I'm new to the game but not new to the mmorpg world. When I start a new game I always roll with the class that is least played (whether ppl actually don't like them because they're harder to play or because they don't like them looks-wise... although I enjoy it more if it's the former).
If anyone has an idea which class is the least played, I'd appreciate it. FYI, I'm thinking of getting into the Bartz server, so if anyone from there has any idea what class would be rare, that would be cool.
Some MMOs might be a little more forgiving when choosing a "rare" class, but Lineage isn't one of them. If you are going to choose a less-than-ideal class, then you might be making things difficult on yourself needlessly.
I have a Prophet so I can agree to an extent with John-Doe_. You can't solo with one unless you buy or level a pet, and that's not realistic for a new player. Prophets are not really in demand at the moment either, so it might be hard to get into a good group for XPing. There are occasions when you can get into a group to be a pseudo-healer, but it will more likely be with friends than a random group (the reason is that Mentor buffs are so good, the Prophet now only has a couple of buffs that anyone cares about - though they are excellent buffs, to be fair).
Before choosing a class though, you might want to specify what kind of character you want to make. Melee? Magic? Do you enjoy summons? L2 has so many classes, so there's going to be a "least-played" for any character type.
I understand... as far as class, I've played them all to an extent, but I've always come back to ranged classes rather than those in close combat (the latter I find is a little dull), so I would say from a glance at the website that I'd choose something like an archer or anything with magic. I've also taken on the job as a healer on occasion, but I'd like to be involved in battle as well.
I play at Magmeld, and its hard to see Temple Knights, Prophets, Sorcerers and Warlocks. Ofc, it is because theyre probably the hardest to lvl tank, healer, nuker and summoner :D

Summoner is easy to level all 3 of them, and many want warlock in parties at higher level for DD groups.

I agree, theyre all easy to level up, but warlock is worst of the three. And its not that common for parties to search for a warlock except for ToI archer parties, with a little luck.
If a class is unpopular and underrated in L2, it is not because it requires a high level skill player(as happens in some builds of some classes in WoW, for example, where in the hands of noob players, they don't kill anybody, but in the hands of a skilled player, they kill everyone) it is because this class is boring and useless. As they said before, there is no point in leveling a underrated(useless) class because at 85 they will be merged in 8. Just make the easiest-fastest class to level(if you want a enchanter, for example, make an Overlord or warcrier, they are machines in solo and welcome in parties never make a PP if you love yourself).
