So recently people have started to set up fake stores.
What i mean by this is, it looks like a "Buy" store, but it is actually a sell store.
It looks just like a Buy store, if you open it, and dont have the item, its "greyed", if you have the item it looks normal.
BUT. If you try to "Sell" it, you will actually BUY the item from the "Buy" store, meaning you will not only lose 4kk and then ANOTHER 10kk.
Anyway, in Aden, there were people "buying" "Red Gem" for 10kk, and 2 shops selling Red gems for 4kk, obviously it is the exploiters characters.
I "fell" for it (who doesnt?).. lost all my adena, ******* awesome.
Was in Magmeld BTW.
So what have we learned?
Dont ever buy stuff from player made store.
I only lost 4kk but WTH it was all my adena, luckily i didnt have 10kk otherwise id lose 14..
Any way to get it back?
I mean, obviously they cheated the game, and i deserve my money back..

You won't get that money back. You could have been more observant and noticed it wasn't the type of shop you thought it was. Doing that kinda thing is not a bannable or whatever thing. You won't get your money back, they won't get into trouble. Don't worry though, there are lots on the server that have lost stuff. Back in the day before the package shop was a seperate button instead of a little check box, I was able to buy a full A grade set minus the helm for like 4 adena. Back when like A grade was top. Man that was years ago.... But yah... imagine how sad that guy was. My GF traded her own toon, turns out it wasn't and it went to some other random person and she lost MY moirai leather set she was using. So yah stuff like that happens to almost everyone. Now atleast you'll be better prepared and I'm sure you won't make the mistake again.

NCsoft should make it so that if you setup a shop of any kind, you cannot be merging with another shop. People shopping around could still run through you, but no one would be able to setup a shop right on top of another character, which would result in scams like this not working.
I can confirm this to be true personaly as I am standing next to the players which are shown in the screenshot (Yandere the dwarf, CidHighwind the orc). I even made screenshots my self to open this topic but I'm glad it's open already.
I was lucky not to have the required 15mil for the "red stone" she was "buying" otherwise I would have fallen for this scam as well right now.
It looks like its a Buy shop (yellow)... but they really Sell (yellow not purple)???? How is that posible... how is the color of the shop changed?

But this is different, that IS a buy shop, is yellow and all, i don't understand how is it possible that he is selling with a buy shop.

Is it possible to target the legit buy shop? I'd like to see the tables turned on Yandere. This is the second incident reported since last night when she was in Oren.
Problem is, there is actually no one underneath her.
As seen in the screenshot, it says "Buy store" in the "store window".
Im hoping this does get fixed, people could possibly make fake sale stores i guess, imagine someone "selling" threads and suedes for 100 adena, but really BUYING yours for that price.
I thought this was to be about bots setting up "stores" whose signs are actually being misused for displaying a gold-seller ad.
I'm not sure I understand what the op writes here actually about, though...you can go to a sell, but end up with your own items bought, instead somehow?
hes trying to say that there are 2 shops 1 buy 1 sell not far from each other
the sell shop (CidHighwind) is selling red gemstones for 3.9kk and not far from him is buy shop (Yandere) that buys them for 10kk
so he buys the gemstone from CidHigwind for 3.9kk and trys to sell to Yandere for 10kk but cant cuz its saying not enough adena
this is actualy a bug in buy shop that is in game for years now and some people figured out how it works and started to exploit this bug buy luring people to buy junk for high prices from their sell shops while the buy shop next to it is bugged with not enough adena so they cant sell it to that char
to put it simply its 1 way you can get scammed out of your adena and i still wonder why the hell NC still didnt fix this **** bug
Just be carefull... I see them everyday as a dwarf, when I go out to buy Acrys. It's an old trick, since the beginning of L2. Selling D gemstone as SoP or selling soul ore as Acry. It's a well known trick. Next time be carefull when trading with such a 'high' amount of adena.

we are talking about a completely different scam that involves a bug
I am all up for people making simple mistakes and getting scammed, but this is just simple bug exploiting and fully deserves ban. I don't care how they did it but I just want them to get banned for abusing it.
She's in Oren now, trying to buy some... Ifernal Ore (spelling is wrong, i know), for 10mil... Someone nearby is selling them for 2.5mil... so for those looking for quick profit... DON'T DO IT!

