Afraid to say its going to be more productive for you to goto Valley of Saints, then Forest of the Dead, and grind those places solo with your main nuke until you have lvl76, then try and get into parties for high xp.
Sometimes mp will be a problem when youre unlucky, but raise a kookaburra with you :)
hi guys Decided to put this post because of the ugliest thing in the game When you play with SpellSinger And go to farming your mp will Concludes in 1 min We wizards words, simple message to ncsoft cant farmming no one want us in TOI Because we do not have any interest in the party just seconds and concludes mp ok, I have tried to use the skills of continued damage, such as:http://lineage.pmfun.com/data/img/skill1237_0.pnghttp://lineage.pmfun.com/data/img/skill1236_0.png but this Always fail: http://lineage.pmfun.com/data/img/skill1183_0.png ok after use this I had a very simple interest in the party But only with mobs with High HP Today when I went to the 8th Floor (TOI) The success rate of the skills of the damage constant of about 00.00001% what can i do to farming ok i tried farming in valley of saint and there mp Do not disappear quickly Ugly thing that class such as warcryer may live to 85 and I am still 70 sorry for my English :(
1. Damage over time nukes are pretty useless, stick with hydro blast and surrender to water (only if the mob has very high hp, like more than 4 or 5 nukes worth).
2. Spellsingers are already known to have the worse mana management in the game, it's compensated for by their fast casting speed in PvP.
3. Get yourself a 2nd account and level an Shillien Elder or Elven Elder to recharge yourself, or get the pet that can cast recharge.
4. Hunt in places that drop herbs, or you are screwed. Use your Mana Regeneration buff, use /walk instead of /run. The ability to quickly burn mana is nothing new and absolutely the intended idea of nuker classes, you must learn to work around these restrictions just like every other nuker has for the last 7 years.
I leveled my Spellsinger almost entirely solo up to level 79 with only newbie buffs and almost never ran out of mana. Only those unlucky times of going 10 minutes without a mana herb.
There is a skill that reduces mana consumption. Are you using that skill? Do you play with newbie buffs all the time?
You should be able to kill mobs in 2-3 hydro blasts. If the mob takes more than 3 it is too hard. If you can find ones you can do in 2 most of the time they are the best mobs for your lvl. Only hunt mobs that drop herbs. Using surrender to water is a waste of mana unless it makes the difference of 2 hydro blasts vs 3 hydro blasts.
If you say your level and gear I can help you find a good spot to hunt. Although wouldn't it be better to be following the path to awakening?
The reason why http://lineage.pmfun.com/data/img/skill1183_0.png fails often against higher mobs is because it'll reave a 2x hp mob's health easily over its duration.
No it wont, It's pretty bad.
And besides, even if it did do that much damage, that isn't a reason it fails to land. those two things are completely unrelated.
Mana consumption is the mana points each spell/skill required to be casted.
The skill galil is refering to is Clear Mind which enhances MP regeneration while standing or walking.
So when you are grinding it's way more mana efficient to walk rather than run.
You guys are terrible... he is asking how to play his class efficiently. Shouldn't you guys be leveling rather than taking stabs at a new player?
Thanks Onithariel, I forgot the name of clear mind skill. There is also another skill that increases your water element by 20. It is a 10 minute buff, you should be using that too. I haven't played my SPS in about a year now so I forget the skill names but I remember where they are on my shortcut bar LOL. Good point on the walking, you should always be in walking mode so your mana regenerates faster. If you are still having trouble with mana you can level up a kookaburra. When it gets within your level range around 6 or 8 levels it will recharge your mana. If it follows the rule of rechargers within 5 levels it will give you max recharge.
I also opted for a 2 handed mage weapon on my SPS for maximum matk. I did this until S grade when you get Sigil mastery which increases your mp regeneration by 17% when you have a sigil equipped. S grade I switched to Arcana mace and Arcana Sigil with my Major Arcana set.
People need to learn to play this game. Stop trying to make L2 into another game just because "you" started playing it. IF want to play another game then go play that game. Learn to play the character that YOU created in L2. IF you do not like that character, then create a different one. You can do this until you have found the right class for you. If you cannot find the right class for you, then maybe L2 is not the game for you.
Like it has been said, find someone who plays a recharger class, SE or EE. From what I have seen, this should not been problem now.
Use Solar Flare, Hydro Blast and Aura Bolt. And that is about it.
This is the ugly side to rolling a mage in this game. Noone wants you in parties and you run out of mp in minutes.
I rolled a sorc to lv60 playing the game the way it was meant to until I just about had it. Sorc is just a horrible class but I thought that there can't possibly be a bad class in a game so that's why I stuck with it for so long. Then I rolled a necro with an EE dual box and it's going a lot smoothly. The dual box for recharge is just about necessary. In fact, I think 1 recharger isn't even enough...as my dedicated recharger can run out of mp even with constant sitting/invocation. So that's why I'm also training 2 kookaburra for more recharge.
I feel sorry for live recharger because they probably run out of mp recharging just 1 nuker.

