I guess i'm trying to appeal to anyone who bought and played this game back when it first came out around 2004, and i'm just wondering what the rest of you think.
Not to sound like i'm complaining or anything, but after years away from Lineage 2, I heard it was F2P and decided why the hell not. All I could think for the entire 15 minutes I started playing again this morning was, "What the hell happened?"
Yes, yes, I read the lore after this total shock and understand I surely missed a lot of the progressing story-line.
But this wasn't the Lineage 2 I knew and loved, that I still have occasional nostalgic memories about from back in my teenage years. From someone who was incredibly excited to play it again, and to explore the noobie villages (wow...), etc. It just felt very weird and alien to me, and I had to write about it.
Guess those 15 minutes were all my Lineage 2 relapse took. Anyways, thanks for the earlier years NCSoft.
Surely after years you didn't expect the game to be the exact same.
Haha I guess I excepted it to sort of look the same at least, just with new things just added on. Stupid of me, I suppose. I've been way out of the MMO scene for a while so I don't really know what's been going on.
Actually if you had come back say 10 days ago, your old starter villages would have looked almost exactly as you remembered them. They were destroyed with this latest update. They were untouched, and most of the mobs were the same as always, they just had alot less of them. For instance SoDA bridge only had about 4 skeletons on it, instead of the old 20-30.
From what it was to what it is, the game has improved a lot. At least for what it is Lv 1-40 you don't have to grind for countless hours, waste your time doing the insane 2nd class quest there used to be and do the same **** over and over again.

No longer can we say lolWoW. We are lolWoW now.
WoW still looks like a box of crayons threw up on my monitor though...
I am level 54 and my statistics say I have killed more than four thousand mobs. So, the "ye'old" grinding of L2 is still present.
They just made it easier to reach level 40.
I like this game better than the one there was before. I think if the server had gone free to play prior GoD I would have already quitted out of boredom. And I am sure that many of the people who recently joined the server too.
Think you all veterant players have to start trying to look at the glass half full. Don't be so pessimistic :)
As for the "****** up" Pk system, you have to wait. Wait until people reaches higher levels and the reputation **** gets easier. Then PK will be as usual as it used to be.
Now imagine Pk system was as before. 8k, 7k, 6k I dont know how many people are playing, any number serves as example. Imagine all of those people in the same area fighting for mobs. There would be a PK every second. It would turn out to be impossible.
Give it a shot, wait some time and see how that works out.
