My First PK Incident (Kinda Fun)

I have no idea how to intiate PK on people but I tried to stop a PKer from PKing someone. I saw a purple-named player start attacking someone so I tried to save them and started beating on the attacker. Well the victim still died and the attacker just ran away instead of turning around and killing me. After that my name was purple for a short time and then someone tried to kill me but I got away.

What I don't understand is that the game doesn't show the person's level or hp when attacking them. It would be nice if I could see those two stats because then I would know if I am way out of my league trying to jump in and save someone and if my damage even is significant enough for the person to care.

Anyways it was pretty exciting trying to help out but I guess I didn't have a big effect. Just wanted to share :)
That's why people use radar. Its illegal but gives you all the stats including what buffs the other person has. Also it gives location of all toons that are in your immediate area and i believe it will also locate where a specified toon is located.

You can turn on health bars of other players in your game options. Level and a numerical HP value are not shown because this is a pvp game which makes that information valuable to be kept secret.

You can determine level somewhat by the gear they are using. There are a few other ways to determine relative level, for example if the clan name is yellow, they are under 75.

Also, you can turn on health bars of your target in the game options. This won't tell you how many HPs they have, but it will tell you the % of HP they have left.
I hate being kited so much. I wish melee classes could have some kind of gap closer. Maybe it is just because I am 15 and don't have a skill like that yet (dagger user). Also, thanks I'll turn on those options!
melee has a gap closer at a higher level.

youll get your gap closing skill at 40. most other melee dont get one till 83. then again most other melee end up using a bow sometimes too.
One more question about PK:

I might be misunderstanding how the system works. I thought purple name means bad... I kill someone with a purple name then I turn purple and then someone else kills me. If I kill a PKer shouldn't I be rewarded instead of punished? I decided to not kill anymore PKers because it is annoying having a purple name and dying just from protecting other people.

I decided I don't like the PK system anymore lol.
They have added an option to see the other players hp go to your options area it has settings you can see hp bars of opposing players.
you are making some confusions.

you were just pvp flagged.
you didn't pk anyone. Read the info about pvp on the main site.

Purple only means youre in the spirit of player-vs player. at this stage any purple player you fight earns you a PVP point, to use in the removal of PK points.

PVP points can earn you a great name in L2; some who have thousands of them are among the top clans in L2. they know things about your skillset that makes them a great player. they know how to counter your arrows, or cripple your capacity to inflict damage.

theres a whole other game to play in PVP.
I was looking at my character screen and it says PVP/PK 1 / 0. Is that good or bad?

O.O Come on Spud!

Most high level PvsP is "My scripts better than your script" based.

Off Battlefield:

White/Blue/Green = Passive
Purple = Combative
Red = Chaotic

Battlefield:

Anyone is fair game as everyone is either combative or chaotic.

----------------------

Killing people that are passive results you in becoming chaotic; that's a PK. Killing/attacking someone who is purple (combative) is PvP; most of the time people start attacking to get the other person to attack back but will stop eventually to avoid killing.

There's more to it like clan wars, but those are the basics. By the time you're involved in a clan war you should have a grasp of everything.

never said they werent. hax and pvp have always gone hand in hand in every MMO; just pointing out the obvious.
Isnt pvp/pk system explained on the website? Used to be.
Yep PVP 1 - PK 0 is good. You won't be punished for join in on PVP, aside from the fact others may also join in on the fun, and try to get their PVP score a point higher.

The only time you are punished is if you attack someone that is not in PVP mode (Not Purple/red) and they don't attack back and you kill them. That is when your PK score increases and things go downhill.
