Can a sub class become a mentoree?

no, as a subclass you cannot be a mentee, and you do not get your mentee's buff if your a mentor.
Best Idea, make a new account and power level it. You could level a 2,3,4 or even 5 man train to 86 before you'd get a 40 subclass to 80
