New and kind of scared.

So, I've been reading around the forums while waiting for my Lineage II download. I noticed ... Like, no one takes kindly to the new players that are joining the game since the big update about it going free. That kind of worries me, as I was hoping to join a game with a nice community and now I'm wondering if I'll be able to make friends with players who know what they're doing in game.

Good news for everyone though: I've been playing multiplayer games for years now and I've already learned my manners long ago. I'm not some "twelve year old child", I'm nineteen years old. I don't beg for gold or items; I just ask for a little help now and then when I don't know what to do on the game. I'm not one of the KSers. If I get KSed, I just move on and apologize to players if I accidentally KS from them.

That being said, I really hope I can make some friends here on L2, even though I am a newbie and joined during the dreaded free launch. Don't hate all of us new players. I've noticed no matter what game you play, p2p or f2p, every one of them pretty much has their equal share of n00bs and ******s, old and new alike.

I'm a good girl, I promise. :c
Welcome ;)

Don't worry, most of the players are rly polite and helpfull.
Just don't beg for lvls/adena and don't do some weird game suggestions.

Enjoy your stay.
Hah hah. Luckily, I don't know about any of that yet or even what it is. I'm still doing my research about the game so I can start off with at least some idea about what I'm doing. Like I said, I usually only ask for help when I'm not sure what to do.

Weird...game suggestions? o.o What's that even mean? Lol.

And thank you for the welcome! c:
People are normally nicer in game than on the boards. Magmeld and Shilen are new servers so if you start there most ppl will be around you lvl. However if you want a server with more experinced played that may or may not help you with stuff try chrnos or naia.

Try to get into an academy as soon as you can this is prolly more possible on chrnos and naia. Also if you choose chrnos or naia try and get a mentor as well.

Do you know what you wanna play yet?

Hope this helps =)
naw, no need to worry^^
What they hate here at the moment are those kind of players wit 1-5 forumposts just crying over every aspect of the game, begging for p-server like gmshops or x5-x5k rates.
People who refuse to listen to reasoning of any kind and sooner or later start insulting others because "everyone is against them" ;)
15 x exp, billions of adena, and such..
Like was stated already please don't ask everyone for adena.
I get 3 Pm's a day asking for adena..
You will find most people to be friendly and helpful.
What server will you be playing on?
Welcome Valeria!

There are plenty of good folk here. As Dreamer said, don't beg and you'll be cool.

It sounds like once you shake off the newness of the game and get in the groove you'll be good to go. If you're on Chronos or Naia, there are a lot of well established clans that you could get into early on...especially with the mentor program.

Have fun!
I'll definitely try to get a mentor as soon as I can. Hopefully they're better then some of the mentors on other games. I'm not sure if you get perks here, but on other games, I've noticed people will apply to be your mentor but never talk to you or help you learn. They just want that pretty penny after you reach a certain goal.

Academy? I need to look that up as well to get a better idea of what that is, but thank you for bringing it up.

Well, for a class, I know I definitely want to play a Healer or an Archer. Though Summoner is new to me. Most likely I'll give them all a go before I find one to actually stick with.

I'm debating with Dwarf, Dark Elf, or Kamael.

Edit

- { Gwaith } : Ooh, I see then. They have to realize a ps is no where near like the game usually. I didn't even know L2 had ps's. D;

- { Jace } : I'm going to guess Adena is in game currency by this point. I'm still looking over the entire L2 web page and I'll probably hit up the fan site soon to increase that brain power. As for server? I need one that's closest to Eastern US, I would think. I only thought there were two servers, but it looks like there are two new ones.

- {Dendro } : Alright, thank you for that! Then I'll probably join on one of those two servers and hope for the best. Thank you for the welcome! c:
This will happen with every pay game that goes free to play. It happened on LOTRO too. People who were subscribers and are still playing either calm down and get over it or they move on.

So far I noticed that the game isn't as social as other MMOs. Chat is basically empty and there are probably a hundred players in the small area too so I am surprised more people aren't talkative.
@ OP

Just as side note, use a bigger size.
Hurts my eyes to read your posts ;)
Sorry about that, Dreamer! I'll keep it in mind for you from now on. c:

I have lost count of the number of times I have said "Hello", "Hi", "Howdy","Yo"
"Ti Kaneis" etc in the (few) weeks since L2 went free.

