking for everything to be like it was in their private server, the ones who constantly annoy you and beg you for adena, and so on.
When it was not free those people for sure were less in number. Now they all marched in here.
But then again, people should not generalise because not ALL ex- private server players are like that. So yes, get used to us. :>

Ah, I see then. Well I never played a L2 private server, so at least I don't have false securities about what I do/should/would expect. The game is pretty well amazing at the moment, just how it is. Granted the lag is a bit of a turn off and the KSing is kind of out there, but at the same time I know it's just very well the hype of the game shifting over to F2P.
I'm tired of everyone complaining about the F2P though. P: Suck it up already. The game was dying without all of us flocking in.
guys the onslaught of new people will fade no true grinders will stay on the new path of quest is good but it will fade in a month it will slow down when people are like wtf i have to craft or wtf i have no quest to 99

Grow up and deal! Even tho it's just a game (would help to treat it as such), these r real ppl u deal with here and they come with a whole array of attitudes, some of them will suit u and some won't.
One of the biggest differences between the private servers and the Pay one. On private servers the GM's would go out and level toons up if they were asked or payed. They usually also had leveling rates set to 5X and up to 100X or more XP, so people that played on those servers are not use to seeing their XP bar not jumping. For those of us that played on the official servers for years, we are actually surprised how much they changed the game and surprisingly alot of us favored when the XP grind was actually alot harder.
So things such as the constant game shouts when the game first went F2P from players wanting to be leveled up my the GM's were semi annoying. And now you will see a bit of friction as the people who want the game harder try to get along with alot of people who want the game even easier.
In the end, I am sure all things will work themselves out. I really do like seeing the game bustling with people again. Now I wish they would add a few more servers, lol, because there seems to be to many people hehehe.
Pay to play was dying i wish it wasnt but it was. But yes after the new wears off you will see alot of peeps stop playing due to the still tough grind at higher lvls, theres also not much pvp except 2 times every other week. In others games you can do instanced pvp like capture the flag for points to buy stuff, and thats all the time. They dont offer much in the way of pvp anymore. And i mean organized pvp not random pvp that occurs with wars. If they offered more than organized pvp twice in 2 weeks and random war pvp or just pvp it would give peeps something else to do instead of just kill mobb, kill same mob, kill mob. I for one have been here throughout from beta on and have went the distance but yea the mindless grind that still exists at higher lvls will eventually push them away again.

But the thing is, F2P brings all those people that don't own a credit card or can't find a way to make a payment to a foreign country, which is why the servers are flooded with spanish/portuguese speaking crowd.
Don't forget the PVP that can go down when your clan attacks a fortress (which can happen anytime of the day) that is owned by another clan. Alot of the time some good PVP battles will erupt. Especially the day or so before a castle siege when everyone is fighting for the upper hand when it comes to location for the battle, or when a clan wants their castle dungeon opened and the enemy decides to take the fortress away and close their dungeon.
You don't get it, yes more players is ok. But 99% of them are ***ing t arded.

suck to be them, and sucks to be poor. i think some of the servers should have continued to be p2p so that poor trash can't ruin the game for people that aren't poor!