There are no rules against scamming so you will not get your money back. This is a very old bug in the system that was never fixed; you have to know how to use it to get it to work correctly.
Either way your adena is gone, and you are not the first to get tricked by this. :)

There are no rules against scamming so you will not get your money back. This is a very old bug in the system that was never fixed; you have to know how to use it to get it to work correctly.

Won't do any good, this bug has been reported countless times as it's been in the game for as long as I can remember.
If they have not fixed it by now then I do not see them ever doing it.

I wonder if people also complained about KS/PK system back then, because you could hardly kill a mob without someone having a go at it too, I was too busy grinding my toon off, no time for official boards :D
It is obvious to this private server player that he has no idea how things work here in official Lineage II.
As for reporting bots, don't bother as NCsoft (and I can spell it correctly) no longer has the staff to police the game anymore. Plus it is F2P so banning bots is useless as they will just make another Master Account and start again.
I think the best posts here in the forums are the people who emorage about a fantasy gaming world; makes for some good laughs. :)

This is not real life; if they didn't ban people for scamming when NCsoft had the manpower to police the servers, what makes you think they would now?
More clearly: It's never been policy to ban/punish scamming; it's a server rule that YOU are responsible for your in game spending. The GMs in this game are like god: they never interfere in the world affairs unless it's a game mechanic problem/bug; and even those are left to deal with during maintenance.
Quest bugged? Wait for maintenance tough SOMETIMES they do award you the prizes if waiting is not reasonable (like the old class change quests) but not if it's a quest of the "kill mobs and accumulate unlimited items to cash in" since with those, you CAN wait.
Player PKing you? Scamming you? If he's not actively harassing you through PM/blatant open griefing; then tough luck, move from the spot or PK him back or get your clannies to harass him back.
GMs never interfere in server politics either, even tough they have been accused of playing favorites with some clans in the past (wich of course, could never been proved).
I remember some type of scam that was used some looooong time ago, where you see someone selling something (could be anything) for high price, and then another one nearby coincidentally buying for even higher price than seller. So you buy huge amount of overpriced items just to sell it to buyer, but the second you confirm buyer logs out and you're left with long nose.
Other involves selling 15 pieces of Thread 240k adena each when it's supposed to be vice-versa or just using similar icons. Or crafter changing craft shop prices on the fly (but this one is no longer possible). This is kinda new to me, never seen this before.
idk how exactly does it work but the principle is simple - put a DC with a gate chant at the place of a shop, then gate chant 2 toons, one of them creates buy store and the other sell store.
for this to work you have to figure how to name the toons and they should have identical models.

lol, why is it that people always blame some1 else for their own failure. Don't blame that guy cause he capitalized on your inability to be observant, buy store, sell store, says buy/sell right on it.
and no I don't set up shops like that, but since closed beta I have never fallin for this stuff look at the store and look at the item your buying READ the discription don't hastily grab first thing you see or click n buy from first store you see, look around compare prices.#1 don't be a fool because "A FOOL AND HIS MONEY ARE SOON PARTED"
Although scuming players is not punished, using exploits is. The player who set up a BUY shop without having enough adena in his inventory (or managed to discard them leter) is using a game exploit and needs to be punished. If the bug is old (personally never saw it being reported before) the major blame is on NC developers.
I love how on retail you get 0 help from GM's, yet on a private server they'd be banned and your adena returned.
It's a losing battle my friend. These things have been going on since day 1 and most people that have been here that long well know the politics of banning n such. I still remember years ago how a banned player for botting happened to belong to one of the top clans on a given server.The entire clan put up shops threatening to quit if NCSoft didn't reinstate him in Aden. Reinstatement happened the very next day but of course it had nothing to do with the threat. I've been back after a year and a half and I still see the same old cheaters doing their thing LoL. It's not about policy or justice - It's about the money, plain and simple.
Just play the game with friends and have fun, watch your back and double check your stores before you buy - that's what I do. The higher end people will fight amongst themselves, sometimes getting bored enough to grief lower peeps. But tis is life (Or rather it is for some). Take it with a grain of salt and make sure you get plenty of fresh air. :)