Either we have a bot issue, or an ignorance issue.
I wouldn't mind even getting back "ghs gh fjhdf jkgfjga jhf " (insert non English language here) Then I would at least know they were really there...
Ah, I hate being ignored in games too, Mole. Sometimes people talk to me when I'm AFK and I feel bad. Then other times, honestly, I just don't feel like talking since I'm focusing on something. Once I get to talking. Psh. There goes my leveling. :P

Most people don't use open chat, they use clan/alliance chat, private chat or party chat.

@ Valeria - all servers are US based, but Naia is set to European time for sieges, territory wars and such. Shilen and Megmeld are the new servers, Chronos and Naia are the established servers.
Also note that a lot of people turn off certain chats such as Open and Shout. So, while you are getting ignored by some, some just don't know you're talking. :)
That could be good or bad for me. I like a community that talks to each other, but I also hate a community that never shuts up about stupid things lol.
I have a question about mentoring. I'm reading the page for it, but I'm a bit confused. I have to be level 40 to get a mentor?
lol welcome ;)

most of people is cool, just few ******s and supremacists anyways with the actual server population i think you're going to have a good time.

just remember to have your soul/spirit shots always activated by placing em on your skill bar and right click on em .... ohh and always get free buff from the newbie helper :D

when you get certain lvls you earn stuff that you can claim in the webpage to make your journey easier....read the path of awakening to further info.

if you need some1 to kill a person for you, i'm a hit man for hire :P

Unless you turn off the combat log, it's difficult to see normal chat while hunting.

try sending a whisper or a shout, that is more noticeable, one of the things you usually block while hunting is normal chat and stick to either clan or party chat only.

Also, while it is a "simple" game skills wise, it demands a lot more concentration when soloing than other MMO's; so if you see someone fighting, don't expect them to answer right away.

You'll see why after level 40.
Welcome Valeria.

I as a player I see this thing from the other side. Too many new people are ill-mannered (pls adena, pls give me weapon, you are f*** if you not give me adena...).

I hope that you will find lots of great people! If you need help pm me in game ;) (girls must be on the same side) ;)
Welcome and don't need to worry, people are really polite , most of them. But just like in real life you will meet all kinds of people, same in game. There's people playing the game at the end of the day! I'm playing on NAIA and it's pretty cool. Feel free to ask any questions in game if you decide to begin on NAIA server.

PS; There is many new players on the Chronos and NAIA servers so don't worry about finding people at your level. Oh and, you have come to see the best MMORPG game ever. Once you get hooked, there's no going back! Playing for 6 years xD

PS; iNoisia is my clan leader <3

Hah hah. Girl's gotta have each others backs when they're not stabbing them. :P

I see that a lot from older players too. It really doesn't matter if you're level one or if you're level 80. A n00b is a n00b really.

For the most part most people are decent, and as long as you don't go out of your way to show your not coming from a private server (We like them to) you should get along decently with many others. Speaking about private servers, I know alot of people were semi annoyed when the game began and every town all you could read in chat was hundreds of people game shouting for the GM's to level them up. This doesn't happen on official, its hard enough to get them to give back weapons/armour that mysteriously disappeared. Also begging, expecially in the beginning was a bit much. But its calmed down as well.

As for the game, I find if anything, it actually pushes you into becoming friends with as many people as possible. It's not an anti-social game at all. That being said, alot of the game is about wars, drama, ect. The way to get people to really start chatting with you is to prove yourself enough to be accepted in a clan. There are alot of cloak and dagger type players in the game, lol, so don't be to distraught if your not accepted right away. By this I mean, people will create alts, and get them accepted into the enemies clan, then spy from the inside, and feed locations ect back to their real clans, so they can go out and kill them. Some people will even sneak into an enemy clan on another toon, and start drama from the inside and try to pull the clan apart by starting alot of in-fighting.

But for the most part, once you join one, and they come to know you, they will almost be like family to you. They will leave everything to come and possibly die (in-game) to protect you, help you along the way, ect ect.

As for the weird game suggestions, not quite sure if I know what that person is talking about but I do know alot of girls throughtout the years of playing who have made alot of their adena via sexting alot of the guys.

