There is no point to think about this subject looking for classes before Awaken so i will write you thinking about Awaken classes :)
Light elf dont have this super race skill which cancels target, erase debuffs and makes you untargetable but has much more m.crit and p.crit MP,HP and CP, and more Casting speed.
Dark Elf has those race skill and more than Light elf M.att, P.att, and less casting speed,MP,HP,CP.
There is faster to exp Light elf before 85lvl becouse of Magnus Unicorn with powerfull AoE skill but Dark Elf looks nicer (especially female :PP )
@Senhia you forgot elf have racial skill with witch you can evade magical and physical SKILL for 15 SEC ,pretty good
+i think cast speed it`s quite important for a summ,i would go for Elf

Have you seen Spectral Lord's Corpse Kaboom? Its basically just as powerful as Magnus' water spell, only thing is it requires a corpse, but it can wipe out velociraptors with one cast (Since as you should know its the fastest way to 85, though PI's quest). There's no much difference between the two summoners, check the racial skills and make a choice, they will be almost the same in term of stats.
