Why so many ppl hate on "them" when it is obvious that a fix is bein attempted?
At least it appears something is trying to be accomplished here.
without doubt we appreciate ncsoft work for the lag issue,
but still all players would be glad to hear one day from them "we found a definitive solution against bots"
Anything that does not work - bug.
Shots not work? This is a bug.
Bag must be removed.
Need to remove the shots.
Your logic, sir, is full of flaws. Aristotele's rolling inside his tomb.

Chronos is back up and so far everything looks okay, but as you know the issue does not necessarily show up right away. We will continue to closely monitor the server for the next few hours to see if the lag returns. If it does not, we will consider implementing this fix on the other servers. If it does return, we'll report back to the developers and request another fix.

I would be more excited if they applied their test patches to a test server instead of a production server. Other than wasting our time with even more downtime, patches have been so far useless, and compensation way inadequate.

Can't be done, even if there was a test server, these types f patches can only be tested with a full server load, something you can't reproduce in a test environment
Will Shilien be comming down also? or was the announcement on shilien meant for chronos only?
The announcement was meant for Chronos only; currently there are no plans to bring down the other servers, but if this happens later there will be a separate maintenance announcement for those.

Then why did I see that on Naia also?

For starters they could test to see if the patch breaks more stuff up (which most patches lately have been doing). Secondly, I disagree with you. You can test just about anything if you set your mind to it. You just have to automate everything, and you'd be all set. Need to simulate 1000s of users connected? Create a bot program that logs in 1000s of accounts. That's what is being done in other industries. Just because it's a game company doesn't mean they shouldn't put any effort in having proper quality assurance.

PM China and ask them to log in their toons, that should help us figure it out quicker.
If you can't find a fix for the SS lag you should just turn on this for the duration of the incedent.
Live life on the edge and fight without fear, for the death penalty is gone! If your character is killed by a monster or during PvP, he or she will not lose any experience points. However, characters will still lose experience points if they die while Chaotic.
That way people who die to mobs have less to complain about.
Thanks for the info Sace, and send my thanks to the team working on it. They could have just went home for the day and left the servers as they were and.blamed the lag on client connection issues. That's what my company's IT department would do LOL
I have been monitoring the latency on Chronos since the server came back up from the emergency maintenance and there does not appear to be any issues so far. Once we have verified that the fix is working, we will apply it to the rest of the servers. If you are experiencing lag issues on Chronos, then please post in this thread immediately.

I doubt it after all those weeks.
But if it's the case, I thanks you Devs and NCSoft.
It will be a pleasure to play again and quit Guitar Hero.
Please do not be so hasty to say these issues are fixed. A lot of people are still not logged on many are out for the day, maybe working visiting, doing errands whatever.. give it a few days for everyone to get logged in then check it.
I believe our world will not be fixed until its capacity and size are increased or its population is decreased.

I agree, I'll believe it on next Saturday afternoon.

hey Juji, mind sharing with us on what you guys actually did and why you guys so sure that after wensday's maintanence one of the files wont screw up everything again...and what lags are we talking about? from your point of view? (i.e. shots lag? npc lag? quest lags? wh lag? museum lag? auction house lag? oly lag? or lag lag?)

It's ITEM SERVER lag since the event corrupted his database. uh, no?

The item lag seems to have subsided. However, during mass pvp on Harnaks 3 there is a large amount of server lag. 2-3s delay for me and a lot of people I'm pvping with. Seems that everyone is effected by it. However, once the pvp was over and we went back to hunting, the lag left. So there is some lag related to mass pvp (4 groups vs 4 groups ours was) that is still causing lag.

It's called a radar program. Happens during sieges too.

No. I was pvping with the same people yesterday, vs the same people, and there was no lag at all, though shots wern't working. Contrary to popular belief, these programs do not cause lag. It's just a typical "I lagged out" excuse as to why people lose pvp.