Very nice post. I like a lot of what you covered. Like I said earlier, I didn't even know there were L2 ps. I suppose I should have but still. So, at least I'm not expecting to level to 80 at the end of the day.

Huh. I would have never thought about doing that. It's pretty harsh. All's fair in love and war, right? If people have to stoop to that level to win... Well. But knowing that, I won't get too worried if I'm not accepted right away.

Sexting for...virtual money? This is why I'm embarrassed to be a girl sometimes. They're so pathetic. :c

Productive, thank you.
Productive, thank you.

Np here to help you.
Don't worry at all. Forums are a big magnet for people who like to complain. Everyone I have interacted with since the game went Free was pretty nice. In fact no one was really impatient or rude or anything. Which is a nice surprise (I came from WoW).

If you play Magmeld, thats the newest server, message Dexy in game. I can help you out or answer any questions you may have.

What's even more funny is when someone gets on vent with them and realizes that the "hawt chick" they've been spending all their adena on is really a guy!

I recently started playing as well (nearly lvl 30). I was given the same impression as you as I lurked around on these boards, but you have to remember that usually the forums are never an accurate representation of the game's player-base. Most people only post to whine and moan.

So far, the in-game community doesn't seem bad. I've run into a couple of nice people during my travels. It's way better than it was on the first day of the update.

If you want someone to tag along with, send me a message. My main, maba, is on Shilen. Also considering making another character on another server. :D

Also, can anyone tell me a good resource site for the game? It took me an hour to figure out where I could get the scroll to revive my pet x_x;

It's because along with the private server guys, a LOT of old generation players returned; and we are happy to see how much the game has improved.

We are kinda "look, see this? we used to do this all day and night, in the snow, uphill both ways, naked". And then "Thank Eva we don't have to anymore".

So it's kind of hard to take seriously new players that come and say: "it's too hard!" beause you get flashbacks of having to walk EVERYWHERE before level 60 and only rich guys being able to teleport between towns, before the newbie buffs, using soulshots sparingly, always hunting in gear a grade below the mob in mismatched armor sets, before the glowing weapons, before soloing was viable as a way of leveling; and you say "HARD? This is not HARD this is FAIR".

My favorite improvement? teleports for the hunting grounds. No more wasting half the buff round in getting there.

I'm very happy to see older players enjoying the updates. ^ ^ So many vets in games always get SO bitter when 'easier' updates are made and just want to lash out on all the newbies for it.

You have nothing to worry about. From what I've seen outside of doing the Kamaloka's it's mostly solo playstyle until you have to compete for the daily quests in the lvl 70+ zone. Based on how often you play I'd say you have between 2weeks to 2 months before you're even in that range.

It's actually better that you join now rather then having signed up 7 years ago like me (and the others complaining about the large amount of people joining now that it's free) because you will be experiencing the game for the first time as opposed to having things that you liked about it the way it was change on you.

Realistially NC didn't make the game free to play for the people that had been playing the game the last 7 years on and off or solid, they made it free to play and did a massive change to attract those new players, with the game now being free they don't care if the people that had been loyal the last 7 years or however many years stay with them, because they have this whole flock of new people to get hooked on the game.

Legacy.lineage2.com has a lot of information. However it's managed by NCsoft and no longer updated. Supposedly they are rolling out a new online Library with Goddess of Destruction... but I've seen like 2 pages go up since GoD launched.

power.plaync.co.kr Korean, Ncsoft managed. This is the most up to date information available for Lineage 2. Use Chrome and let google translate for you. Can still be difficult to read, but it certainly can be useful.

http://boards.rochand.com/ L2 Fan site. Currently displaying a 404 error... When it's up, it has a great community with lots of relevant discussions and translations from the Korean info.
I'll be honest and say I haven't read this whole thread yet. But I skimmed through the most part. Everyone is right about you will find this more so in the forums. There has even been times in games I have chosen to just avoid the forums completely, because a lot of times it can be full of nothing but negativity and jerks. Not all, but a lot. Sometimes that really is the best thing you can do. Just avoid the forums, play the game and just enjoy it :).