Its to bad really but even if the other account gets banned ( which it probably will ) its not the one that has the money, the one that actually has the money is the one selling.

Sounds unlikely, I will believe it when I actually try it, I am saying this cause it would fairly hard to do this, since the server doesnt send the details on colour and denomination of the shop it sends a type things like "Buy" and "Store(BUY)" and even the mechanics are on your client not on the server it would be hard, not impossible so I would like to see it on myself.

Sorry if you didnt notice my sarcasm ofc it was a scam there is no easy money no matter how you look at it, when I get into this sort of situation where I am making money for nothing I check and double check and if its not in my mind not a scam beyond resonable doubt ( in this case you cant prove its not a scam unless you already have the item to try and sell ) then I wont go ahead, and this applies to real life aswell.
I bet the OP probably clicks on links saying "Secret to become young that doctors dont want you to know, just pay 40 quid". It looks like a cat, it walks like a cat it probably is one. This scam works cause it really plays on ppl greed and getting something for nothing.

Bah... the OP edited his post. Originally he implied that he lost the 10m and bought a red crystal. Now he's saying that luckily he didn't have the 10m to lose. This is an old scam.
Then just let NCsoft make the game pay to play again - and those new botters and players from private servers will go away - i like that idea more! Everywhere there will be someone who is hacking/cheating/botting, i.e. playing unfair.

This scam has existed since C1 (at least) and I've never seen/heard of someone being banned for it.
the only day i´d not read the forum was yestarday(the day u posted it) and that day i fell i that scam in Oren town at magmeld buying 1 stolen ifernum ore(i knew she was buyng just 1) at 2.5kk and the when i tryed to sell it comes out the same mesage. As u i know its a bug cuz when i try to put a buying storage(yellow) and the thing im going to buy r more expencive than the money i have i cannot settle it. and I know the selling shop wasnt doing anything wrong but both r in the same bug-using scam. Also its obvious i wont get my money back, and IF in sooooooooome other dimencion NC Soft realises that it would be a miracle, nothing to do my friend, i see u lost more than me :( we can do a group secion so we can talk about it and haev no traumas with buying/selling sotres :o

2.the greedier they get,the more the auction charges them
3.auction = offline shop for everyone and those characters wont take up server space
4.YOU CANT GET SCAMMED IN AUCTION.
5.the prices are awesome in auction and everyone can afford them

7.you can always check prices for things you want to sell,so if u want to sell it,go cheaper than the next.
need i say more? NcSoft does know about these exploiting scammers,which is why they made the auction system. if everyone starts buying from auction and leave those scammers alone,i bet everything will become easier for everyone...

In the end, the lesson is to only buy stuff from a store that got under-priced item(s) (like missing a few 0s), rather than trying to buy extremely overpriced item(s).
Since i was tricked like this tons of times, i will give you a quick and good tip:
If you see someone selling cheap - and someone buying expensive - what is the point for them to lose adena? When you see something like this beware!

There is no bug here, only a mistranslated error message. Character A sells items for 4kk character B buys it for 10kk. Only thing is character B never had 10kk to begin with. The message window actually should say, "Character-B does not have enough adenas." instead of "You do not have enough adenas".
Only way to get around it would be to 'separate' the amount of money you are setting up buy store for, and not let you allow any way to get rid of the adenas as long as the buy-shop is running.
I don't know if you can set up buy-store without enough adenas on you since i never tried scamming anyone myself but i can imagine at least two ways to lose adenas after setting up buy-store.
