Moving controls...

Hello everyone, ive just downloaded Lineage2 to start playing, i have made a characher and log on to the game.
My question is, what is with the controling ur char? i have feeling like he is drunk and have to control him to move straight....where is strafe? jump, the normal moving like in all games? coz this is NCSoft game, lets say, moving like in Aion? the normal one...
its very complicated at the very begining of the game for me. is the moving system in Lineage2 like that r im missing something here?
tnx.
It's click-to-move, no jumping. Use mouse, not keyboard.

As noted, movement is very very simple. Just point with your mouse and click... no mashing keys to do 15 moves at once. Just point and click.

Inch.

shame:( i cant play like that, i wanna move my char how i wanna move it not to click and bash to walls, etc.

how to move in PvP? lol moving in duels, PK is very important.

ugh, turn on the controls like in Aion to play Lineage2 happy...
Can mods start merging these threads?
L2 is made for click to move, and everyone else has the same "handicap". Therefore you have no disadvantage.

Trust me, most complainers are able to get used to it within few weeks.

sry, i disagree, moving is very complicated and limited.
WSAD (strafe left, strafe right) + space (jump) is best moving for me, sad it is not like that in Lineage2 :(
Never played Diablo? Warcraft? Or any other RPG/RT strategy?
Try it first.
How I hate WASD movement.
However, L2 is made for click-to-move. It's really easy to adapt to that, and you'll understand quickly the reason for this movement choice -- you can't move with keyboard AND use skills fast enough in pvp. You would need at least 3 hands.

well, i didnt have problems with that in Aion, Requiem, Forsaken World, SUN, War of the Immortals...i love to combine moving with skills, the PvP is more interesting and more intensive then, main thing, it is kinda richer.
With click and move its boring for me:(

I was hoping that L2 have the same controling coz i like the game very much..

I cant compare home pc game like Diablo with mmo. There i just click, **** and slash...one hand is on the mouse...the other i can do whatever i want lol

well, to be true, i cant adapt to that, im sorry:(

If you find the movement system in L2 too complicated then this game is not for you, go back to your WASD games. The movement system is quite easy and from what I can see by your comments you have no interest in even trying to learn.

Lineage II is the way it is and it is NOT going to change just because kids like you hate the movement controls just because they are not Aion, WoW-like. Besides, why would anyone want to strafe or jump in L2?

Movement is simple, you put the mouse pointer where you want your character to go and click, seconds later he/she walks there.

Lineage II is for serious gamers who want a challenge, if you are turned off the game because of the controls then go back to your other games.

In my option WASD movement system is just for people who are lazy, I hate WASD and even if L2 got it I would disable the useless thing.

There are less skills in Aion (deppends on class ofc).
+ in Lineage you cant move while you cast/attack. Casting or using of skills is very fast so you wont mind that much.
As I told you, everyone has the same possibilities of movement so it wont bother you much after some time.
Try it.
The OP is one of those people that think that all that hopping around and moving makes em good at PvP, just like in WoW here you will end getting owned acting like an ADD riddled fool

Adjusting to click to move takes all of 5 minutes to grasp, an hour or so to master, give it a try, you will like it eventually, it's SO much better than all that WASD nonsense

I heard Counter Strike is free now.

It's not. Or is it?

And you sound like one of the people I slaughtered in every mmo with WASD controls. Anyone who thinks click-to-move works well for pvp here, especially with the lag and choppy terrain, is nuts. How you guys can think that somebody isn't able to use WASD controls AND use their skills at the same time....it just makes me sad. Just because you don't know how to remap keys or use your fingers doesn't mean that every other mmo on the market with tons of pvp(and a WASD movement system, so almost all mmos)is inferior to L2, your whole way of thinking is completely backwards and it makes me laff.

While the movement system in L2 can work ok, it is a relic, and their "version" of WASD is pretty much an abomination, but it still has uses. To you elitist people that think click-to-move makes you a better mmo gamer or something; go play Ultima Online with old school rules, THAT's how you do click-to-move, and THAT's how you make it work with pvp. If you haven't played UO and think you know anything about click-to-move, well, I again laff at you.

To the OP:
It really is a pain to learn click-to-move, and yeah, you will be running into walls/getting stuck in groups of mobs/lagging a bit and flying through terrain/etcetc throughout your gaming career, it's just something you deal with. You can use WASD controls if you go to your options and go to "enter chat" mode, I have my F keys remapped to regular number keys and I remapped tab so it uses a next target macro, it isn't anything close to what WoW or other games have, but it's definitely better than click-to-move a lot of the time.

TBH, this whole attitude of "well *I* had to deal with this system that doesn't work well, so you should to!" is probably the biggest reason behind changes being slow here, and irl. You think that just because *you* didn't raise an eyebrow about it, that nobody else should either? It's like working a job under dangerous or unsanitary conditions because "everyone else does it so what choice do I have??". It's a very sad mental state to see people in, as it only hurts themselves and those around them.
You guys are way to spoilt. Adapt or play an other game. Even me can play both games, and play what the games offers.

