"Your password should be between 8 and 13 characters, beginning with a letter, and containing only numbers and letters. It must contain at least one number."
Really?
Must start with a letter?
Only 13 characters long?
Only letters and numbers, no characters?(*&^%$#@!><)
WTF?... I have always used passwords like qazxsw or qweasd 1qazwsx1 and have never had ANY of my accounts "hacked". what "hacked" means nowadays is "im fing stupid and gave my password to a br and he stripped my toon"
Or , "Im fing stupid and dl'd a keylogger that was attached to naked dorf pics.gif.exe, and now all my b grade stuff is gone" Whats the problem? you want them to to put 400 char passwords in?

I'd take a 400 character PW..just cause you said it.
well thing is that nobody is siting there and trying to guess you password. If there is keyloger, or you used your password on other sites who recorded all that, there is no difference how long or what symbols you use. It's like stealing key, there is no difference how complicated key mechanics is - if you have it you can unlock what is locked.
Same with passwords, i have seen russian hacker sites, where they have leached databases from private servers. No matter how hard is password, they all are in simple list.
I grab my scrabble game, a deck of cards and throw them into the washing machine and keep switching cycles every 45 seconds. I then take 2/3 of the pile and put it in the dryer and have that go for about 5 minutes. Then I take 1/2 of that pile and put it into a blender for few seconds. I then go outside and wait for 15 minutes and count how many cars have passed. I then ask that many people to go pull a random item from all 3 piles I made and bring them to me. Next I take a leaf blower and turn it onto max and aim it at the pieces given to me. Finally I blindfold myself and search around the area trying to find all the pieces. After I'm done with that I make my password 12345678. This is the same password I have on my luggage amazingly!

So this is what people do when they are bored *smacks head* I been doing it all wrong!!

I did non of those, yet I got hacked, I also just took someones advice and made a new forum account instead of using my account thats linked to my ingame one just to avoid a forum **** of some sort, still though, you don't need to do any of that to get hacked, even my cousin got hacked on a game and he downloaded nothing (he barely even used his PC) and told no one his pass.
They need a password for the warehouse above anything, so at least if someone does **** you, you have some items that he can't get to...
I have played for over 6 years, and used perhaps a dozen different passwords in that time.
Nothing fancy, just a random made up word and some numbers and letters on the end.
So far, I haven't been stolen from (I wont use the word "hacked" as it's in entirely the wrong contect here wrong).
At the end of last week, I picked up a handful of virus/trojans on my pc that somehow got through the virus scanner etc. so I moved the files I wanted to keep onto a spare drive (no exe files), and re-installed Windows, deleted the L2 system folder and re-downloaded the updater.
Your personal safety is what you make it. If you leave your key under the mat, one day someone bad will use it.
* i'll end on a lighter note..
my friend David had his id stolen, so now we must call him Dav
I can make an "uncrackable" password with those rules, not hard at all to make a good password and not use any extra symbols
No you can't, because every password is crackable. It just becomes how much time and effort a hacker wants to put into cracking it; placing such basic limits on the password just makes it that much easier for the hacker.

If you paid ANY attention to what's posted here, you'd realize that no one is brute forcing your PW, some people get keyloggers on their systems and that's hew access is gotten, not by brute force like you are implying
If you would keep all your info to yourself a password like 123456 would be sufficient already... (login name is not your forum name / toons name here so it can be secret)
Noone knows your login name if you don't share it, so it will be extremely hard/time consuming to '****' an account if you don't have an account name to start with...
Chances are extremely low people get 'hacked' by a brute force attack...
I'd say that 99% of the cases the cause of being 'hacked' is:
- Their PC is running a keylogger
- 'Friends' that shared the account robbed them
- They fell for some stupid phishing mail/site.
