In the history of Lineage II, Bartz has always been a popular and famous server name. In NCsoft West's history, it was one of the most ambitious servers, making first-ever achievements in difficult raids and castle sieges. In honor of the legend of Bartz, our fifth server in Lineage II Goddess of Destruction take the same name! :)

So old players come back and see the Bartz server, try to login, and think "where did all of my characters go!?!" when in reality, Bartz is Chronos... Yeah, somebody didn't think this through at all.

I agree. Chances are they have information/royalties coming from Innova plus their own information. I would imagine they know far better how many players are from where, playing from where, than we can anecdotally piece together on the forums. Plus, as its been suggested before, they might not have the right to make any more EU servers because of Innova (yay business deals, contracts, and obligations). Not that they'll share with us what those specifics are, or if there are any conditions where they can make more EU servers.
And, of course, I'm totally for L2's South American population booming ^_^
edit: North, Central and South America, for that matter. Why, there could be whole LEGIONS of Canadians starting to play but I'd never know it.
Cause there are 3 US time servers that are full. Naia is only full for an hour or two a day at peak hours.
naia is full ... all time.. 14:00/1:00 is full... in this time... with class... and work.. -.- and i always can enter in magmeld or other.. never say the message "due high traffic"

I think there are less europeans than people think, many more spanish speaking people for instance are from South america than Spain. And there are A LOT of them.
Recruiting for a spanish speaking clan, 90% of the people you get answers from are fom South America, the rest are from Spain.

Reusing the server name with a history doesn't seem right, but I guess it will be easier for all those private server players to join the server they have "already played" on :rolleyes:

i think i have to right to ask a new server with eu time zone, since i paid for years and now i get a message: "Due to high server traffic, your login attemp has failed. Please try again soon." .... and is not 1 time ... it is not 2 times ... it is not 3 times ... was happen for hours and for days ... i wasn't able to login :|

plus there it's the premium acc which offers 200% xp/sp able to make to 300% ur vitality with 10(potions herbs or whatever they sell) instead of 5 items that are for non PA user and extra kamaloca...
many as me searching for a server free to choose pay or not..and not actually to be forced to pay for just play a game..i won't really see a guy like danieldefo with paycard items to **** wholes pt just bc he pay...that game doesn't have much balance and those sheets increase it to the worse!!
We'll see if it helps "depopulating" the other servers, especially Naia as it seems to undergo a lot of issues... then if it doesn't help better server performance and more mobs on exp spots would be enough.

Maybe they are seeing a lot more revenue coming from dollars and not euros. If that's the case then it makes sense for them to open another US server; so as to keep those that are paying the bills happy.
Why is that so hard to understand ? Innova has not the right to open EU TIMED ZONE SERVER, they have the right to open servers in EUROPE, NCwest can still open EU timed zone servers. Plus, Russia is not europe, dude, Innova is Russian, not European. It's like saying Canada is in the USA...
Innova sucks: almost 40% of the game is accessible only for those who pay for a premium account (monthly fee). They got connected BEFORE the non PA, they have the right to 2box while the other don't, and they get a *****ing great boost exp constantly (PA + vit + mentor buff + box bought in the shop)
That's not truly-free game ! Noone want to play on this ****, seriously...
Imho dont count with many people leaving Naia, the ones that started there did so because of server timezone settings. Only new EU times server would help to Naia issues with totally full sevrers in prime time imho, where tons of people cant log in to play at all.
This server was necessary, let's hope from now the servers won't be so much time totally full and won't be so many server crash.
I guess the number of servers for a time will enough, but I guess if you plan to make still in this month or in the next an EU timezone server it will also crowded and popular.
Having a server physically in Europe is something different than having a server in US but with Euro time zone. Innova is aR ussian company that hosts the servers in EU (in Germany I guess, not sure about that) all NC Soft West servers are in Dallas, Texas. If there would be a problem with EU time zone servers because of the Innova deal, Naia should actually not be running anymore since Innova server started.
But it really depends, I guess, on how the game's popularity develops. NC Soft should know how many people are actually logging in from EU (on Magmeld, e.g., one has the feeling 90% are from Brasil or somweher else in SA, but that may just be because these guys tend to talk more than the EU/NA players), and how much they buy in the Lineage 2 shop. If its profitable, they may make another EU time zone server in the future, if not, then not, in my opinion it is as simple as that.
Magmeld has yet to even ever hit 6k online (cap), while the other servers hit is constantly. People are not looking for new servers right now when they're already perfectly comfortable with where they're at. That said, I feel Bartz is gonna be pretty ghost town in comparison.
They should've opened an EU server. But I don't think they actually legally CAN now.
And after few months you gonna announce server merges, old same movie :) Better don't be so excited there in NCSoft, you still have multiple issues to fix and instead focus on the problems you open new server.
Server timezone is CST (Dallas, Texas, USA). This is the same server timezone as the Chronos, Shilen, and Magmeld servers.

