However. I have to say, I am disapointed in the official servers. MASSIVELY. If this was a private server, neither me, nor any of my friends would touch it. No bot prevention and therefore overabundance, constant adena spam, no GMs at any reasonable time (took them 4 days to respond to 1 single question. 4 days to work through 37 tickets) and Im constantly getting the feeling that the game itself, as it is coded is designed not to help but to annoy you (new PK system anyone?). Add to that the fact that people keep behaving like ******** and getting away with it, simply because if you do anything about it, you get punished.
I like low rate servers. Simply because there arent as many idiots who only want to PK with +15 everything, and bots get shafted a bit harder when banned. But the official servers are NOT enjoyable, because of the new dailies, the fact that the entire server feels like a 200x or so.
So what exactly (other than DDOS attacks on privates) makes the official servers superior? What makes them enjoyable, more so than others? What makes YOU enjoy them? The new shiny topB weapon? The chance and challenge of getting Aden castle? Fighting Zaken with just 1 teammate at night? What?

Its free and people get away with more because there's lack of GM monitoring. And updated content and events. Who wants to play gracia final when you can have L2 retail current and it's free to run all over and be a idiot.

I think your missing the entire concept of the game here. Before I started complaining about crap like this, I'd be more concerned how a company I enjoy so much can make SO little money, and continue to stay afloat. Their item shop atm is ridiculously out of sync to the game. I dunno if you even know the story behind this, but NC lacked the sponsorship for Lineage 3. So they took all their work already created, and invested and dumped it into L2 to enhance every gamers experience. Allowing a fast forwarded version through the game to offer more end-game content, experiences for all to enjoy. I personally think this was an EXCELLENT idea, and a great way for even the casual gamer to enjoy him or herself without having to give up their family and friends in order to compete with the rest of the community.
Personally I think your whining over the small things far to much instead of enjoying it for what it is. I myself made level 72 in 4 days! With nothing more than about 3-4hours day of gameplay. I've enjoyed every moment of it thus far. Lineage 2 is it's own unique style of gameplay. If you want pretty vibrant colorful cartoonish, diaper changing, mouth feeding MMO experience, then I suggest WoW xD

I was disappointed too when I saw bots running/farming non-stop, of course the server is full because of bots ;) Adena Spam is annoying too :/ And yes GMs are not online.
But if you think that the problem is because of lack of GM team you are wrong. Maybe there should be more but let's go through everything:
The first problem is that the official has to deal with 5-6k player on 5 Servers! Not 100-200... And also if you ever where a GM on a Private server you would know how stupid most players are and I understand if there are GM on but just hidden... It annoys me when I have to deal with 20 Stupid ppl out of the 100-200 which a pserver has. Imagine you have to deal with 1k!! :eek:
So ingame the servers are, bots, adena spam, no GMs. But the onsite Support is fast and good! When I had a problem ON CHRISTMAS, I went to write a Support ticket onsite, 1st answer after 1 min... They tried to help me as much as they could I got 3 answers from different people. Thats good if you ask me. And I bet if you go reporting bots/adena spammer with some SS or proof it will be all fine.
Next problem, even if you report a botter/adena spammer it's not a problem for them! NEXT CHAR. So pointless!
IP ban? I hope you know how easy you can change an IP...
All in all, GMs can't do anything about Botter/Adena Spammer. It's just waste of time.
I bet you would ask me why does the official have so many Adena Spammer/Botter while the pservers have almost none?
Adena Spammer: They have better chances to scamm someone on a server where 6k player are on then on a server where only 100-200 are on..
Botter: I bet botting started when official went for free... It's like this either you pay for a nice and clean game or you must deal with cheatter. And trust me every 2nd player now on P servers are botter. Maybe not farmbot, but there are a lot of different bots!

It's just another feeling seriously. Just from the videos I have seen I am amazed! Look at the sieges!! Not 1-2 parties fighting but 3-4 Alliances!!! Not 1 Alliance rules the whole server all castles etc!! New features!!!
If you don't like the server you can leave :/ I bet you will come back when there are GoD private servers ;)
Private servers are just some poor Copies, the good ones are not those who try to immitate the official but the ones with their own Gameplay...
But, I am sure that it's not the fact that L2 Official is a fail game or something, it's the fact that everyone imagine something else as the "perfect game". It's up to you if you like it or not, if you play it or not.
The only thing that rly disappoints me here is the massively botting.
Even reporting is not enought most of the times.

About adena spammers i hate them too as well,but i understand that it's not an easy task to costantly ban them for the simple reason that they would make no stop new characters to continue the spam.
There is no 100% bullet proof bot protection....just saying to those who complain like little *****
Let me tell you something. Bots are and WILL be made FOR NCWest/Innova's servers ! Everything else they work on is an effing bonus. The thing you call "bot protection" is nothing but a piece of crap.
The most powerfull bot detection software would just fail if a skilled developer goes at it and that's what happens here. No one cares for your lol private server with more bugs than my hair strains....
Botters make bots not for pride or to annoy the GMs/Other players. They make then for money. They make them so later on they can sell items, adena, characters you name it.

Some private servers have official server files, 4-6k people online during peek hours, active GM's and working bot protection.Working bot protection? Even if it works it's about time when the next bot programmer finds a way to obviate it, when the time comes the way will be published and all the bot programmer will make their bots suitable and ready for the next round...

That's not some it's 1 server which has a good developing team and has managed to make real money out of the game, that's it!

Why the bots annoy you so much ? Most of them are more "polite" than the players. I've never been KSed by bot and no bot has stolen my spoils/drops yet. Just report them and move on. Sooner or later they will be banned. Every bot gets banned. NCSoft doesn't ban people just because you tell them to. I admire that ... everyone should not be guilty until PROVEN otherwise.
And believe me. GMs are pretty much active. Just place yourself in their place.
Would you accept any petitions when every single ****** bag asks for level and items ? O_O

I've seen the same spam annoy me just as much on a certain private server.
I would rather play on the official/original server and here is why:
private server:
+ some nice customs
(+ better ping, because server hardware is in your country)
+ ok, no or only few bots and adena sellers
but
- many server have to few people, so mostly comunity has its core whitch is hard to get in or to get along with them
- skills or whole classes can be manipulatet -> unbalanced (and sometimes admins deny it)
- GMs and admins abuseing thier "might" or are baised
- many server have so many bugs, and many of them will never be fixed
official server
- in so many poeple can be many 'unwanted persons' (still friendly spoken)
- server can be full (at weekends) so you can't log in
- the staff havn't the time to care about every problem like it is the only problem (but i'm sure they do what they can)
but
+ many poeple, and many chances to meet nice player, find new friends(in game) and play in good parties
+ 'mostly' the bugs will be fixed
+ no legally risk for user and operator
+ classes and skills work like they should
So in my opinion official server wins!

L2J-Off is not off files.
The off files you are talking about are since C4 heavily modified to accept clients higher than C4

there have been exactly 3 NCSoft l2 server leaks: C1, C4 and Interlude. EVERYTHING else you have played aside from these 3 is modded off files. ie a Russian kid in a basement with a retail trial account trying to emulate Gracia or High 5 on Interlude server code. And yeah geodata is much easier to acquire than it was back in C2/C3 when no private server could figure out how to get Toi working, but everything else isn't. Skills included. It

I have encountered a couple of servers with fully functioning Gracia off files. I was playing on retail at the time and compared.
I also heard rumors of the first servers to get it paying huge amounts of money for the files.