Had nothing to do with losing, it can be just fine and a certain clan comes into the area and then the lag starts, and it wasn't just me. There were 6 other people in the party who claimed the same problem way before the server had problems. I've won in pvp and lost too,but when that is the same clan and it happens, yeah it's radar

There is no possible way that a program can cause only an area or certain people to lag. If you knew anything about how networking and traffic works you would know this. All traffic has to go through the server, and then to your client. If these programs were making you lag, it would effect the entire server, not just you.

I don't know how these programs work since I don't personally use them, but I can tell you that you either have not had it happen or just plain think you know something. Of coarse it didn't just affect me,I did say when those players where in range 6 other people instantly became lagged. And we've noticed it other times with that clan. Coincidence? I doubt it

I played aion as an elyos ,we referred to this as asmodian lag.whenever the other race came into range we had split second lag. Not everyone on the server. But it may be different back here in L2 sounds similar.

One persons connection is not enough to cause the server to cause you to lag. Nor is 200 peoples connections to the server. It's not any program, maybe coincidence, but not a program.

So it is fine by you to use a commercial service which potentialy (to borrow that from the potential fix line) you have paied as well for (and dont give me that "free" cr@@p) and being scammed?
Cause we all know that someone is making money out of it and people are being scammed by paying and not been given the service they have paid for.
ONE month to fix this and that is just the lag and not the "have a coffee and you might" login issue!!!...yes I would be more than happy with this if I was on a pvp server where I dont pay a single cent.

Amateurs dont know how to generate heavy traffic on a test server, so they need you to be their guineapig...

What are you braging about man? Its ppl like you that add up to the bots and leaving legit players out of the game...go wonder 7 account loged in...pffff...

The funny thing with bots it`s that ,yes they implemented chat restriction for characters lower then lvl. 20 to reduce gold sellers spam on chat, BUT after that update i saw on Chronos on starters area (lv 10-12) 2 trains of bots in just 1 spot, like 8 Dwarfs on each train, so...why would someone just bot to lvl 8 dwarfs(x2) unless..they are gold sellers who bot to get lvl 20 and continue chat spam?
does this only increased number of bots much more?only explanation i can find.
I played for about 2 hours last night with no lag for ss, and no item lag, but there was mob lag. I was at seal of shilen, and we'd clear the field east of cabrio. I would attack mobs with summons, and they would just stand there not using skills, they wouldn't aggro, etc. A few of them never attacked before I killed them. A couple times they glitched back to their spawn point. Time was 12am to 2am est.

I'm fairly certain radar problems are against the EULA...
Anyway, despite I'm not liking the idea that anyone is using a radar program, Yavi is correct in regards to how TCP/IP works. If one person was causing lag, it would effect the entire range of the server, not just a select group of people. I'm gathering the data obtained by radar programs is strictly client side, given the data is already there, it just needs to be interpreted through packet inspection (Which is against the EULA btw). So if there was any lag, it would be CPU/Memory bound, not network bound.
(Unless it's actively creating new requests, then yes -- it would use exponentially more bandwidth)
The only reason you may have been lagged in-excess simply by being nearby someone is coincidence unless there is actually more entity requests affiliated with those people to begin with (Be it loading different/larger textures, or just more items), which again is actually CPU/Memory bound.
An example of a larger portion of differential entity requests between two characters would simply be the glow between +3 and +4 or higher or having different skills activated.
In regards to lagging more in Harnak -- it could again just be the fact there may have been more people there to begin with nearby. Just because you can't see the characters, nearby NPCs and PCs still being processed. So even though you may have been fighting with the same 60~ people, there may have been still yet 300 more people in the area than last time which I gather would make logical sense for a lot more people to be there at all times given SS are fixed.

Ah asmo lag .. was better than any radar program in pvp lol. But that was actually the "new" textures loading since asmo skin/clothes/gear had different textures from elyos and so were not cached or w/e but loaded everytime you came across one. At the end when I left aion they must have changed something because i had "asmo lag" whenever i met other elyos and then shortly after my client would crash -.-
