Every day, no, make that every minute I see shouts of "WTB Iss Buffs"
I will usually buff anyone (and for free, but that thread is elsewhere on these forums), but I have recently gone to the stance of, if they have a mentor, I don't bother.
Seriously guys, Even with my +2 enchanted sonata's you only get 6 minutes of them, go level with the mentor buffs you have instead of standing in town shouting for 20 minutes or more getting NO XP.

Aden and Gludio where I tend to live when in-town (afk doing RL stuff on the PC usually), there are the usual RMT spammers. the fix? /block <today's RMT name>
What is harder to do, is block all of the people (and there are many) in town whining for hours on end with "c'mon gm's get rid of these adena sellers"
"yeah, their spam is really annoying, get rid of them"

Unless the Iss is following you all over, it's a huge waste of time, when I XP I look at hours of time spent XPing, not worrying that my buffs are going to wear off and have to run back to town.

you missed the point there.. people have become soft. they think they cant XP without the iss buffs. they can, they just dont want to.

Mentor buffs are level 1 Iss Melodies. The only thing you're missing are Sonatas and Harmony.
And Wizard/Warrior Harmony are pretty OP for low levels. 100% Crit, 40% M.Atk + 15% Clarity, etc... That's pretty powerful on lower level toons, since a lot of those XP areas aren't balanced to expect that level of buf***e.
That's why people buy the buffs. The Sonatas are a bit of a boost, and probably help them get to where they need to go faster (+20 Speed). It's the Harmony they want.
Personally I've been going out of my way to compete with Buff Sellers by giving away free buffs and half these buffoons still rather pay even if I'm standing there saying "I'm giving away buffs for free..."
Maybe they don't understand English to well /shrug/
But buying buffs is a waste of money IMO, especially at the pre-80 level range. I see people in B Grade levels paying 100k for Iss buffs. Seriously... ...
So today is the last day I'll be giving away buffs on Chronos. If the playerbase is willing to bend over for boxed buffers ****** their pockets, they're free to do so. Not gonna waste anymore of my time.

The Harmonies are a ridiculous boost to some classes. Wizard Harmony on a Mage sorry even I'd run to town for that if I had to. 40% M.Atk and 15% Clarity has a huge impact on your leveling rate and efficiency, to the point where it's worth it to lose 15 minutes an hour to make sure you have that buff for the other 45 minutes.
I'd say for i.e. Archers Warrior's Harmony is similar.
The Sonatas aren't what people are buying. They're buying the Harmonies. That's why NCSoft added them in, but they did it in a fairly idiotic way.
Should have just added them to the Mentor NPC and let the Mentee pick which one they wanted, instead of that stupid summon skill and buffs that (again) disappear when the mentor logs off.
BTW, Mentee Mage + Aeore Mentor is pretty pro now.

the mentor buffs dont give you Warriors Harmony <-- vital OR any of the protection buffs <-- also vital for lvling higher lvl light red mobs without losing a brickshit of HP and MP and those last the full 30 minutes.
(yes i know mentors can give you mentors berserker harmony that lasts one hour BUT MOST MENTORS ARE AFK ALL DAY)
so smart ISS buffer you, what you should do is just take the cash and realize they need those if they want to grind and stop being all butthurt about it on the forums.
P.S. dont go changing your statement to "PEOPLE ARE SOFT NOW A DAYS DERP A HERP" because you were proven to be an idiot. just accept the fact that you're not the sharpest tool in the shed and carry on.
I agree with Mole in that it is stupid to buy these buffs. I wouldn't even consider it. Perhaps its because I still hoard all my money (I even pick up other people's money...for free!) even though I get free stuff from the Path to Awakening. Maybe I'm still thinking of the days when I hunted with no buffs and it took me weeks to level up but I think the standard Mentor buffs are awesome! I'm still enamoured with them. Besides I'd barely make it out to a hunting ground before a 6 minute sonata ran out. But I mean if there is a market for ISS buffs maybe I'll use that Stone of Destiny in my inventory when I achieve 85....;)
i was under the impression that they were adding harmonies to mentor buffs.
sonatas are nice to have, i usually just gave people refreshing sonata to help them get where they were going faster.
They only last 2 hours and the mentor has to cast it on you. It also disappears if the Mentor logs off, gets disconnected for 40 seconds, etc. etc.
And the day I put myself in the situation to have some mentee pop up a summon dialog in my face while I'm I dunno maybe trying to PvP or deep in a dungeon somewhere leveling is slim to none. I'll let my boxed toons summon me, though :P
The issue I feel is that people seriously don't care. Adena has little value to those lower levels because they get everything handed to them. This wouldn't have flew a few updates ago, but now they don't think about it. They don't care. They don't even care if you're giving what they're paying for for free. They'll happily pay instead.
Adena means very little to those new players, because up until R grade there is literally nothing that they REALLY need adena for, except ports. And even then, R shots are basically free...
Back in the day most of us would rather level up our own buffers than pay for buffs, because we needed adena starting at D/C grade because we had to do everything NCSoft is pampering these newer players with manually/on our own. Leveling up and wasting 20M on bought buffs in the process meant we had to wait often significant amounts of time (cause we had to buy or craft our own shots, you know) to upgrade our gear, or weapon, or jewelry, etc...
I no longer care. I simply get more time to do RL stuff since instead of sitting in Aden trying to break this cycle (almost single-handedly), I lock my computer and go do something that's actually productive. Can't help people who don't wanna be helped, and really I can't bring myself to take a payment for something that costs nothing to cast.