I'm a returning player to L2 and I'm really enjoying the update so far. As far as rude players in the game, ick, they are there, that's for sure. Perfect example. I had heard the DE wolf quest was bugged. I had searched the forums looking to see if there was an alternative to getting a pet as a DE. Aside from buying one from a player. At the time, I couldn't find an answer. I dreaded asking in chat because I just had a feeling the only reply I was going to get was rude. And it was.

Me: "Ok, I know the DE wolf quest is bugged, but I was just wondering as a DE, if there is another quest I can do to get a pet?"

Player 1: "Omg"

Player 2: "No! x97 times"

I asked an innocent enough question and these are the only responses I got, lovely. I wasn't begging for adena, asking for help or anything. Asked a simple question.

Now, I myself have played quite a number of mmo's over the years and I know that there are just jerks in all of them. I have played a lot from launch as well. So I can understand the frustration when you see the same question being asked over and over and over again in chat. But remember all, not everyone has saw those questions being asked 100 plus times. I always try to help new people in games and answer questions. I can't stand the elitists and jerks who only know how to act like that. I find it funny because at one time, they were new to the game themselves.

Welcome to the game though :). I'm sure there are lots of good people in this game. Just try to ignore the jerks, lol. It's hard to find a game anymore that doesn't have a community full of rude people. EQ2 used to have an awesome community. Gone now. I personally haven't saw lots of rude people in this game though. But that was just my first experience from asking a simple question.
Welcome to the world of Lineage2, new things may be scary, but with a little time and effort, they can become amazing adventures. I was first hooked on lineage2 in the korean beta, after that I couldn't get enough.

Now for your a class to play, healers a bit hard to level, if you don't have a party, and can be a bit boring, archers on the other hand are very fun and fast to level. The hard thing about being a Archer is that for the first 3 weapon grades, no grade-b grade, just eats your money by having to buy soul shot. Money being so important in this game, I don't know what I what I would recommend. For 1-40 the game is going to be very much chaos, players running around kill stealing every where, players attacking you and trying to kill you. Don't worry after 40 it seems to vanish players start to spread out into their own leveling zones, and work together.

Clan are pretty important to get into, many clans use a voice over IP servicer or voip. Ventrillo is what my clan on Chronos uses, they are pretty funny, and makes playing the game a lot more enjoyable when you are talking to someone. If you don't have a mic I would recommend getting on.

For the girl players out there, be on your toes, a large part of the male population in lineage2 seem to be very lonely. So don't be to much of a flirt, because to some guy it goes along way. This will lead them to become annoying or creepy.

I can't really recommend a server for you to play on, because I just play on Chronos its a good server with a friendly population, but having no experience on the other servers I can not give you a fair answer on how they are.

Remember this is a video game, and as such it is made for your entertainment and enjoyment, so please don't take the game seriously, and don't get upset when a player does something that you don't like.

BECAREFUL OF BEING SCAMMED!
When you are buying an item make **** well sure it is the item you want. If unsure on prices ask a clan member.
This thead is why we hate new players.
Oh my Valeria...i feel so bad for you....all scared and such :(

My my protective instincts are coming out and i can't resist them.

I will be your friend and help you with whatever you need...weapons,armour, jewlery, Adena....you name it and it is yours.

What server are you on??

Oh....and btw....you are a girl right O.O

The sad part about this is, you don't even have to be flirty. You just have to be nice and friendly before you are being stalked and harrased. I am a female player and I found this out the hard way. I have always tried to be friendly, helpful and polite.

I started playing mmo's around 6 years ago or so. Any time I tried to be helpful to a lot of people who would whisper me, I would then get "How old are you?" "Are you really a girl?" "Where are you from?" Now it's to the point when someone whispers me with "Hi", I hesitate in even answering back. It's sad really. The funny thing is, is LOTS of these people playing female characters are men, lol.