This is coming from a SpS.
Did you post in the wrong thread? Were you thinking of another thread when you responded to this thread? I went over the thread 3 times to try and figure out why you posted this response. The first paragraph has nothing to do with what has been discussed in this thread.

Just as a side, you say you are training 2 kookaburra? I assume one for each of your toons? I don't think your EE will be able to be recharged from it if that's your plan.

Unless something has changed recently...
Just tryin' to save you a bit of XP.
Ah, thanks for the advice.
Is that true? If that's the case, I'll focus on training 1 kookaburra first. I'm training the kookaburra on my EE and probably exchange it to my nuker when it evolves.

Which pet is best for an EE then?
I believe the rule is that if a character has the recharge skill, they cannot be recharged.
As for what pet is best, I'll leave that to the pet experts.
Yeah nothing beats a Shillen Elder to duo with. OK Elven Elders too.
Not that I was advertising my own class, but w/e, Shillien Elders in my opinion are the best mage supports <3

I have a kooka on my SE and she gets rechage np ;) but my SE cant recharge another Toon with recharge skill , dunno after awekening.
Anyway , in order for you to get the little chiken to give mp you have to be in combat mode, thats gonna be tricky with your box since it wont be killing just giving you mana.

That's good to know :) Thanks!
I can have my EE fight once in awhile. I noticed EE also has a pretty good nuke and my elf casts fast so can kill pretty fast too lol.
1. Always farm outdoors ( herbs don't drop in caves/towers/dungeons, there are some exceptions ofc.)
2. Get a kokabura to recharge your mp
3. Find an EE or SE to duo with.
TOI is no place for you to farm, bro. You know there are areas good for fighters and areas that are good for nukers
Nuker ones are VoS, FoD for example.
L2 never had mana pots cause it is too noobfriendly. Just learn to do mana managment.
1. Don't go on mobs with resist/high M Def
2. Don't go on mobs higher lvl than you (if you are not fully buffed and supported)
3. Don't use ******ed overtime nukes >.< (just hydroblast and sometimes surrender)
You should have think of it before making a mage. They all consume a lot of MP obviously, so EE/SE are your best friends. Get one, box one, whatever. Kookaburra are good pets as well. There are many ways to get mana. You should also try places where you don't need to hit too many times to kill a mob, because it's not that worth. And try learning some ways to save your mana, it's one of the most important things in the game
If I played a mage I'd find a live recharger to duo in herb spots. Yes, you get lower exp per mob but imo you still exp faster when nuker doesn't have to bother with drops. If you duo with some lazy recharger who doesn't pick up drops, then he/she is not worth sharing exp with cause you can box your own recharger for that or get a pet.

Wasnt the high lvl floors in TOI one of the best spots for nukers, at least the angels floors? I havent visited that place in years but thats how it was back then.

nowadays you can actually run all floors of toi and not get killed from mobs....
It's packed , it's like WoA in the busy hours....
WTB catas and necros back so people can disperse a bit ....