And please, PLEASE, do not start about lame ISPs etc, one of the best ISP in the whole world and we can't play a normal game, srsly?). Naia is so overcrowded that each evening it's kinda impossible to log in and if u do, u counter lots of problems like NPC laggs (which sometimes comes up to 30sec+ delay) or else, you just cannot log in cuz of high traffic. Remember the sieges? Server didn't handle it, that's just sweet.
Could someone from the staff, please answer the **** questions, what's goin on, becouse we do NOT know what to do, keep waiting, quit or keep being annoyed in US servers? Any European ones (located in Europe) are going to come soon? Or it's just impossible? We just need **** answers, is that so hard :)

honestly, I dont have clue what was NCsoft thinking when signing contract with innova. Most of us - non russian europian players, do not want to play at any russian server. Reason? Experience with russian servers and community. Just go and log at any russian server... AZBUKA everywhere... bots and exploits everywhere because if russians are good in something than its "how to mess with system". Thanx but no thanx.

I discussed with a GM throuh pm on forum. He told me they can NOT open servers LOCATED in Europe. On the question "What about opening a server located in US with EU timezone?" the answer was more or less "We will decide about this in future."
Do you see any "we can't" in his answer? I don't.
MAYBE they want to see how many EU players will stay on NCWest even after Innova launch and then they will decide. They want to avoid another server merge.

I strongly disagree, they should not open up server transfers, those players who do not want to restart from the beginning well they should stay on the server that they are on. If every single person started to transfer then it would defeat the purpose of opening new servers for those who are having difficulty playing due to over population.
My only thoughts on those who would not want to start over is they must have been able to play their character despite the over crowding. So they do not want to restart because they have spent extensive time building their character up. Well then why would you want to leave your server anyway, most who will leave will be those that are still lower lvl.
Read the f-in announcement: NCWest keeps the NA service and retains existing European customers, Innova gets the Euro service. It can't be any clearer.

My biggest dream ever since I started playing L2 is to be a part of a clan that owns a castle (don't even care if its a wee little one like Heine, or Gludio) and I am sure the castles in magmeld are all taken already U_U
i feel cheated in some way...and how confusing is this for people now and in the future returning who used to play on bartz? lol
players in this game are very proud of their past heritage on certain servers, merging servers into a new name then resurrecting an old name on a new server is kinda a kick in the sack.
why not just put a poll up with server names and let the community decide? have some community interaction...yes i know, nothing can be done and im just stating my opinion: that it is kinda lame theyre using recycled names. the next server will be named kain, and itll be for the euros lol

Lineage2.COM is now the North American provider for this game. They chose to give us a game that is free. Innova is now the European provider for the game.
Nobody is forcing you to play on the NA servers. You have the choice. You either deal with playing on Naia (IF you can log in), or deal with CST time zones, and servers located in North America.
If you want your sieges in your time zones and servers in your country/region for a decent ping, you have to go to where your service is provided.
You don't see anyone from the US wanting to go to another countries service, and demand it be tailored to us, do you? (I know there is no service like that that I can compare to, or at least I cannot think of one, but the point is still valid.)
no, not really mr angry bold text man, but alot of old players from bartz hold that name dearly...bartz has been my home since beta, itd be the same for anyone from kain or the other original server names. its not a big deal to anyone else who has just started playing the game or people from private servers, but to us old timers its kind of a stab at our player base.
The thing is...the game has around 20 hardcoded server names so they could pass only server ID in the server packets instead of full name which would mean extra traffic and it's generally bad idea to throw strings around. And since Innova opened their servers i believe NCSoft gave them ID range lets say from 10 to 20 so NCSoft have to use from 0 to 10 and we already saw 7 names :D (if not more)
PS: I can't be certain about the number of hardcoded server names i don't remember well anymore. The thing is ... NCWest doesn't patch things on the client except if there is no some major bug. They patch the server mostly
I did play long time in Teon, and I will feeling very sad if the new serve bring the name Teon. Becouse the severs has a history, and make new ones with the same name is not cool.