Countless times I have had to ignore the pervs and freaks or I have found myself logging out of games altogether becasue a player would literally follow me, stalking me in game. Pathetic. But being "flirty" isn't all that can cause you issues. Seems to me you just have to be a "real female" and heaven forbid you are friendly .
nah alot of the upper teir players who have worked hard don't like begging and hate to say this non english speaking players, granted the game isn't limited to US countries but alot of players are US based and those that still play speak good english if from another country, the large influx is nice in reality we look forward to new players leveling up fast to offer new light to this game, ive played since beta and still love this game and happy to see all the players.

i had a player that was new lvl 15-20ish, decided he was going to come to my hunting spot collect my adena i left on the ground, i tossed him 2 mill after talking to him for a min... sometimes you will find generous players like my self, sure 2 mill is nothing BUT to a new player thats D grade gear and a weapon.

typically ask for less get more imo

@autumn sup girl , *wink* i'm kidding .... enjoy the game usually with female players anonymity is your friend don't bother telling the "forever alones" your a female in this game or they'll be hounding you forever.... i am a dude but i got better things to do then hit on chicks half way across the country.

*ignore the join date, i literally made a new account in order to use the forums, i couldn't log in with my original info freakign weird*
i tossed him 2 mill after talking to him for a min...

My offer was a lot better,,,

That sounds terrible, I had some similar experiences in my days, but it was from a 15 year old girl. I was in ventrillo with my Ragnarok clan, talking with my boys having a good laugh, this girl came in to talk to my clan leader, she thought I was really funny, and kept following me around, It was very flattering, but she was much to young, I was 19 at the time. She wanted me to be her boy friend, that was not going to happen. Tho she was very cute, and I was her age I would have totally gone after her.
It's sad really. The funny thing is, is LOTS of these people playing female characters are men, lol.

Lol, very true. I have alot of toons, and I admit about half of them are female. I can still remember back about 6 years ago, (I was one of my female toon at the time), I got the hey how's it going. No sex chat, and the guy never asked if I was a guy/girl. Partied with this guy a few times, he invited me into his clan, then after a month his clan broke apart, so I invited him into my main clan at the time, where we had Vent. Lol, the sound of panic in his voice the first time I said hey hows it going. :P LMAO. The funny thing is he did end up marrying a real female that he met playing L2 after that.

Personally throughout the years, I think I know of at least 20 couples that got married because of this game. Guessing probabaly the same or more divorces over the same timeframe lol. L2 the dating service for gamers LOL.

Although 1 time I did a female friend of mine why there were so many marriages coming out of a small clan of friends and it made sense. If some guy comes running across a field to try to save a girl in trouble, even if they both end up taking dirt naps, the fact he sacrificed 4% (Back then maybe an entire night of leveling) to try saving you, it stirs up alot of emotions. Although now that I have just told this secret to a bunch of guys, I hope I don't see people tripping over each other everytime a female toon is in trouble, lol.
I just wanted to thank everyone who came to this forum to assure me the community on the game is not always as grouchy as those in game. I usually check a forum first because...you know, it's the people in the forums who play the games, so it's usually a good indicator of what you have to deal with in game.

I do appreciate all the help offers. Except everyone offering is on different servers. xD

I already know about the G.I.R.L. rule on mmorpgs. Luckily I'm not one to really care much, I'm just here to play and socialize.

- { Dr } : Girl? Er, yeah. Hold up, let me fix my tuck annnd... There. P:

Just kidding for all those who don't know. e.e;

LOL, love it!

C'mon, really? Not everybody is like this. Most of times in the clans I've been no one would treat females somehow different. Actually, girls were the ones who never made any good gear. Noone will give you items for free just because you are a girl. If you are a *** then you might get items for free but under normal circumstances no luck there. Unless someone that has never talked to a girl before in his life will just give you things because you are a girl, but I doubt that can happen today. I hope not! Also flirting is totally natural as long as it's coming from both sides.

But I guess you are right. It's the men's fault to try to be more nice with females since the majority of players are males. And we're so many males and everyone trying to be the Alpha male who gets the girl and saves the day. And again, how is that different from real life? Maybe in real life you get to see the girl before you invest!

Personally, I've learned to treat women equal to men. That means no special treatment or candy. Or opening the door, you wouldn't open the door to another woman, would you?

Hey Vel,

If you decide to play on Chronos and are in need of a Mentor I'd me more than happy to oblige. Though it will probably take me till the weekend to get my main to 85 and awakened. So if you don't have one by then PM me on Malcifur =D

Lol Skelton, you misunderstood my post. I didn't mean to offend anyone, seriously. That is honestly a lot of the experiences I have had as a female playing a female character in these games for the last 6 years. It's sometimes downright creepy. Had to actually report 1 person to a GM in WoW years ago because he was stalking me. I would do /ignore to his character and he repeatedly kept making level 1 alts just to log on and harass me some more.

