We have no problem even if we can at least write false letters such as times HellBound and Gracia

Sorry For My english
Note: in one of the private servers there a programmer made the Chat Writing Arabic language true 100% (The Characters are connected -writing from right to left "because the Arabic language written from right to left")
there is no way to type ANY arabic (or non latin) characters, if you are able to you have modified the client which is a bannable offense. The ability to type non latin characters existed only for 2-3 weeks, created chaos and was immediately removed and that was years ago.

Players who are able to write Arabic are the only who setup the language on their windows
nope, windows is irrelevant, the game itself doesn't have any non latin fonts, to type non latin you need to modify the game, which again is illegal and bannable
Even though the arabic is kinda weird, the "vocabulary" of the client is way "bad"
Example, i'm portuguese, and alot of the words i use have accents and others like
"olá" that means "hello", i cannot put an "á" since the client only have "a"
Others like "cão" that means "dog" and "caçador" that means "hunter", without those the text gets weird.
The client is from NCsoft, and for them to fix this is just change one file basacly.
You're gonna say "talk english like normal ppl", well, there is no rule saying i MUST speak english, and if i'm talking with fellow portuguese, why speak english? :p
Btw, the system damage text sucks, i'm gonna change mine.
if you want to talk in your native language to your friends go on vent, the game client is english, I was here and hero when unicode support was briefly enabled and I don't want to go through that experience ever again.

I'm already on TS, but not every portuguese ingame is on the same TS/vent
But i see you point :) i was just giving my opinion
(The second shot was taken on my laptop which needs 125% font size due to its 1080p display.)

I guess I wasn't playing during that debacle. What kind of issues did it cause? Just annoying spam?
Yeah I tried to change font size to 125% too, but then 90% of in-game texts in dialogs are not readable, links and texts are one over another etc. This is what you get when you program game that has only fixed window sizes fo any text :(

Yeah writing in Azbuka or Greek alphabet since most heroes were Russians or Greeks. Honestly I did not mind it, I could use special characters from my language's alphabet.
Well, I'm french, and many words in our language use accents such as é è ç à ê î ï etc...
The point is, if we allow some special character for some people, we have to allow it for the rest of the players, and the all/shout/trade chat will soon become unreadable. The lack of accents on characters tend players to speak english when they speak to someone else.
In game chat =/= MSN Messenger in game (they can use it, but you cant from INSIDE the game) ...
Ofc all language characters can eventually be used, by replacing files in system folder but as all others above this post said, it's a bannable offence
Since L2 is originaly Korean is should have built in unicode support.
and there are many other games and mmo's out there that support unicode and I have never heard of them disolving in Chaos because someone can type おはようございます。 in chat ..
I remember that before GoD there was in the "Useful Tips" on the loading screen something about it being possible to use both Korean letters and Chinese ideograms (obviously that was only intended for the Korean market :p ), and if memory doesn't deceive me, I have seen screenshots where Japanese players used Hiragana (http://www.omniglot.com/writing/japanese_hiragana.htm), Katakana (http://www.omniglot.com/writing/japanese_katakana.htm) and the Chinese Kanji in their character names. So unicode support must be in the game files. I could imagine that it has been deliberately disabled for the English version to avoid disharmony. I personally have no problem with people using foreign languages, but many players feel uncomfortable when they don't understand something, believing that fun is being poked at them. That's just human nature.
As to Arabic, I guess the main problem is that it's written from right to left, while Japanese, Thai, Korean etc. are all written from left to right. So you will never get the ligatures right without major hacking. Wouldn't it be easier (and faster in chat) to use the Latin script, writing "halla" instead of the clumsy "ا ل ه"? Like Russians often use the Latin script, writing "JIEHI/IHa" instead of Ленина.