+1
I dislike click to move since i play L2 ( 6 years already ) ofc i get used to it but demn the game is 7 years old and this click to move is still extremly buggy... you get stuck in the middle of nowhere,u click somewhere and your char stuck at one palce and is unable to move or you click somewhere them lag and jump 1000 meters and thers more problems with click-to-move...
the Aion WSAD moving is awsome made and idk why we dont have the same controlls here since the early info for GD say that we get a new improved moving system ...
...yea right NcSoon
btw in Aion u can click-to-move or use WSAD ( guess what works better )

In L2 everything is automated, it doesn't requires wasd like wow, where you need to move fast and use your skills at the same time. in wow you can't use your skills if you are out of range for example, you need to enter in the range of the skill to use it, and need to turn the target to use. You are saying that it is impossible, but a skilled player in wow can do everything, can manage your skills-cooldown and can move fast in pvp. to play spamming your skills without worrying about anything else won't work in wow as it works in L2. WoW if a more "targeting action" oriented MMO.
..., PK is very important.

Dont worry, we dont miss you.

Now about topic.
You wanna play L2 in normal movement mode...
Well, click to move is just normal like wasd or any other mode.
I really dont get it wheres the problem to adapt. Its click to move, use it, learn it, adapt it.
I play games with wasd movement and L2 with click to move, dont find any problem in that.

Anyway, have fun in AION

L2 is L2 and WoW is WoW, why the heck should we change something here to be same as other game? Anyone who would like to do end game pvp in L2 with WASD is either crazy or stupid. This is not WoW where you jump like moron around your target and spam 3 skills, I cant imagine using 6 or more skills in pvp, spamming several potions in the same time and running with WASD. Open your eyes, this is simply different game and absolutely not suited for such kind of control. If you think we are hurting you by wanting to play the game like it is and not making another WoW clone of it then please close the door when you will be leaving.

because L2 is about spamming skills-potions, potions in wow have 2 minutes cooldown, you need to be a lot skilled if you want to survive and kill in pvp. I know this because I play both games, I have an open mind, not a closed mind as many people here. And as I said before, everyting is automated in l2 and many players want more and more automated stuffs, because many of them use third party programs to spam potions automatically.

How open minded is someone who steps on game forum and demands changing game mechanics so it will be same as his other favourite game? And no, everything isnt automated in L2. Fact that some people use it and cant live without it doesnt mean that all do this. Most of players can handle these things without scripts. And sorry, maybe I am not open minded enough but I havent seen a single WoW pvp video that would make me think WoW players are somehow specially skilled (I dont consider running around enemies meaninglessly and trying to target him for that one or two nukes that you spam as a skill).
Since you cant move while using skills and move directly to your target when you do use one, I don't see how not having WASD makes pvp more difficult. I think having to run around in circles and all that is irritating and less realistic. However. I had to learn how to use WASD afte trying other games after l2. I find the best movement is had with the combination of both. Mostly I use WASD in pve. L2 could benefit from introducing an improved version.

If you want to learn how to use point and click effectively here's a few tips. Click the ground unless you are moving long distances. Just click the exact spot on the floor you want to go. This game actually has pretty good pathfinding and will navigate you around corners and rocks most of the time. (Not all the time) Keep your camera angled up a bit so you have a clear view of the floor. Also keep it zoomed out to max. If you're kiting you can keep your camera to your char's face and just click behind you. Thats kinda all I can think of. It's really not that hard o.O!
I love it because I can click to far away and then look around me.

if you don't move properly in wow, you will die, no matter which class you choose and which class you're fighting.

If you are a melee, never will reach a mage, against other melee too, because it will move around you and you won't use any of your skills, because you can't use them if the enemy is not in front of yours.

If you are a caster never will kill a melee, because they will reach you fast and you have low armor.

if a caster vs caster, your enemy can go out from the range of your skill, cancelling your cast and enter again and attack you.
Truly, point-and-click is a little tricky and bothersome at first but there is an action to select nearest mob you can assign to your bar and an action to autoattack aswell so you don't have to target enemies with your mouse.
And you can move using the keyboard arrows if you hide the message box though it's not the smooth movement I think you expect.
Yea, the movement in L2 is a weak point. but the game does excel in other areas, and it's worth getting used to the movement imo cause it is a great game. It would be amazingly epic if it had smoth WASD controls and being able to use skills/abilities while moving, imo thats the only thing missing.

Like already said, you can use "enter chat" to rebind all your keys, and use a combination of WASD and Click to move, but you still wont be able to circle strafe, well you can kind of but not tight circles.

Good Luck.
The people who are complaining about the movement system will just have to get used to it since it's been this way since the game was created.

NCeast will not change it now as the movement system is what makes L2 different from the other WASD movement games; I hate WASD movement system anyway.