The place is filled with angels groups around 4-7, that hit hard and have a lot of HP and no herbs. But it's a great place to gather archers. With mentor buffs they 3 crit the mobs toi 10+
i was playing with nekro but i changed char to wc and now i m happy.
mp is a big issue in game.
it is not balanced game, some priv servers are more balanced, honest.
SE doesn't need a group in the forest so that's gonna be pretty hard for them to get, however.. I highly suggest boxing an alt as most SE's and EE's who actually play their characters have a disdain for mages that runs pretty deep. It's because of years of giving up drops to greedy people just for the sake of faster xp...being pked by them and having no way to fight back, and for not getting any good groups b/c of said boxed rechargers and healers. We also had to buy 2 sets of gear just to be able to hit like an elpy if we wanted to solo for drops. You're better off making your own because honestly if we're still here, we could care less and only enjoy your suffering and crying at this point.

those mobs were 2 shots for SH but thy have b2m for mp management
So, should we remove Healing Potions aswell, since fighters can always invite a healer to their parties? I'm sorry, but it's pretty much the same thing.

^This.
I've always been a SPS player and I never minded the fact I ran out of mana quickly but in this Chronicle a lot of classes have been improved. E.G.: Mystic Dark Elves now have a passive skill that gives them +10% of Casting Speed. Spellsingers are known for their high Casting Speed but "low" damage, while Spellhowlers for the opposite. But they got a slight buff now, and we Spellsingers got none. Some mages regen mana while hiting mobs, while others can literaly suck mobs' mana. Seems like everyone got a little loving from NCSoft but us, Spellsingers.

I agree, we have healers so L2 should remove healing potions-quick HP potions from the game, because mages don't have MP potions due to recharge. And and finally finish making the most boring MMO on the planet.
EDIT: Thankfully Eternal will be an action MMO, so no need for dual box. I don't want to see this new game ruined with these issues in L2.
There's no mp potions because if there were then SE and EE would have a time getting groups, for obvious reasons.
I agree they should do something about sps though, but most of what they could do would give them an advantage again over SH. I remember being feared on my sps too, but they messed them up so bad I parked her on a shelf and haven't even bothered to play her since. Personally I don't like how slow they made the aoe sleep, that was the MOST fun in territory war and big pvp battles, until they invented waking scrolls >.<
I already said that on another topic: I rerolled my SpS to level a DAGGER and I leveled so much faster. I only stop to restock on hp pots (not that I use them anyway, since we always have SEs on our FIGHTER groups because of stigma) and soulshots.
We got tons of buffs for fighters, specially melees. It's ridiculous how fast you level with Violent Temper, Critical Wound, Stigma and Hex.
As for mages... well, they got nerfed to the ground on every single aspect.
M crits were ********, I do agree with that, but magic evasion was a stupid idea, specially on mobs.
I don't think all mages should be like War Cryers with their non stop draining, but not slow as it is now.
I didn't need to get any pet to solo my way to 81, why should a mage need a kookaburra or anything else? My crits hits as hard as any nuke on this game.
I dunno, I leveled as tail of mages most of my levels. Some mana management tips ...
- Walk, don't run
- Pick mobs that you can 2-hit max 3-hit with spell + one overhit.
- Use skills and items to lower MP consumption or raise MP regen (Clarity, Sigil, MP regen amulet, even 1 point per tick is worth it)
- If you have Body to Mind use it and pick HP herb or get healed, it's more mana effective for recharger than Vamp spells eating 200 MP
- Let your recharger pick mana herbs, they give more to recharger because of higher base MP
- Get Mana Up weapon, or even Conversion for recharger (or you) when picking mana herbs - this should raise base MP and give even more MP from herb
- Raise Kooka, once it's able to recharge it really helps. They regen MP real fast when standing
- Mana gain at 79 or 80 is great skill, throw it on nuker, then on Kooka and when recharger and Kooka starts running out of MP recharge Kooka - it'll be full it in couple of spells, and will give mp again
- Don't forget about elixirs (craft ton of them) and Invocation
- When using Invocation let Kooka recharge first half of MP (because Kooka recharges only if you're below cca 50%) then use Invocation.
