I didnt play L2 when it was p2p, although i played the first open beta, when it launched. Since then there have been alot of new updates.
With the newest one GoD, NCwest decided to go f2p, because player population shrunk to nothing. The update is flawed, bugged and doesnt seem to make ppl happy in the long run.
Since the cash shop opened with GoD, NCwest promised items that wont brake the game....well well..we know what happend..
They put enchant stones to buy in theyr shop, that everyone with a heavy pocket make a +13- +20 Wapon. Ofc it isnt cheap.
Those players that botted their way up to high lvl can probably make those wapons too...lets say...in 1y.
With those enchant scrolls NCwest showed once again their evil face.
Lineage 2 went fully p2win. And on top of that, it feels more like a bad private server, than the official one. Everything that their kept is left with their name but with those changes, they lost their pride.
Welcome to an overexpensive private server, where ppl with heavy pocket reach endgame in 1 month and have by then +10- +20 sets, while the normal player would need hardcore grinding of 1 year (im talking about 22/7) to reach that status.

As for the donate .. well look it's a game .. a game that's supposed to make money. NC, nor anyone in the world would give a **** about some players' power balance they need to make money. And seriously I don't really see anything wrong with it. If you're a kid u have plenty of time to grind so go and make yourself a few months of grinding 22/7 just to be a pro in one of thousands of MMORPGs around the world. Then again if you're an adult and making money you'd better spend you one day salary and buy those balance_crushing items from the L2Store in order to avoid the 22/7 grind. What happens when two pro players stand up against each other and only one has a +20 weapon that deals twice the amount of damage of a standard +3 one? The on with less + loses ofc. THAT is the difference. A moron can have a nuke on their hands and still lose cuz they can't play but that ain't called victory... it's just bullying the weak and stupid .. that for the pluses ... and It's not like I really care about any of the + or items to be bought or anything ... it's just a game and one that should just fill up a bit of my free time I don't think there is a need for anyone to live inside this game whatsoever. My guess is that this player has a dozen bots running around 24/7 leveling them to 43 (full quest range and make about 3-4M adena per bot in around 4 hour. Then he sells it using one of the many RMT-SPAM bots in every city telling you that 100M is around $25 and he dilivers within 5 minutes.
Do you realize that all those ebuyers that use the RMT to buy adena are filling up a couple of PayPal accounts so that they can actually BUY these things from the L2 cash shop? Indirectly a lot of non-legit players are as guilty of this Pay2Win as the one selling the adena and buying himself that +16 top-R weapon.
I think NCSoft didn't 'see this coming' (as always with them) that the RMT bots might be the same as a couple of players (most likely from top clans who're using 3rd party programs for everything already) and that these players now hold an ever TIGHTER GRIP on the server in both political & economical aspect...

guess you're right. I think however that NC shouldn't be so lenient about this. If the quests are getting abused, they should turn em all off. But that would take quite a load of work so it's not like they're gonna do anything.

So you saying a +0 tank can beat a +20 tank? Or that a nuker +0 can beat a +20 nuker?
Get real, +20 on nukers means 2-3shots anything, which does not require skill, it requires the pressing of 1-2-3 buttons in sucession (and i don't even wanna think of archers with all that stacked Crit dmg..).
Tanks have no chance when their oponent has 2x more def, more hp and 2x more p atk. a tank with +20 can just auto hit to kill another tank..or warrior and dagger for that matter.
L2 is that game where in combat, OP gear is truly unforgiving, because low gear is ineficient no matter how good you play it, yes some classes are naturaly weaker to others giving the oponent sometimes some advantage...but it might not be enough with all these damage multipliers.
Imagine 3nukers with +15+20 casting Unleash Mass Hell on ppl while they can't notice it..(cause using reflect or invinciblity is the only way to suceffuly withstand this and counter atk). Truly unforgiving...

I don't quite understand why so many people are crying. NCsoft needs to make money some how. This is what I hate about the general person who plays "free to play" games. You whine and cry about the people who spend money. First off frankly your leeches you contribute nothing to Ncsoft, and really do nothing for the game except take up space. I'd much rather have had this game stayed pay to play. However that being said that wasn't working, l2 was dying, has been for years. But the moment it turned free, all these scrubs with some messed up sense of entitlement come to play and think that them buying 5$ if even that, of items from the l2 store. Think that Some how they are doing more then their fair share to contribute, even though a game that charged 15$ a month per account wasn't making enough money.
Free to play games are not free, IT COSTS MONEY TO RUN THE ****** GAME! It costs money to have GMs, it costs money to have active support staff, etc etc. If one Support staff costs say 14$s an hour and works 40 hours a week full time that means ncsoft is paying him just about 27,000$ a year. Which Is honestly nothing and perhaps get payed much more. Take that and multiply it probably by 20, with the wages only increasing. If you multiplied that by 20 not even adding increased wages for 1 year, you would need 9000 players to at least spend 5$ once a month. That's just low wage staff, never mind all their other expenses like keeping servers running and what ever else. If you a free player and your going to quit, no one cares.
(I'm not from the states, so I'm sorry I'm bit ignorant about what the correct wage for that kind of job would be.)

Just because something has a lower financial investment doesn't mean it is not addictive.
An addiction exists to the point it either alters your life-style , be it human relations , studies perfomance and / or work .Further an addiction exists when you spend on it , money you cannot afford to , or that you had to spend on other things like mortgage /rent / bills / food / gf whatever.
This is not the case for me as to any of those two , therefore I dont consider my self addicted , neither as time-consuming goes or money-consuming goes.

A +20 weapon will not cause someone to do twice the damage of a person with a +3 weapon of the same class. The difference is close to 50% more damage actually (somewhat depending on if we're talking magic or physical).

This game is getting on in the years. What would you have prefered? NCsoft shutting it down due to lack of revenue? If they can get people to pay for it after all this time then you should be congratulating them... not being jealous over people with more pocket change than you do. Oh, get off ur stupid high horse! Lol! Yes, it is text speak and yes, people use it on the forums cuz people appreciate convenience. There are instances where a certain discourse is called for, but come on, be a realist and admit that a game forum is not one of those places.
Oh, and to ur point that only truly intelligent people behave in a way u think they should, let me just mention that I do have two degrees that I have obtained with honors. I also speak, read, and write in 2 languages fluently so there is absolutely nothing wrong with my intelligence and level of education. OP, I understand ur frustration, but this game is competitive so if u r a casual player and don't want to spend a ridiculous amount of time and/or money, you will only enjoy some aspects of it, but definitely not in it's entirety.
first thing for the OP statement no one will buy enought scroll to make a +15
if you get like 60% of enchant working you need 25 scroll... so 25 destiny pack so 625000 coin. Max is 8 k coin/ month... so 78.125 months...
