Are you serious? Isnt it enough that mentors have penalty if mentee leaves? Does mentor really have to have a penalty even after graduation? Is there any logic?
When i read the patch notes I thought the mentee couldn't take on mentees after graduation for 4 days but I hear it is the mentor who gets penalized and the graduated mentee can take some of their own right away. Seems to me they got it backwards.

Don't mentor newbies. Nobody needs mentor exp/buffs at 40-50-60 lvl. Personally I don't mentor anybody under 3rd class, that I way I know they are dedicated to the game and character they play.

and please don't make us pay adena for mentorship
maybe one of the reasons mentees cancel the contract is after they level up to the level they want to be, they want to get back at you because you made them pay for something that is mutually beneficial to the mentee and mentor.
if i had a mentor and payed for it, i would certainly leave him right after i get to lvl 84. just to punish him for taking advantage of people who want to be mentored.

making the server Free is a good idea, it generates more income and more players,
as you can see, the server is always heavy because their plan on generating more players was a success
I've taken to only mentoring clannies or friends. Randoms never work out. Like it was said lowbies make alts and there you sit with a full mentee list and no active mentees. I didn't try to charge adena for it,but sometimes you just want to for taking all the penalty risks. I definitely agree on both mentor and mentee take a penalty for 7 days and across the ENTIRE account not just that toon. This would discourage mentor hopping and inactives.

Let's say that today (13 Feb) the 1st mentee of mine graduates.
After 4 days (17 Feb) the 2nd mentee graduates.
And 4 days after that (21 Feb) the last mentee graduates.
Does this mean that I won't be able to mentor a new player until the 26th of February?

That is 13 days penalty, not 5...
Agree with that it will suck very bad if that happen, if while u w8 for the 1st penalty to over another mentee of yours graduate your penalty will reset again and again make u impossible to get a new mentee for over a week, another very important thing that the all mighty NC SOFT didn't think about, they must make some changes in some future expansion/patch w/e also agree that it's hard for most mentors to stay ON 24/7 to help their mentee and it's also stressful for the servers that stay heavy at all times.

And what if a mentee uses a bot, gets banned and you knew nothing about them botting?
You are still out 7 days due to having to remove them from being a mentee because they got perma banned for botting.
Also, many mentee's leave from mentorship who aren't charged to be mentored.
Honestly, it should be penalty for the one who breaks the contract, and no penalty upon a mentee graduating. In addition L2 should auto remove without penalty any character permanently banned from the game.
That's easy to fix. If someone doesn't log in one day and you do, remove them. Save yourself 4-5 more days of waiting wondering if it's RL issue or whatever. They don't get a penalty. They can just find someone else when they log back in.

(buffs should last 24 hours, so every time mentor logs on, they get refreshed)
It even costs NCsoft money in the form of bandwidth. They should make it so that its not necessary to be logged in at the same time to receive the benefits. NCsoft is either still charging by the hour in Asia or else they have lost their minds.

xD greedy as usually mentors aren't they? if your mentee leaves he has a reason, he is no pleased with you not being online. Which means as a mentor you don't care about your mentee, you just want to get your stuff coins not only by staying afk, but by not even being on when he is lvling. That's a well worth penalty because no mentee would be crazy to leave a perfect mentor.
You guys should seriously be happy that mentoring doesn't work like in Aion where the mentee and his mentor have to actually party together and mentor takes 0 exp 0 drops from everything his mentee kills under his supervision. That would totally ruin your fun wouldn' it?

How about the Mentee who levels to 84 99.9% and drops mentor to give his friend the Mentee coins? That happens alot, not to mention the Mentee who gets a free mentor and stops logging in and decides to play another toon, and doesnt bother to tell his mentor? Who is patiently logging in everyday to ensure his Mentees get their bonus?

That may be inconvenient but the mentoring system is to help low lvl characters, the coins are just a stimulus for high levels. But if the greedy people who sell their mentee spots fo money and also hope to get a lot of free stuff just by staying logged in... wel... it does look pretty bad and im sorry to say i have no sympathy for them whatsoever.
A mentor has 3 mentees. He sure gets coins for at least one of them. A 7 day penalty might not mean NO coin at all. While the mentee depends on that 1 single eprson for a lot of reason. A mentor means a lot more for the mentee than a mentee for the mentor. A lot of mentees depend on that 1 person. HAving 3 mentees lvlup like crazy because you require them to work out your coins it just doesnt appeal me at all

Well this system gives us a decent rewards which has to be not very spoon feeding. Com'on guys quit complaining if you don't get enough coins from your mentee's. Make your own toon mentee's, if you want to have many many coins in no timefor your self.
For that the problem for your Mentee hopping mentor will be solve not unless if you are really lazy and don't have patience.
Not all players can online 24/7, they have life to live for and FYI L2 was just their option to kill some boredom in this real world. You are unlucky if you pick an alt toon or lucky enough if you got a decent eager player.

People are complaining because of the penalties the mentor eats. 7 days if a mentee leaves you and 5 days for one that graduates. I've full warned randome mentees that I work during the day and I do not leave my pc on while I'm not home. The mentor doesn't get bucket loads of coins,that is where you misunderstand. To get any decent amounts of coins the mentee needs to be about 79+
Really, why would you like to help some random player? Really Why would you mentor your clan mates toons?
At least if you mentor clannies you KNOW they'll play the toon and are less likely to slap you with a 7 day penalty by leaving or being inactive and forcing you to boot them.
