Phishing scam or idiotic support??

I got two emails through last night saying about how guild wars 2 is out soon and to update my password for security by along with a link claiming to be to the website.

Naturally I ignored it and didn't click the link. Even if sace said its legit I wouldnt click any email links. However nothing looks unofficial about these like they usually do and it was sent to 2 different accounts?

So phishing scam or are support complete idiots and sending e-mails with links to encourage people to click links in scams later on?
que?

mail was legit, just ignore it.

My point was that it is completely moronic for any company in this day and age to be sending e-mail to it's customers about passwords with a link to a password change site.

If you don't want your customers getting scammed you make a point of NOT sending mail with links telling them to update their passwords. You don't teach your dog not to drink from the toilet by making it's water bowl look like a toilet.

Personally I think (and hope to god) it's a scam.
i fail to see where's the problem with they reminding us to change our password.

Sigh.....

For the third time:

No professional online company should ever send an e-mail with a link to their account services site telling the user to change their password as this is the main tactic used by hackers to steal accounts.

If a company sends out ******ed emails with links then it encourages people, like you, to assume a scammers mail is real also and fall for scams.
Yup, standard policy by every normal online game company is to tell the customers "Never click any link in a mail! Always enter the website URL manually in your browser and then click on "account" there! Never trust any website URL in a mail, it could be a phishing mail!"

And then NCSoft sends a mail with a link "change your password now, click here" to everybody.

Yes, my first thought when I saw that mail was "this is a fake mail", too.

What's really funny is that this very same mail contains a link to the "play smart" website, on which you can read:

Be aware of phishing and pharming sites, and be careful about clicking a link to one. Be skeptical about the sites where you are directed to. Phishing sites may have misspellings and poor design, but they can also be high-quality copies of official sites, or sites that claim to be official sites. When in doubt, navigate to a site by entering the address into your browser's address bar.
Hmm i guess they didn't think about that like me :D
That's why i don't run a game company :D

So you're saying that if it was fake we should pay attention to it? :p
