What is the benefit of winning a clan war?

I see no purpose of this part of the game for helping anything...

Do you win/lose anything?

whats the point?

If nothing meaningful at risk, nobody cares.

and at endgame when everyone is maxed, all you have to do to completely piss off those you compete against is just always drop war asap...

this clan war stuff needs to be rethought imo.
The whole point is to WAR that clan without penalty, you aren't going to get much more out of it, it's not meant to replace PvE
ok , so u war a clan...but they drop the war...now what?

there is no penalty/reward

once people figure this out, there will be no pvp at all

Takes a week after declaring war before the clan can drop, till then they will be killable
the point of clan war is clan A dislikes clan B and vice versa and they duke it out, I really don't get the point of this thread? And yes if somebody feels they are too weak for a specific war they can surrender, I still don't get the point of this thread?
I appreciate your responses....but you're answering questions I already know the answers too.

do you have any opinion on this topic?

you like/dislike?

does it apply to your toon?

do you even care about clan wars?

or pvp?
my point is that their is no victory or loss in the current warring system

so with nothing to gain or lose, its pointless and nobody cares/values it
my clan has had pretty much constant wars up since like C4 ... so yeah. And I like the new system, the old system allowed people not to even accept a war which was pointless. Now you at least get a week of fun with them.

Edit:
There never was anything to gain in clan wars, except from turning the whole map into a warzone for consenting clans and their members. So I am not sure what you are comparing it to when you say "current".
I've been wondering the same thing about the benefits of clan wars, and kind of surprised they mean so little in the grand scheme.

I didn't understand the concept of a clan war until I me and my buffer were ganked the other day, but while that sucked, the attackers got ganked by other players immediately afterwards, making it oh so sweet. That kind of sweet justice scenario I don't mind losing XP over.
yes clan wars are a freebie so to say for pvp, but mean nothing else in terms of gameplay
you can stop them from leveling which means they will be less able to compete at sieges which means you will have better chances at winning them, which is the benefit for you
lo divertido de todo es que, si el clan que lanza war no le gusto (porque se dieron cuenta que el otro clan es mayor/mejor) tiene 7 días para lamentarse.
: D
PD: sino pregúntenle al clan Drazul
The thing that most people misunderstand about L2 is it is not a game about tangible rewards. It's a game where proving your power and dominance reigns supreme. Bragging rights are everything in L2.

Clan/Alliance A has a dispute with Clan/Alliance B.. In every other game out there save EVE Online, you can't do anything about that. But in Lineage 2, you can declare war on the opposite clan, and you can kill them anytime, anywhere (except safe zones), and you can exert your dominance over them. You don't win anything, you don't get gear, nothing like that, you get bragging rights and the knowledge that you're stronger.

This is a game of a different generation in MMO's. Back when MMO's were released, especially in Korea, that was what was popular. It's also one of the big reasons L2 struggled throughout it's entire lifetime in the NA market, is because people wanted more for the PvP they were doing.

The only thing you can pretty much get for being the best in PvP is castles/forts etc. Everything else is all reputation.

Maybe you shouldn't be a care bear farming non stop to end game and actually pvp along the way...
Its the journey that matters not the destination.
People keep forgetting that. In game they farm non stop, pvp only with lowbies/outnumbered enemies and then they emo because they feel that they can't enjoy the game and they also didn't enjoy it while leveling.

If you want war to have a meaning make "enemies" while you can. (If you understand what I am talking about....If you don't..then just... nvm)
