My husband's account was hacked. He was stripped. He sends in a petition and all he is going to get is bound items? We have been playing since the end of chronicle two and this is the best you can do is bound items? I know it’s possible to roll back the char because you have done it before for a friend of ours when he got hacked. Why not a rollback?
7 chars worth of items we BOTH labored for. A moirai set that was on loan from a good friend. That’s a walk in the park to make again. Bw and doom sets that aren’t easy to re-make either! The mats just aren’t out there anymore. A clan wh full of mats! Millions in adena, two striders that were gifts from a clan leader in chronicle 3. Things we were attached to, little item reminders of our playtime on lineage two. Things you can't just rebuild, that we hung onto like you hang on to old pictures or cards. A long history, gone.
This hacking problem is your fault NC! It’s rampant! His computer is clean unless there is something very very well hidden. Secure your sites or we suffer? This is unfair and incredibly poor customer service from a provider we only recenty stopped paying $60 bucks a month to. We are owed nothing better than bound items to rebuild? Why rebuild! I can't even log on most days anyway. I don't have the patience to spam my password continuously for 3-7 min for both my accounts. I don't want to quit, but right now neither me nor my husband see much point in continuing to play. Or attempt to play, since you won’t introduce a queue.
This is just so upsetting. I know we’re not the first or the last long time players to be treated like this but I reserve my right to be angry and express it on the forums. We ALL deserve better! NCsoft, I’m disappointed in you.

PS they never ever rolled back characters. On some occasions they reversed trades, when it was feasible to reverse them but if you think about it it's impossible to rollback just one character. What if the items they stole from you got sold on auction? then somebody bought and enchanted them? Or they flat out don't exist anymore cause they were crystalized or npced?

no NCSoft has never created duplicate items, NEVER. In all my years in this game the maximum they have done, in times when the support/player ratio was at its highest, was to track down stolen items and return those that were still in the possession of the thief.
if it's a **** NCSoft has no responsibility UNLESS someone hacked their database, if you choose bob/password as your very secure l/p, or ingame_name/pownzor or whatever other silly combo
I am not showing off anything. But every person that gets hacked thinks it's somebody else's fault they got hacked. And usually it's insignificant accounts that end up getting hacked. Which defeats the purpose of someone going through the whole trouble of hacking NCSoft. If they can reverse or social engineer YOUR l/p it's not NCSoft's problem, it's yours. Similarly if you have a pc with 20 different trojans on it, or use the same l/p in 20 forums, 11 private servers and whatever else, again, it's not NCSoft's problem. Nor is it a ****. Somebody that goes through the trouble of hacking actually targets, doesn't blindly **** A weapons and striders.
PS I know a guy, I won't name him, that has created an "I got hacked" thread in this forum. He's a clannie. Wanna know how he got hacked? His email was [email protected]. His password wasasdljais90847 (ie not easily guessed). He used bob and wasasdljais90847 as a l/p combo in an l2 related forum. Then his gmail got 3-4 accesses from chinese IPs, then his L2 account was stripped. He will never admit that here, but he told us the story in clan. Doesn't mean he wasn't swearing it was never his fault in his thread here.
I was only paying attention to the hacking problem when it first started, but it’s apparently come from the path to awakening site. It’s unsecured and apparently a cookie can grab your info. This is not a standalone issue. If you'd been paying attention to the forums earlier in the month or last month you'd have seen reams of accounts have been getting hacked. The computer is clean, my husband’s a computer tech and has scanned it and gone through everything himself.
Yes the rollback is rare. It happens. A friend of ours was hacked maliciously some time ago and all of his things were stolen and he was delvled. They set the char back with everything intact. The point of the moirai set was, if you read, it WASNT ours. It belonged to a friend, now we can't give it back. Or we can after god knows how many hours of farming the mats, can't buy a new one because the adenas gone. I don't have enough on the account that wasn’t touched.
It cant be an ip thing because we both play off the same ip with 4 accounts and we share computers. Only one account was touched. That account was the last account to use the path to awakening. As stated before, people have already figured this out earlier this month and toward the end of December when it started on a large scale.

the path login is identical to the forum login you are using to post this thread, and yes both are secured. ****e certified 128bit SSL. Ie identical to whichever banking site you use. And no there's no login info in a cookie, the cookies reside in your hard drive you can inspect them for yourself, even if somebody could read the cookies (they can't) from a different domain all they would get would be hashtag, not a l/p pair.

The fact people on the internet "say" something doesn't mean that something is true. Most people that "say" something don't even have a clue what they are talking about. Case in point: unsecured path site. Another case in point: Elvis sightings.
As to what you get ... yeah it sucks you just get bound items but that's their current policy. Obviously they are too short staffed to fully investigate, obviously they will never run the risk of feeding fake "hacked" players with new items just on their so ... so ... yeah you are stuck with bound items. You can rebuild fine though, 90% of the playerbase in R grade + uses bound items too
1. You botted
2. You got or already were in the past infected
3. You used one of the "Speed up your gaming experience" programs
4. Others know your login and it was lost through them doing one of the above
5. Used very easy to guess password
Other than that, I do agree with you that NCSoft has a very sad policy in regards to hacked accounts. They really should do better and I had actually hoped that this would have changed with GoD, so Lineage 2 comes up to par with modern games.

I have used the forums and Path to Awakening site all the time and not once have I gotten any of my 5 accounts hacked. Players will often come up with any excuse to try and get out of "I was hacked! Do something!" problems.
Almost 8 years playing here and never once had problems with my accounts.
