Aion is wasd movement. You can put in the option of click to move, but it's about as usefull as WASD is in lineage 2.
Yeah, I play Aion... The movement there is natural, and flight is a cool thing , but not necessary.
Pretty much every other MMO I've played is wasd walk around.
I just find click to move to be clunky, counterintuitive, and plain ol messy. Too easy to make mistakes, oversteer, go too far, and really clumsy if there's some kind of obstacle.

In short ... It sucks.
I think you just suck at it. I have played both WASD and click to move. FPS RPG doesn't really matter. Learn how to play it and you are perfectly fine. The only real need for WASD is for jumping and games where you have to have the target in front of you to attack it an it doesn't automatically face the target when you attack. If a game doesn't have that, you don't need it and Click to move is perfectly fine...

In fact, mouse controlled movement is just more PRECISE then WASD. One click, and you go EXACTLY where you meant to move.
For game that professes to be mostly PvP based, just precisely how to you justify Click-To-Move?
There's no way you can mash your buttons and move at the same time...
well, ok unless you have amazng hands that can hit ALT+F12 or something....
Just doesn't make any sense.
Change the button combo... you have an entire keyboard of keys you can use... just cause alt f12 is the default doesn't mean it needs to stay that way. find something that works for you...

Pretty much.
L2 is sort of like an RTS from the MMO POV. Like... League of Legends, DOTA, or Starcraft, were they an MMO. :P
Click-to-move imo is necessary in this game for proper control of your character, WASD would be way too crappy. Especially since the WASD that is currently implemented doesn't function very well in comparison.
ooo - so now the early 70's l337 sp33k throwback troll shows up...
good ... got anything constructive to add, or ya just gonna sit there and spew rediclulous insults?
Nope, he just wanted to let you know his opinion about you, for the word is censored on the forum.
As for the controls: Once again, you need time to get used to click to move, and a bit of setting up hotkeys and such, but once it's done it's quite enjoyable to PvP with click to move actually.

Well based on how constructive the majority of your posts have been I would say his is right up there with yours.
And really if you think it is too easy to make mistakes with click to move then maybe video games are a little to advanced for you. And if your going to far then you should probably get you eyes checked.
It really isn't that hard of a concept; you see where you want to go, you click on that spot, and your character runs there.
It's just a matter of habit. I played Aion and had no problem adapt to Aion playing (I played archer so ...). Lineage 2 is just a bit different.
You click to where your character needs to move. You select mobs and items with click. As your characters cannot cast or use skills while moving, you need to use a little tactic when moving around. Spin camera to see where you're going, click there, then spin camera around to see enemies while moving. Your character stops when performing skill.
Use keypad for easier access to hotkeys, or at least Numeric block (could be separate connected through USB) as poor man's alternative. Click to move around and select objects. That's pretty much it.
Click to move sucks above abusive kids in another faction.
sucks
Chrome off trailer hitches.
sucks
Then go back to your other games and leave L2 is people who know how to play it. I find the click to move system quite nice, and in fact find WASD system to suck as it is nowhere near as precise as using the mouse to move around.
If you think it sucks so much, quit the game as go someplace else as this system is obviously too complicated for you to use.
People, do you not look at the settings? L2 DOES have WASD, just not strafing WASD. Instead of strafing with WASD, your character turns. On the shortcut settings, check the Enter Chat box.

Just doesn't make any sense.
Thats why you macro ctrl+f12 into
/use skill force
/use shortcut 1 12
and call it a day .
I just think you the change clickToMove presents has made it hard to adapt , no problems with it .
You can enable the "Enter chat" option so have almost all keys available PLUS WASD. I have skills on A,E,R,D and honestly don't even use the "function" keys cause they are too small and close to each other on my laptop.
I've played L2 since C3 AND WoW since TBC and honestly, bro, if you are willing to play any game decently, you will have to adapt to it - using macros and add-ons in WoW and rebinding keys and using macros in L2. I am a PVP oriented player and I find no difficulties in both games in that area. I see millions of players worldwide who are ok with the click-to-move system. I think you just need a bit of practice and a bit of good will ;)
To be honest Lineage draw me to itself so hard 6-7 years ago with things different from the movement system. And it still holds 1st place in my gaming list <3 :)
P.S. I am even using the space button as "pick up" button cause it's easy spamable but was thinking of changing it to "push to talk" for Ventrilo