Some of us forged the greatest memories and friendships on our old Bartz, and to reuse that name is a poor choice out of all the server names you could have come up with.
But gratz on the new server may the new players find as much on the new Bartz as we had on the old.

Yeah a VERY bad idea. All the people coming back to game see that server and automatically go back there looking for old friends. I nominate the new server be named Chronos and the merged server be renamed Bartz. That way its at least 1/7 correct.
well every effort that NC makes to make this game even better is good, more servers more people. The name does not matter, the important thing is that the old days are coming again!!!

Hello everyone. I want to share some things with all of you(also administration). So you guys lounched the third NEW server in few weeks, but you worried about magmeld server populaton. A short explaination(things) why shilen have the most players:
1. Fresh start with GOD updates.
2. Magmeld started after Shilen(so no doubt to move from shilen to magmeld).
3. Shilen have 80% Europeans. (doesnt matter, magmeld also lounched in same time zone..:D)
And you lounched 3rd NA time zone server.. So you really believe that people from shilen and magmeld move to ANOTHER server with SAME TIME ZONE, then server have some weeks start delay?? Sorry, but think that retail administration must be smarter and take into consideration their devotees players from all over the world.
One fact: Then eoropeans sleeping, Shilen and other server are not full.
And please dont reply information about innova they doesnt have such a long expierence with lineage2. So most players are not intrested.

If you want to speak with other people you'll have to get used to that kind of things. Here on South America we have to take exactly the same offensive messages not only from Europe but also from USA, so just learn to deal with that kind of messages, it just happens.

The ping isn't a problem at all... I use Leatrix Latency Fix, wich the support team of NCwest has recommended to me, and it works, I don't have lags anymore ! I even sent them the results of my tests by billets and they thanked me.
The thing we don't want, as european player, is the system Innova provide. We don't care about lags, which are easily fixed with LLF, we care about the premium account system of Innova, wich sucks very much. Take a look at this thread (http://boards.lineage2.com/showthread.php?t=224145).
lol has nothing to do with being picky. if the server name was something brand new and i was like no this new name is stupid. then sure, chalk this post up to being one of the other 90% useless, poorly typed and misinformed posts on here.
like i said its obvious foreigners and new players dont care. if i was, i wouldnt care either. the people who've actually supported this game in the past, they understand.

yea i think the whole world is going through tough times economically, maybe thats why ncsoft decided to go f2p? ya never know. but i apologize directing my comment towards americans in general, its just that ive heard a few other americans in clan chat bashin on europeans for no apparent reason basically making themselves feel better for their own ignorance i guess.
We have our memories of what the REAL Bartz was, just like we have the memories of what Lineage 2 was in the beginning when PKing was the way it should be. We have the bonds we created with friends and clannies.
All the new players will never have a clue and will never get to experience what we had back in the days.
I say we have to not worry ab EU servers. Aion is going on l2 path free to play in february and half of EUs will go there. So we have just to w8 that moment :)
Bartz was always full of noobs anyways. It was just a bunch of beta babies who joined the first server on the list. Maybe this time there will be some skill on the server, though, without me there, I can't say for sure.

Why would a person who has played the game for years, first come to the forums to find out how to play. They will log in, say, oh that's my server right there. Click on it then wonder where all their friends have gone. I guess eventually they probably will figure it out, if they don't quit once they assume all their friends have quit the game.
It's just a name, geez guys. I wouldn't care if they used my old server name. Have fun on the server you're on now & let others have fun on theirs. It's just a game :P
If they didn't name the new server Bartz we would be reading about how they should have. NCSoft can't win with all the emotional players out there. No matter what is done there will always be a post complaining they should have done the other.

