Enchanter skills extremely underwhelming after 85.

Looking at all the higher level skills for the class is disappointing. There is almost no reason to level past 85... Higher level buffs BARELY change them at all. Most of the skills have a mediocre affect for a 10+ minute cd. WTF?

I awakened into an Iss Enchanter on Shilen a few days ago, and I was more than pleased with the new skillset I was given.

While it sucks that the gameplay of the Overlord and Bladedancer are gone for good, I think in time you feel that the new Iss Enchanter's line-up isn't as bad as you think.

In PvE: You are a soloing god. Straight up. You can hit fairly well, you can over-hit reliably, you have skills to reduce the mobs PDEF/MDEF (which lands pretty much all the time) and if things get hairy, your Healing Melody is godlike.

In PvE Group play: You're a necessity. Plain and simple. Your buffs may seem like they aren't a huge deal at first, but they are. Your Harmonies alone will change the tides. Sonatas are basically the S/D replacements and as such are incredibly good in themselves. They also act very well as a back-up healer, but of course no where near as good as an actual healer. You are awesome in mobbing because you also have AoE versions of your -PATK/MATK and -PDEF/MDEF skills. This helps tremendously for when things get out of hand and mobs just start to hurt a little too much.

In PvP: One on one, there is little you cannot take on. While I'm still getting ahold of how it all works, the general PvP 1vs1 play-by-play seems to be something like this:

Attack the enemy. Prioritize your debuff skills to make it much easier on yourself (keeping in mind they're -40% for PVP). Nine times out of ten, you will die before they do. Fear not, you are the troll class, and here is why...

To put it simply, when things start going sour for you, you can just use Transform on the enemy. It has a high base landrate and will buy you time to run back and Healing Melody. It buys you so much time in-fact that it's not uncommon for you to restore 1/3~1/2 of your CP as well. This puts the fight in your favor. If Transform fails, you have Petrify as a back-up. In some situations, BOTH skills fail. In these cases, pop Quick Escape, Polymorph, or Celestial Aegis and simply wait. When they end, you'll be able to Transform and Petrify again.

In between times where you need to heal, you should of course be attacking your enemy. If things go well, you'll simply troll your enemy to death. This works on a variety of classes, but unfortunately does not work very well on healers (they can just heal themselves while you're wasting time), nor tanks. Sigel Knight's seem to have crazy-high debuff resistance, so you'll find that facing them 1vs1 is a death sentence relatively quickly. Healer's may be beatable by relying on a more brute-force tactic, but I have my doubts.

In PvP Group play: Have someone in your party that is a Main Assist (MA) and rock the opposition with your -PDEF/-MDEF debuffs. You will be surprised the world of hurt that insues when you use this debuff for a Warrior friend. I haven't seen it in action with someone who's a Wizard yet, but I'd imagine it's just as amazing. -40% to defenses is seriously ridiculous and these skills have very high base landrates, so you'll be seeing them land on the opponent tons. You also work well for crowd-control, using Transform/Petrify on the enemy Healer to keep them out of play for a while. This is, of course, much more difficult if the enemy has 2 Healer's.

Using Healing Melody on the weakest ally, you'll see that the skill having a relatively low chain-reaction range is actually it's biggest strength. If there are no nearby allies so close enough that they would sap some of the potential healing, then you have just healed that person for 35% of their HP, on a 3-second cooldown skill. This is very amazing, but very unimpressive if you're trying to use it on your whole party all at once.

I've won many fights simply because the opponent only had things like Mentor Buffs or Elixir of Blessing buffs. Sonatas and Harmonies make a HUGE difference and I just outright step on anyone who does not have them. Being an Enchanter, you ALWAYS have the best buffs, which is a big deal more often than you'd think it is.

All in all, I think in due time, you will come to like the class. It can appear very underwhelming at first, but it's more than capable.
I'm not sure how OP plays his enchanter.. but my enchanter is VERY powerful.. The skills do a lot of damage and the buffs are amazing.
You gotta be ******** me

Quoted for truth
Well, this might be slightly out of topic. Yet as an Enchanter, isn't Dark Elf the perfect class for it? I mean, they've more str and there're skills that use str. Like
Superior Dual Weapon Mastery
Lv.1 – Passive Skill
Increases P. Atk. +235, M. Atk. +104, and Atk. Spd. +10% when using dual swords or dual blunt weapons. When you attack, may increase skill power and Critical Rate. Also, depending on your STR, may reset your skill reuse timers or double skill duration.
Furthermore it was based on BDs Dual weapon. So does it make Elves obsolete at least when faced against the other races that can become Enchanters. And does any good skill remain from before awakening?

As for the skills, I find them pretty much overwhelming!
In PvE Group play: You're a necessity. Plain and simple.

Yup, DE has best STR in the game so should help. Athough theres tons of people on these forums who'll disagree and say all awakened classes have the same stats as they don't play the game, just read patch notes.

Another big bonus is you can keep your dances instead of some new zerk skills so you'll have better buffs. Not sure if song of wind keeps, but that might give SWS a minor edge as enchanter.

Odd, from what I had read all the songs/dances would be reseted:
http://www.lineage2.com/en/game/patch-notes/goddess-of-destruction/awakening/awakening-skill-replacement.php#Iss%20Enchanter

It doesn't say all songs/dances. Yet if BD can keep dances, then SWS can surely do so. Thought song of the wind gets exhanged for refreshing/relaxing sonata which according to:
http://l2gc.com/classes/iss-enchanter/
Gives: Increases party members HP recovery bonus by 20%, Accuracy+4, Evasion+3 and Speed+20, and decreases MP cost by 20% for skills and skill reuse times by 10% for 5 minutes.
So it's certainly better.
Then again with race skills DE get Vanish and more str along with lifesteal
E get cast speed/atk speed and speed. Mp recovery and active evasion. Still it seems BD is the natural base class for an iss enchanter.

Yep, you keep a few old skills and get the choice to replace them with new ones, so can miss the two zerk skills and keep some dances. I looked into it and it seems Song of wind gets replaced with relaxing sonata so definitely BD is the way to go.

I guess you don't want to kill 15-30% faster with a live ISS
I was a human Heiro that used the destiny stone to awaken tank. Big mistake on my part imo, but that's what I get for listening to others. Anyways, I leveld a BD sub to dual class and of course awakend ISS. What I am wondering (because I forgot to check before) do I keep the DE traits?

as far as I know, when you awakend on dualclass you get your race stats and traits ( here HU) and not pre-awakend race stats and traits (in this case DE)

But thats just what I heard or gathered from ppl around the game and forum.

It's more that they don't need one to XP. Live players always preferred, but when you're leveling in Harnak and every Iss Enchanter knows they're wanted for SoA/GoG sometimes you have to make concessions.

And Overlord is IMO best race for Iss Enchanter, especially if you run a mage group. Visions of Pa'agrio is pro.
