Making English

I am American and speak only English, but understand some Spanish and German on par with how much I hear it. The new servers are pretty global, which I love, but some of the game phrases seem off to me. I'm a rare American that I stop to think "maybe I'm in the minority with what I think is the standard".

So do you:
Make quests -or- do/complete quests?
Farm (crafting/quest) items/exp -or- Farm items and grind exp?
Tap to town -or- click to town? (death screen)
Soda -or- pop? =p

I do/complete quests, farm items, grind exp, tap to town, and don't drink soda.
It all depends on where your from in America. I am also an American and even here in the USA you will hear many dialects of english , especially in major cities. So i guess my point is that with english and other languages you can easily say something in a variety of ways and still may have used proper grammar. although in some cases like " make a quest" its simply the wrong use of words, unless your actually creating one. This in my opinion should be very understandable to most of us Americans, considering that many here sadly cant even fully master thier 1st language (english) let alone mastering a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, ect like the norm of many other countries.
The problem is right before the latest release, NC Soft laid off the people at NC West in charge of doing things such as making sure the quest language made sense. All the language translations are now being done in Korea, by people who I am sure are using Google translator half the time.
The topic title is just my  at why everything in the game is "make". This is from Brazilians and Eastern Europeans alike. I never realized "to make" was a base conjugation of the the English language. But people on Magmeld seem to make everything. make + any noun = verb.

They (NCsoft) have always been translating wrong. Even in the Chronicle days of class change quests trying to find hidden NPC's and /target wouldn't work because the names in NPC dialog, quest item info, quest log, and actual NPC were all different spellings.
Opps my bad, I thought you wanted them to fix the really badly translated quest dialogs. And yeah, I can remember some really screwed up NPC dialogs back in the chronicle days.

I do/complete quests, farm items, grind exp, tap to town, and don't drink soda.

Do quests, grind items/crafting/xp, click to town, and drink soda.

I would also note that some areas, like the south, drink "Coke." Everything is coke.

"Whatchu wanna drink, bubba?"

"Coke."

"What kind?"

"Got Sprite?"

Worth noting Coca Cola is based out of Atlanta, and there are many instances of a brand name becoming the generic term (Xerox, Kleenex and Google come to mind).

Somehow, I don't think drinking coke is the problem... it is the South afterall... lmao

Here in Mississippi it seems to be all about tea. **** sweet tea everywhere and most of the time it's too sweet.

I miss sweet tea (used to live in Georgia), but since I'm at high risk for diabetes... :(

Darn Asian genes coupled with a traditional American lifestyle? Yeah, its a fight :(
Iced tea is a thing of the south as is the term coke. I'm originally from the south and when I moved to Chicago I found myself drinking Coca Cola a bit too much for my liking... As for my accent/dialect of english it is almost spot on for Houston, my hometown. This accent is kind of close to a midwestern accent. While I was in Chicago most people thought I was from a small town from either IL or IN because the accent is so close to it.

It was amusing. I don't live in Chicago anymore as I moved back down to the south but there was a culture shock for sure.

So to answer the question:
I do quests and farm/grind exp.
When I die I port to town unless I'm fixing to res myself with an SE.
I drink coke, usually root beer.

:D
I from switzerland and I am aware that my english sucks.
anyway for me farm/exping/grind.. all have the same meaning, so I won't use 2 of them in one phrase. also you can't farm items, as they are dropped by luck. what I farm is adena or exp.
tap to town I hear for the first time. either I click on to town after death or I soe/go to town/return/pr..

Sprite is (http://www.thecoca-colacompany.com/brands/product_list_s.html) a Coca-Cola brand.

Sadly your English is much better than most naturally English speakers in the game, sometimes I have no clue what my kids are saying, let alone what some kid from LA is saying, yet most Euro's speak English that's understandable to just about everyone

Not in Lineage. Most Europeans there can't type their own language properly, let alone English, and don't even think about a language other than English. -_-

In Finland Swedish is forced down our throats early at school, and being fluent in English is more or less MANDATORY in real-life Europe. Especially if you study at a university, or work with people.

It happens just so that I study linguistics at the university and work as a bartender in the meantime, so I've made an effort and have taught myself some average Spanish (with the help of friends from Spain as well).

In real life I can communicate with almost everyone I may have to. In Lineage I can't even say 'hi' without wondering if the person I'm talking to can understand me at all. And those people who actually speak English use some weird spelling like 'i g2g c u l8r' that I have to decipher and it's really annoying.

Honestly, at times Lineage 2 feels like a single player RPG game with lag and poor AI. D: And worst of all, it's the player base, not the game itself, that makes it that bad. ):

Ah, and on topic:

'quest' means 'search', 'seeking'. Or in terms of roleplaying games, 'task'. You don't make tasks, you complete them.

Farming... I kind of prefer 'hunting'. You hunt and train for experience, and the adena is... well, the bounty for those trophies you collect... right? u.u

Now, 'tap to town' I have never heard of. Speaking of that "death screen", there's the 'To Village' button, right? Well, you don't tap buttons, you click or hit them D:

Now, I realise my English could sound quite weird to you, but at least that's how I explain things to myself...
You people make everything sound much worse than it is. European speak descent English I would say, even some BRs who are complete uneducated in English language understand a few things.

Farm/Grind/Make/Do/Complete , no one really cares we're not being followed.
We're here to play, not judge each others language and grammar.
Heck, Americans shouldn't even judge others for their English since you have bastardized the language in so many ways. I'm not complaining, frankly enough I don't care.

As for the "Weird spelling" like "g2g, brb, afk, l8r" you must be joking there dude. This shortcuts has been out there since mirc was created or even before that. So please stop trying to be perfect and return back on earth. We live in ground.

Ppl go no time to waste bro. C U <3
Click to village.
So you prefer typing illiterately just to save 0.05 seconds hitting two more keys? I fail to comprehend -_-
