i agree, gold spamming is a major issue that needs to be dealt with, but IP banning will not solve anything. There are so many ways to change/mask your IP that it might make it a little more inconvenient for gold spammers to spew their garbage chat, but it will not permanently stop them.
I agree... and I just just something in game I never saw before. In Goddard on my server, there is a private store with the gold selling site and the price right in the title. Insane.
The sad truth of this all is... anything NC does to thwart gold sellers spamming in game, gold sellers would work around. It'd require countries to work together to make this become less of a problem, but given the sellers come from China, that's not going to happen anytime soon.

I hardly believe any gold seller can buy a new one PC just to log in and shout their commercial. But that needs descent GM "staff" and knowing they didn't do well even when they were paid for it, hoping they would do some for "free" is pointless...
I don't see the Gold spamers an problem. the problem is people who buy from them if noone bought their gold they wouldn't be here right ? no profit not point in staying. what NCsort should do is find the people who buy the gold and ban them so noone buys from them anymore meaning they will leave. That's not a solution.
I already mentioned the only solution to this problem in another thread and I will repeat myself.
Only characters level 40+ with 2nd class change quest can use global chats.
Noone really needs global chats in those levels. And no, pms will not work as good as global chats.
And the other solution is, have active GM staff in game so they can do the job. Heck, I would honestly do it for free if they gave me the power to protect the servers from bots and gold sellers.
Gold spammers will always exist even WoW cant stop them, to me I have already taken it as part of the game and when I read through shout I simply automatically ignore it already, its not like you get that kind of shout everywhere when you are in Primeval Island or something.
If you go to a town market you will always get the unusual seller shouting out **** you just ignore it.
Edit: Another thing is it would require a lot of resources to even start denting and make it really hard for farmers to not spam and even then it wouldnt solve it completely I would rather they mildly patrol actual players that actually buy adena ( and Bot! ) and ban them once in a while to deter rampant buying than lots of resources in trying to stop something that cannot be stopped.
Stopping gold spammers within an MMO world would be like saying we can stop ppl illegally downloading music it just cant be done, only solution to gold seller is close the game but then everyone is ****** :P
Either way, it takes all of 2 seconds for a GM to teleport to Gludio and see that PlayerX is selling gold. Type in /ban PlayerX. Then tele to Giran.
If you don't have 5 minutes a day to do this then your staff has severe problems with their work ethics. I for one love my job and would take 5 minutes off my break if it meant cleaning up some trash players.
PS: This post is as useless as every other post directed to NC. Nothing will change. Botting and Gold selling killed Lineage 1 and the same thing will happen in Lineage 2. Oh wait it already did, lol. That is why they went free2play.

Hardware ban is about as useless as an IP ban. Easily gotten around, all without buying a piece of hardware, let along a new PC as you're suggesting. The reason it's used by things like Punkbuster is because it solves the issue when you're dealing with idiots that don't know any better. If you think this will deter gold sellers, I believe you're greatly mistaken.

Just saying that those two solutions proposed in this thread, IP Ban and Hardware ID ban, don't work.

Yes, if an idiot walks by and sees it, they may read it and say "oh, I guess I can't enter." However, anyone with the mind to exploit your weak attempts at securing your house is going to go around the tape.
Goldspamers today are nothing compare to what we had on L2 gold days!I was disturbed much more from oly manager npc shouts than them in the past.
What it annoys me and gms should check are the people that bot to 99,some of them allready 90+,they will take the first heroes again,win all battles and here we go again.

As far as the actual gold spammers go, ignore it? It's not hard to not read something. It's not any different than how you ignore the mass of people trying to sell useless overpriced weapons and armor since the release of GoD. ;) And when they get to the point where they log names of characters in towns and start whispering, then block em. Gold spamming was a lot worse in the past.

You probably don't have a life (or a brain?) and no friends, hobbies or something to do with your time, but some people don't want to block EVERY SINGLE spammer on every character they have every time they see it.
Anyway, I doubt they will do something about this, in fact, it wouldn't be weird if some of the spammers were actualy employees from ncsoft or something like that ;)

If they all set up shops it would be so bad. Hell it's impossible to chat ATM. If I had to buy gold (don't see why you would in this game anymore) it wouldn't be from one of these spammers.
Here is the thing that really ticks me off. These gold spammers are using 3rd party software to simulate what they are saying, no one is sitting there and spamming that **** every 3 secs for days on end. With this being the fact, if one of us players uses a **** keyboard with a macro in it we get permabanned. Its never happened to me, but peeps I know of have had that happen. So Yeah i am way ****** that the upper authorities are allowing this to happen, its such a smack in the face to us long time players. To me if you are running a program out in the wild to help get adena and xp, or using a program to entice peeps to buy adena, its still a **** bot program. Maybe L2 is now getting a cut of the preverbial adena sales outside game?
