NAIA/Chronos possible solution for server overload

So according to http://naia.kaifas.lt/nosound/ as well as http://chronos.kaifas.lt/nosound/

On both NAIA and Chronos there're around 800-900 shops! Also if you look at the graphs this number is pretty dam consistent which means that at least around 1000 server slots are being taken just to sell stuff out which could be used to house people!

Since NCsoft did this in AION once it launched I'm pretty positive that they do have necessary resources and knowledge to do this for Lineage 2 as well. What I mean is to disable private sell/buy function and leave auction house only. However since our auction house takes pretty high interest rates, specially on products that costs few hundred millions those rates must be adjusted as well ir REMOVED COMPLETELY(or lowered to something like 0.01%)

I know there's a lot of nice liveness associated with private stores, but at current state I believe people would be happy to just log in instead of having private buy/sell. Also if auction house fee's would be removed people would gladly put the stuff there instead of playing with shops. I believe it would be nice if NC considered this option and could give a vote pool to ask for players opinion on the matter.

This would only result in 800-900 more accounts for bots.
You might see an improvement for a week, but soon those 800 free slots in server capacity will be filled by bots.

The real solution is to invest in more/better servers and limit the multi boxing in just two account per IP.
And towns wouldn't be a pain to walk by, and scammers would troll the idea, and it would be awesome, but i'm afraid they will never do it :(

Multiboxing should be limited not to IP because for example me and my brother share same IP as we use same router but 2 clients per MAC address which would result that 1 machine can't lunch more than 2 clients. At least limit multi-boxing on NAIA/Chronos as those servers are most affected.

That would work just as fine I guess :)

Yes that would work, but multi-boxing is least of an issue, trust me. I'm pretty senior member of my clan I know who has what alts and how many people box. I could count maybe 5- or 6 ppl boxing from my clan, same with ally. Boxing in GOD is not efficient way of leveling at all, it's much better to find half decent party rather than box ISS and lvl in swamp/FG.
Cant remove shops completly, but putting in some restrictions could work

Buy shops = Keep

Package sale = keep, must be more than 3 items

Anything that stacks cant be sold in shops
SS excluded, AH just dosent work for buying big amounts of SS

Remove item limit on AH, lower fee and set a max amount
(i know the fee get lowered in tauti? )
It's the event! Oh wait, event's gone. Now it's the shops! I bet that if they removed the shops we'd have the exact same situation, because the 800 - 900 player shops would be immediatley replace by 800 - 900 bots
Most likely

So, only solution is to ban bots....

Meh!

+1 !!

Finally someone say ... :)
Maybe fixing the server farms to be slightly more up to day would help too?

Between when Lineage II started in 2003, almost nine years ago ...

... disk capacity (for the same price) went up by about a factor of 2500 (it quadruples about every 18 months).
... speed of an average low-cost computer/server went up by a factor of 350 (it doubles every year, more or less)
... we went from 32 bit architecture design in servers nearly everywhere to 64 bit architecture design in servers nearly everywhere
... the network speed of the average server went up from 100 Mbps to 1000 Mbps (and the potentially available bandwidth went up even more, if you're willing to pay for it)

Consequence? Eve Online is easily capable of holding 50k players on a single compound server (http://eve-offline.net/?server=tranquility) (Transquility, in this case), with the record being over 63k users. NCSoft doesn't manage to break significantly above 6k users on a single compound server (Naia or Chronos, take your pick) without it starting to break down quickly - and that didn't change much since when the game started.

Update your server software finally, NCSoft!

Limiting multiboxing won't affect real players that much.
I agree with you that real players boxing 1-2 chars is not a problem.

But bots can have 10 chars botting using out-of-client programs from the same PC.

Well I've seen p. servers in the past holding up to 9k players(trust me, there was really 9k players PER SERVER) the thing is, it's nightmare gameplay wise. Look even now it's hard to find a decent place when there're 6k online. I believe 6k is a ''healthy'' maximum intended by designers. However if we look at 95+ leveling places there are barely enough for like 200 ppl AT BEST ar the same time.

NCsoft needs harmony update if they wanna increase server capacity.

That's of course the other part of the equation: Instead of adding a whole continent (or at least kingdom) as part of an update (with assorted new castles, forts, and of course XPing places), they go and add tiny pieces of it and friggin' instances. We still miss about half of the planned kingdom of Rune, 90% of the stuff east the Seal of Shilen and most of Gracia.

Also, the current landscape could easily be doubled in each dimension (quadrupling the amount of space and consequently the amount of people being able to play in there at the same time).
Just make more instance zone type territory, or make dynamic layers in hunting ground.
Just pure and simple