I strongly disagree, they should not open up server transfers, those players who do not want to restart from the beginning well they should stay on the server that they are on. If every single person started to transfer then it would defeat the purpose of opening new servers for those who are having difficulty playing due to over population.
My only thoughts on those who would not want to start over is they must have been able to play their character despite the over crowding. So they do not want to restart because they have spent extensive time building their character up. Well then why would you want to leave your server anyway, most who will leave will be those that are still lower lvl.
I agree. They revamped all the lv 60 spots to 80+ and removed catacombs. If you are not ahead of the curve (80 on Shilen, 76 on Magmeld), it's two players per mob spawn and every melee crammed into TOI because ranged classes KS every mob in the fields. I spent a weekend trying to level my sws 40-60, I did that in a day on my first character.
Server timezone is CST (Dallas, Texas, USA). This is the same server timezone as the Chronos, Shilen, and Magmeld servers.

Beyond that, these will be totally new servers, new hardware, new database, etc., and if we named the new server Teon, Phoenix, or any exiting name, we would have two servers with that name and you'll have to trust us, that simply doesn't work, even if one of them is no longer running.
Trust me. We can't have two servers with the same name, even if one is no longer operating. Remember, we have lots of systems running behind the scenes for billing, and logs, etc. Only one server can ever be named Phoenix. There can never be another Phoenix, or Aria, or Luna, or Teon. So, the following names are not allowed:
I grew up on Bartz, the original Bartz. I've got some fond screenshots of that server. In 2010, much to my chagrin, a massive server merge was announced. But when the servers merged, you told everyone that a new name HAD to be chosen because the name "Bartz" couldn't be used again.
And now, there's a new server called "Bartz" and you say you're naming it "Bartz" to recognize its legacy. I feel like I've been punched in the ovaries.
If you couldn't tell, I'm just a weee bit upset. And even if server transfers were eventually allowed to Bartz, this transfer system sucks.
Good luck explaining this to the original Bartz players who haven't returned yet.
Just because it's a US time server doesn't mean it's un-playable. Look, half of you EU's are on during our hours anyway. And it's not like you'll get more lag from a US server as all the servers are located in Dallas Texas.

Correction, 75% were Euro BEFORE the servers went Free to Play. Now most of them are Brazilian from SA which is still on a US time zone.

Indeed, many of us were surprised when it was decided that the new server be named Bartz. Apparently we are the first territory to do this. Wonders never cease. :)
Regarding the opening of Bartz, the Olympiad does actually open today, and the first Heroes will be in January, if there are any. Also, although the first Castle Sieges will be announced at a later date but for now we have set it to December 2012 to push it far back until we finalize a start date. Just wanted to let you know it is intentional in case anyone sees that and is confused.

Yeah why would some company want to make money??? There are alot of F2P'ers that want everything and don't want to pay a penny for it. They should be seriously doing whatever it takes to make these players happy, no matter the cost.
L2 is 8+ years old, and is in it's last throws before dying. NC West has had to lay off a bunch of people because they aren't making much money anymore, but why oh why should they do something that might give them some financial gain???

I think there are less europeans than people think, many more spanish speaking people for instance are from South america than Spain. And there are A LOT of them.
Recruiting for a spanish speaking clan, 90% of the people you get answers from are fom South America, the rest are from Spain.
Maybe just saying talking out my ***, but why not a Spanish server lol

When NA servers merged into Chronos, they can't call new server Bartz, Phoenix etc.
Since the old servers database was deleted, why not? You don't need to waste a lot of time for thinking about name, make forum polls etc.

1- All the servers are 1x xp/drop/adena/spoil ? Or have difference between servers in 1x, 3x, 7x...?
2- Can i open more than 1 Lineage in stance? Because i don't have friends yet, and i need a buffer or healer to play, i can't open more than 1 game in same time? if i can, how can i do it?
3- Why dont have weapons and armor common in server?

1- All servers have same rates. x1.
2- You can, after you start one client, close your Launcher, start it again and start another Lineage 2.
3- There some rules on this server, we play by them.
