Mentees Need to Have Penalty Too

So a mentee can delete his or her mentor with no penalty, but the mentor has a 7 day penanlty. That is so not fair. If they delete their mentor they should also have a penalty, especially when the mentor stays log on all the time for them and they just up and delete you with no dam warning. It is too one sided and people are taking advantage of the situation.
You also get a penalty when one of your mentees graduates.
Really? I thought the system said you weren't supposed to get a penalty if they graduate at 86. Sure your mentee didn't just stop at 85?

I'm just now starting to do the search for mentees and not looking forward to having a bunch of cancels and the like ><
A penalty after the mentee graduates is perfectly fine, atleast they stayed loyal to the contract. True there are mentors that barely logs on, but what about those who are constantly on and ppl delete them. I'm just saying the penalty should be two sided before the mentee graduates.
I don't get why people would want to delete their mentor if they're always loged on and even paid them for it, unless it was a free mentor? :/
There shouldnt be any penalty at all so if a mente has an inactive mentor or the oposite, they could search for active one, this is system was created to help new players lvl fast with buffs and vit and it has been abused by people who play 2-3 days in game and then quit so much that noone is taking a stranger as mente anymore and for old players to cover their needs into items through mente coins and this is not working also. The only thing that mentor system is doing so far is lagging our servers.
That is even a better solution than mine. Remove the penalty all together. And yes, the mentor system is only lagging the server. I know for sure i won't be that nice again and mentor random people, they are just abusing the system.
Well is gone from being loged in all the time to demanding powerlvling, asking for adena, shots, armors. A clanie just got droped because he wasnt online for 2 hours cus his client crashed. My clanie pmed the mentee saying grats cus it just lvled and the mentee said f*** off and left him as a mentee, cus of 2 hours.

So if you are a good mentor and your mentor stays until they hit 86 is ok to get penalized? thats just stupid.

I got 6 of the first 7 places for play duration and mentees still leave cus they want more than being loged in now.
Currently a mentor receives a week penalty if they, or their mentee, leaves one another.

Currently a mentor receives a five day penalty if their mentee graduates.

Currently a mentee receives no penalties at all regardless of what happens.

The last line lies the problem. Mentees can bounce from person to person, all day long, with no penalty. The reason this is a problem is you're leaving mentors with these stupid penalties when something might not have been their fault in the first place.

Many mentee's have unreal expectations from their mentors, having to be logged in 24/7, with literally no room for error. People have lives and there will be times where they DC or the server crashes and they can't be there to immediately log back in.

Yes the buffs and EXP gain are a big deal, especially when grinding, but there needs to be different parameters as a whole.

Mentees need to incur at least a 1 day penalty when leaving a mentor to make them think twice about it. When you have to go a day without buffs and an EXP bonus suddenly 2 hours someone is offline doesn't seem like such a big deal.
is hard one option

without penality mentor
A) mentor kick the high lv menteer for more coin

with penality in menteer
B) mentor long day without join in game (wth?).

A vs. B

if mentor have good time on is 95% chance u menteer no kick u mentor.

i am menteer have one mentor no much active, i am waiting waiting one hour i go kick he, i lose much time and he get much coins with my ups without buff mentor.
+1 to this idea, either of them could work. The point is to create a more symmetrical relationship.

What I suggest meanwhile is you have a good talk with the people who apply to be mentees before accepting them. Tell them what you can do and ask what they expect. This should reduce risks fairly.

I know when I was looking for mentees people came with impossible ideas like they want to level their 3 subclasses before graduating, or they want me to stay online all night for them.
One even suggested I use google translator to his language because he didnt speak proper English.
The lack of common sense is quite amazing sometimes
a 1 day penalty to quell scammers would be better than none at all.
but a 1 day penalty on both sides.
3 day would be reasonable.
7 days... that's pretty rough.

especially if the mentee joins up with a war tag just to leave them as a way of sticking it to the man.
I think the penalty should be given to whichever character decided to split. So if a Mentor boots his Mentee... one-day timer. If a Mentee leaves their Mentor... one-day timer.

This five-day timer nonsense is just that... nonsense. But so is having to remain logged in for Mentor buffs.
I agree mentee need to get a penatlty too.

Recently, i had room for mentee so i went and recruited 2 new mentee.

I warn them that sometimes, i get DC while at work/sleep but i would log in as soon as i return/wake up.

When i tried to invite him it said he already had a mentor, but when i told him he already had one he told me to try again, and it worked. ( basicly he just left his offline mentor.)

Well that little plucker went and found a new mentor while i was disconnected, leaving me with a 7 (or 5?) day penalty. He had absolutly no consequences at all.

But let's be realistic here, This is NCsoft, and they absolutly do not care about Lineage 2. Can't even fix lag problems, can't stop bots, can't end an event properly, etc etc. So do not expect anything but waste from any post in this thread.
the mentoring system is made so that low levels can get to higher level content quicker. this should not be changed.

however i think they should have a better system in place.

when contract is fulfilled..another words mentee graduates, no penalty should be imposed on anyone.

if a one sided cancellation of the contract is initiated, there should be a 7 day penalty to the person who initiated the cancellation and a 3 day penalty to the other person.

there should be a mutual cancellation of the contract, meaning both parties agree to part ways, in which case, this should happen either within 3 days or before 10 levels have been acquired. in this case, a 3 day day penalty should be applied to both.
I agree that there should be penalty for the side which canceled it.
But also 7 days is kind of ridiculous amount of time. Just imagine you kick an inactive mentee of yours, get 7 days penalty, by the time you can recruit a new one, other mentee could leave or graduate, so you could easily end up with 10+ days of penalty.
3 days sounds just fine to me, and one or two days for mentees (as they benefit a lot more from mentor buffs and exp boost). This way there could be more mentors as well, and it could eliminate (or reduce) "need" for mentoring fee, which means less scamming, less crying on forums and more newbie friendly environment.
But well, I doubt they'll do anything with the system for a while.
i think good enough would be even making like NOT possible to leave mentor/mentee from 85 to 86 , so if one will awake he cant be left or leave his mentor untill he makes 86

p.s. after awakening with mentor on me and gettting that 86 , i can start mentoring myself , yes? there is no rule that once u have been mentee u cant be mentor?
sry for newb