People are offering 200k-250k at times.
I always give them away free too.. even when people say how much and /trade me. I say, "not it's free" and they ask how much again.. as you say, English possibly isn't their first language.
There's a toon called Chewie in gludio on Chronos who always buffs for free too.. his shout line is "Iss buffs truly free(tm)" lol

I was shouting too these days a lot to be honest and I always found an Iss on the second or in few moments. I don't see a reason as well that makes you so angry more than these spammers for adena and pwrleveling.. I hate them too, really, but I pay them no attention anymore. You should do that too, works! ;o
I found really great way to exping without any Iss help or just a buffer help. You just need a mentor and many shots, thats it. There are plenty zones made exactly for each class to make the exping easier. I wont say all of them cuz it will takes a lot of letters and time and tbh I'm so d.mn lazy to write. :D
76+ Mages, Daggers, Kamaels - Imperial Tomb deep in the small rooms. There are mobs called Succubus of Darkness/Death/Fear and few more I think which I dont remeber. And guess what.. THEY GIVE SONATA BUFF FOR 5 MINS! Awesome, right?? Yeah, so The only thing you need is that what I mentioned earlier in my post. SHOTS AND MENTOR!
For Archers and Crossbow Users you can go in Plans of Lizardmen which is a great spot for 74/78 lvl from my own experience! There are some neutral mobs which gives u really good and helpful buffs for Cross/Bow users, like - atk. range, Increasing P.atk. on Cross/bow users and plenty more ads.
For below lvl characters you can go in the usual spots from the previous chronicles. Blazing Swamp, Wall of Argos, Hot Springs and etc.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I've found my own private Iss buffer that I payed on her everytime I need a buff, but with the time she stop taking money from me. I was really grateful for her help, but now when I found my own way of exping I dont really need her help anymore, but she still asking me if I need buffs though..
Hopefully when I become a mentor, I'm gonna make my own Iss. It's the best way as for a beginner imo.
The need for "WTB buffs" arises for practical reasons. Very often I am in a town doing some things (crafting shots, buying supplies, etc) and I see someone shouting "LF ISS buffs". Most of the time I will not provide them; either I am busy or I am simply bored to do so. When the shout is changed to "WTB ISS buffs" this might give some people an incentive to go out of their way and give them.

There's a huge demand for ISS buffs. People are lazy and they want easy mode. So if the demand stops, the selling of ISS buffs will as well.
As it is, way back in the day, my Prophet was constantly pm'd for buffs. Whenever it was freely given, the expectation is gimme gimme gimme.
With the new Mentor Buffs, my Mentees are constantly pming me to give them a buff, in fact, some of them refuse to even level anymore if i don't hop over to give them the buffs to the point of annoyance.
I used to give out free ISS Buffs, but the minute someone found out i was giving them, i'd get bombarded by a ton of messages to 'BUFFF ME PLZ". Probably how a Drug Dealer feels when he walks into a crack house.
Nowadays I just charge 100k to 200k, can't be arsed to buff for free anymore. Take it or Leave it. (some people actually lol at my cost but come back and beg for it or get angry with me when they can't get a freebie)

Blame NCSoft for even putting that buff in the game on Mentors... I believe it.
This is why I don't mentor anyone but RL/long time friends and my own alts...
I will have an R Grade toon of every class before I mentor another random... And then I can just ignore them and won't care if they leave since I'll have a perma 41 mentee on all my accounts/toons to log in when I want the mentee xp bonus...
