if they don't open, they do explode though.. (I can't say if I have taken damage though, I can't remember).
The drops are excellent when they open.
from my experience they open about 5-10% of the time.
A key will cost 2300 or so adena, but the rewards for "spending" the 10-15 keys is worth it.
As for where they spawn. Most people who know, wont tell you; once you find one, look around that same place regularly - it will be back.
So far I've seen 2 but could only reach 1 and it successfully opened.
Got quite some juices (buff pots), some 1 time use transform scroll, elixirs and perhaps few other random **** things I can't remember atm.
no all chars can do this and you have to have materials in your inventory
there should be a table on net somewhere on how many you need to get a treasure box google is your friend
