Since there never was a ***** Christ (at least as far as I have heard) there can't be any Christmas trees; so it makes sense that they are Holiday Trees.
Edit: Seriously Je*us is censored; talking about overkill on the censorship.

Ah the censor filter. If you knew the words there are in it, you would need to roll a sanity check.
I don't know if buddhist monks still are the fearsome warriors they were in the XIIIth century, but what's funny is that we immediately imagine a rude word where the censor hits. And everybody knows what comes in mind when you read "a ***** christ" :D

At the very least there never was a Christ in the world of Lineage II. I'm sure the temple of Einhasad would've mentioned it by now, be it as a "Oh noes, we were wrong all the time!" or "Die, heretic!" or perhaps "Uhm, man? You don't make any sense at all, considering our conception of the divine."
So it'd be kinda strange to refer to decorated firs and stuff as Christmas Trees, at least in Aden.
Not so sure about our world, - there are some compelling arguments by authors like G.A. Van den Bergh van Eysinga, Joseph Turmel, Henri Delafosse and even the likes of Albert Schweitzer that cast doubt on the existence of that guy, but all in all it makes more sense to assume that there indeed was someone for Paul etc. to take as a basis for their soteriological speculations.
Either way, here Christmas or Holiday Trees are both a pretty recent custom (19th century) and an ancient one, predating Christianity. To look upon something green in the depth of winter was always considered neat, kinda like it was always en vogue to bask in the lights of candles, - in the darkness of winter, this time around.
So, I'm fine with Holiday Trees. Omitting "Christmas" is not a slight on Christians, but inclusive.
I thought forum rules are no political, religious or personal discussions.
Anyone can believe whatever they want. Here's the deal. If you want to name holiday trees Christmas trees, make your own game and do it. But we live in a capitalist world. Your opinion doesn't matter. Or mine. You have to accept what you can be given.
And the forum rules are right because this forum is about a game. Noone really wants to know about your beliefs or whatever else people have in their heads.
My opinion is we are all zombies, bombed by the media, believing whatever is being told to, like sheep walking to slaughter. But then hey, what do I know? I'm nobody.
I'm really sick and tired of all this political correctness, as you can see that was not always the case...
Calling Christmas "holidays" is just one little thing among many others ... it's not about celebrating the birth of Christ or whatever, i couldnt care less about all that, it's just about "not offending people" ... well, screw that, to me the end of December is Christmas time and i hope to offend as many people as possible.
EDIT : but i do agree with you Skelton, that our opinion doesnt mean **** in this ****** up world we live in now :(
Decorating a tree in reminiscence of the Christ doing... err... going... err... ok. It's the Festival of the Light, occuring at the Winter Solstice. Thank you very much.

Well, I for one decorate trees in celebration of the change of heart the Grinch underwent when confronted with the fact that people are people and really quite nice.
Attention players.
The servers will undergo a brief downtime in preparation
for the Hanukkah Bush event. Golden Menorahs and
Crystal Draedels will be dropped by all mobs and exchanged
for Geld that you can eat for buffs. One lucky player each
day will receive the Spirit Yarmulka item.
Technically they're yule trees, but they go under many names, so holiday trees will do. They existed before christianity was spread out, but only existed in its more modern sense in the 15th century and onward, coming from germany.
The trees are simply adopted pagan symbols that in some places has been associated with a christian adopted celebration.

You're right. I do remember the time when they were called "Christmas Trees" but like we both said, our opinions mean **** and this is a ****** up world we live in.

And if he sees his shadow we get six more weeks of winter?

i heard someone say that some people don't celebrate Christmas, so do they go out and put up a Christmas Tree (a.k.a. Holiday Tree) or what? And if they do, then why?
Does anyone call that thing that Jewish people put up a couple pieces of holiday wood?
Played an MMO where HELL was censored. Oddly enough HELLO was censored as well :D
I know a game where they even detect the words if there is blanks in the middle of it. Forget "as soon as", "what it says", etc. Unfortunately, to launch a party you have to hit the "ready" button, and the censor filter carefully verifies that you don't use such an horrible word as "button". Result : people are talking l33t 5p34k as they can.

We do it because its part of a celebration that predates your country. (I assume you're american) And its not called christmas and they're not called christmas trees.
Though over the years various elements, including christianity has crept into the celebration.

They were called Christmas Trees Christmas 2005 ;)
We had a PVP and they could not target us at all. Thanks to a spy toon at the entrance we know they were comming and they outnumbered us about 2:1 but we won this flawless. Even did manage to mobkill some since they drew aggro when they entered the Money Room and a nasty Dorf send his Golem to train the room on them ^^