I didn't mean to imply all men in games are like this. So I apologize if I came off that way. I myself actually made a male friend in WoW years ago. We are still very good friends and keep in touch to this day. He is one of my best friends in real life now.

Not to mention I actually also met my boyfriend there. We have been together for over 4 years and have a beautiful baby boy :). So I'm not saying all men are like this. But a lot can be. I have even made male characters in the hopes of not being harassed because I'm on a female character :p. But in the end, I just felt weird playing them.

One thing I have learned in life, is just because I personally am not a certain way, doesn't mean that there aren't tons of people out there who ARE like that.
WHITE KNIGHTS, WHITE KNIGHTS EVERYWHERE.

Anyway now that the "Ice" has been broken, "How you doin?"

You coming over to chronos I hear there is a White Knight there who is looking for a mentee.

Ahahahah, well said. Well, I wasn't offended at all. I just tried to clarify it a little bit for you xD But you do admit that you actually met the father of your baby IN GAME! That's a win win, win! Baby wins too!

But i still don't understand how can someone stalk you in a game and follow you around? But I've never played WoW so I don't know the mechanics of the game there >.<
@autumn sup girl , *wink* i'm kidding .... enjoy the game usually with female players anonymity is your friend don't bother telling the "forever alones" your a female in this game or they'll be hounding you forever.... i am a dude but i got better things to do then hit on chicks half way across the country.

Lol Random. And you are right. Anonymity is the best thing a lot of times. If someone starts talking to me and one of the first three sentences they say are "Are you really a girl?" or "A/SL", then it's just a quick ignore :p.

Otherwise, I am still very friendly and helpful when I can be and you can make some good friends just getting to know people :). I just learned to be a bit more cautious I guess you could say, lol.

No wait, he's not a mentor yet. But he is willing to get his char to 85 asap, just in case, Vel decides to move there.

Ah, definitely a win, win.:) It's just weird how life can work out. I never would have thought of myself meeting someone in a game and getting with them. It just...happened, lol. But couldn't be happier that it did.

And as for the stalking, it's just creepy when someone is literally clinging on to your every step in the game, whispering you and harassing you. Of course you can ignore them so you can't see their chat. But not much you can do when they are literally following you with every step you take. So many times I just logged out of that character for a while.

I really haven't played L2 very much. Played for a few months a year or so ago. Never had that issue happen here. Just recently came back with this update to give it a try again. Liking it a lot so far :).
I am playing on Chronos and I have about an hour left for the download to complete. Hopefully the patch isn't too crazy and I can start playing soon. c:

Well I'm happy that it worked out for you, and yeah it's bad that you've been stalked that way. Well, don't forget to mention your server and ig name so your fans can follow you around! hahaha
i am on chronos, my mentee slots are filled......

but i hope they will graduate or what ever it is soon, maybe onther few days, then ill love more slots

PM Sangaii in game if you need help/questions on what you can do. i work alot but i try to message back if you send mail

Lol, thanks :). I'm actually playing on Chronos server right now. When the expansion launched I wanted to start fresh and on a new server. So I made a DE on Shilen server. But getting into that server was such a pain. Went back to Chronos and remade my DE Mystic.

Not to mention that I discovered that if I made a female DE with long hair in character creation, the majority of my armor was going to give me a different hairstyle that I couldn't stand. Sounds dumb maybe, but ick. I wanted my character to look how I created her, lol. So, I just remade the character with an up hairstyle that won't change and started over on Chronos. I like that server better anyways.

for about 96k you can buy potions that change your characters face hair and hair color, they are sold by one of the merchants of mammon.

You will do fine once you get the hang of things. Ive been playing off and on for years and still haven't made any friends here yet but this time I will try a bit harder. I usually wait for someone to invite me or talk to me first, that's just me. There are alot of different people that play this game and lots of age ranges. I'm 45......
I could play more if there wasn't such a lag. D;
Well, I'm a female and have been playing off and on since beta. Sure there are jerks in the game who feel empowered by the anonimity factor (let's face it, 90% of these ppl won't say all this garbage to your face cuz the accountability factor is likely to get in the way), but mostly my experiences have been pretty awesome :) I've met some really cool and hilarious ppl in game. Almost met up with my old clannies in Vegas :) Bottle of wine, vent, and ur clan buds = awesome time!! I'm on shilien so if u ever have a char there pm me. Girls gotta stick together :) name is SilverMoon and if I ever get to figuring out my old acct info I'll be on *****yMuffin, prolly on chronos.

Muah

Oh, lmao! I have a very inappropriate name, apparently. The first word rimes with Shkanky, less the first "h", lol! Wonder if they changed it ingame too...
Oh, you're charming...
Oh, you're charming...
Ummm... Did I say something wrong??
You know something's out of place when you speak four languages and you still can't communicate. That's what happened the first day in the European server. General conversation:

I: "Hello there!"
They: *silence*
I: "Hey?"
They: "fgsfds" *walks away*

So sad. Greeks and Polish should really learn some English, I mean... come on? At least Spanish? ... German? ... ... Finnish? D:

Then there's me buffing, healing, recharging, and helping strangers I encounter. Apparently "thanks" is a foreign concept to 90% of the players. It gets in sometimes, you know...

And lag? Oh, no, don't even get me started on it. -_-

Hey, good luck, darling. You'll need it. =/

Hah hah. Don't think they heals and buffs are a privilege? Not a right? That's why I usually ignore most people and go out on my way. I make sure to say thanks when I'm healed or buffed randomly, but rarely does anyone else make the same response.

I know. I was really excited to play, only to be hit with impossible lag. I don't ever lag in games but this one. This one and AGRO. At least in this one I can move, ARGO's lag is so bad I can't do squat.

Thanks for the blessing of luck. :P

I'm not sure where you are Velaria, but I'm in the Midwest in the US and I really don't get much lag. The only place I have had a problem so far was when I went to do my first class transfer. Not sure if you have got this far yet, but it's an instanced area. My lag was so bad I couldn't even do the quest. But I turned down all my graphics and I was fine with very little lag.

I found it funny because on the day this game launched f2p, there were hundreds upon hundreds of people when I logged in. I hardly had any lag at all. But in an instanced area with noone but me, a few mobs and an NPC, it was unplayable? Lol, who knows.

Anyways, aside from that area, I can run this game on fairly high setting quite well with very little lag normally.

But ARGO . I played that game in closed beta. It seemed pretty cool and I was enjoying it. It was something a bit different. But the lag was terrible in that game for me as well. Which is the number one reason I didn't give it more of a chance.

Thanks Allcars :). Someone had mentioned that to me, but they didn't say where the merchant was located. They said they randomly spawned in cities.

I had not got very far on the character I had remade, so it really wasn't that big of a deal. Was only level 21 or so, which goes by in the blink of an eye in this game now.

Thanks a lot though. I'll write that down for future reference in case I make a human or something and her hair ends up being some horrible hairstyle I didn't make in character creation, lol.

Isn't that right Skelton? Us women you know? Lol j/k. Couldn't resist. :p

I figured in the lower Eastern states, I wouldn't have much of a lag.
But then, I may not be lagging as much as I think I am. The character movement may not just be as fast as I imagined it would be. I mean, I lag bad in the starter area, that's a fact. But when I got out of it, I was confused as to whether I was lagging or if the game is just in general, a little slower. Even with graphics turned down. :c

You could have come into some odd control problems, sometimes I think i feel lag when a character doesn't go to were i clicked, after the new update my characters seem to get stuck on nothing a lot more than they used to. If you open your options and under the game menu you should see an option enter chat. This makes it so when you press enter, you can start to chat, but not only does it just do that you can also use awsd to move around.

I hope this helps with some problems, also if you have gpu animations turned on it created a lot more lag for me.

It's just the amount of people. I have no lag if there's 20-30 people around, but when you have over 100 or so in one area, the lag gets pretty bad. I have to point my screen to the ground just to get better performance. :<

On the bright side, Magmeld isn't as laggy as other servers I've heard complaints about.

@OP it all deppends on noobs behaviour. Are you nice? Respectful? Can you speak english?
Welcome :)

I have the chat thing down so I can use WASD. I usually end up running three feet then suddenly appearing back in a spot when I use it. I think GPU animations are off but I'm not entirely sure.

I still lag pretty bad on Magmeld. Last night when I was on at one in the morning, it wasn't bad but... Who wants to stay up to 1 in the morning every now just to get a smooth hour of game play? :P Guess I just gotta wait for the excitement and hype to download so everyone shoos.

I point my screen down at the ground too to run around some times. x_x; It's the only way.

I just want to say unreal 2.x really is a old and super buggy engine, I have a pretty breastly computer, i7 950 3.5ghz 12gb of ram 120gb ssd 560/mbs 5870 1gb.

I still lag I don't even.... But sadly I always remember Lineage2 running like ****, and there is no combat as satisfying as lineage2s so I stay and play.

I'm sure I'll eventually get use to it lol. What's...unreal 2.x? Is that what the game runs on or...?
/shot
Yeah thats the engine the game runs on. Its probabaly about 10 years old now.
Well, just gotta make do with what you got, right? C: I'm enjoying the game, so I'm trying to just ignore the lag. I've noticed it's not nearly as bad in some areas. Like out in the fields. So that gives me something to look forward to.
That is the version of the game engine Lineage2 uses.

Yeah its all the players that populate the screen at the time.
Poor Chronos. Even at one in the morning my time, they were heavily populated. The other original server too. Naia? The two new ones were light and normal though. I could see how old timers could get upset just by the sudden lag. Those who have it.
The sad part about this is, you don't even have to be flirty. You just have to be nice and friendly before you are being stalked and harrased. I am a female player and I found this out the hard way. I have always tried to be friendly, helpful and polite.

The funny thing is, is LOTS of these people playing female characters are men, lol.

I kinda had to reply this cause I'm guy, married for 22 years, I have a daughter that's gonna be 18 this month and she plays L2 off and on again and even though some (actually most)of my characters in game are female (because I took over some of hers when she got tired of them) I never really think about the other persons real life gender. I just play to have fun and that's that. It's nice to meet new people that like the same games that I do, doesn't matter to me if they are fifteen or fifty, male or female.

But, yea I have seen exactly what you are talking about there though, some guys think this is a pick up joint or something and sometimes it can be rather funny!!
Kind of late there, lol. I'm pretty sure everything has been covered throughout this topic.
okay, Im glad for that, but I kinda felt like I need to write that down even if I didnt read this topic. Lol what a sentence <.<

Tell your daughter "how you doin."

All jokes aside, it seems a lot of family members play together in this game dads mothers brothers sisters. I find this a little odd, I haven't really come across this in other games. I know brothers and sisters that play together but never parents with their kids.

I think its sweet families are being more socials with each other this day and age compared to being more distant like what seemed to be the past.

I would absolutely hate if anyone in my family played the same mmorpg that I do. e.e; Luckily for me, they find games to very very boring and pointless. Except my step dad, which thinks he might like WoW now thanks to that Chuck Norris commercial. I only pray he's trolling.

Same here, I used to play counter strike with my brother back in the day, but it was always terrible, and he was always yelling and stuff. I made most of my best friends online, because we shared most common ideologies on video games.

So now I have friends all around the world, I recently visited a good friend of mine in Australia, after meeting him in Ragnarok online 5 years ago.

I didn't even make it past the first area of that game. :c When I played it, it was already missing quests in the newbie area so I just left.
no one takes kindly to the new players that are joining the game since the big update about it going free

Well you probably haven't met me :D
All games have jerks, someone who ruined their community by acting like they own a game and ROFLSTOMPED all new players by any type of griefing and other uncool moves, practically alienated their own community from new players, on some games these are the majority, on others: just a few

But there are always good people, who were put off by the act of new players like begging and throw away some obscene words mindlessly

All I want to say is: treat other people like you want to be treated by them, that's all,
welcome to the game, enjoy your stay, beware of Raid Boss (and remember if it's a red name it's dead ):D

Note: I've been gone long enough.... so it's probably a second newb experience for me too here :D

...kinda like a second puberty...

Welcome Velaria, and dont worry, the L2 boards always had the worst MMO community ever, with unfriendly self-righteous useless trolls, but you can still find a lot of nice and friendly people ingame :)
