Vitality was created for Casual Gaming?

I remember Vitality was introduce to L2 to help casual player who do not have long hours to grind xp and help them not left behind by the hardcore and 24/7 afk players. It was very good and work great even for high level player back then since Vitality regen when you are loged off or in town.

Now Come GOD update, Vitality no longer regen (except every weds when server down). The bad part is after awaken at level 85, Vitality is no longer helping casual player at all. At any level 85 XP spot (solo or group) Vitalivity will be completely use up in around 1 hour. We can buy 30min vitality pot from l2store but can only use 7 per week. Yes it help but 7x30min is only 3.5 hour/week. Maybe I play more then other casual player but I average about 1-1.5 hour a day so around at least 7hour a week.

How can we the casual player even keep up and not left behind being level 85,86, 87 while the afk 24/7 player all hit lvl 95+ and some lvl 99 by the end of this month?

If NCSOft is not Aware or not paying attension, the Game Fun stop at lvl 85- 86, and Casual player are very dissappointed. Full Vitality bar at level 85 is consume and empty in less then 1 hour xping and net a whopping 5%-6% on the xp bar. with only 7 vita item per week that 3.5hours of xp is too low what can we casual player do now to be not left behind by those player whom xp with non vitality afk every hour, everyday.

Sorry for long post and my 2 cent worth of QQ. As many of my friend and myself are casual player and we would love to keep enjoying this wonderful game.
I was gonna make a post refering this..right now i dunno vitality's role. It's just a booster for below 86. Might aswell cut the original needed xp 1-86 in 50%.

It just seems devs scrap or forget their original plans a LOT.
I would't even buy anything if I was playing an hour a day, but I hope for 2x event when most of the players will reach the level cap.
it was never meant to be that you can hit max level in less time then say 3 months in this game, L2 is grind fest galore.. anything less it wouldn't be L2 :)

Harmony & Tauti max level is still 99.. aka if you hit max now what do you intend to do the next 6~8 months after hitting max level ? I'll be fine as I will just play like I did at 85 100% for a year+ but how many others will get bored hmm ?

Harmony: a few more xp areas/instances
Tauti: more end game spots again..

in short imo more fun when ur like 90+ when Harmony comes out and 95+ for Tauti so unless u gotta dominate in oly/pvp why rush xp ?
I don't believe average legit is above 90, if VIT was more available for 86+ legits wouldnt go hiting 99 in 3 months out of the blue unless they no-life, if they get bored, it's their fault they didnt enjoy the game AND life in a more profitable way.

Plus that would be just one more incentive for those people to not play so much and stay looking 12 hours at a darned computer screen.

And there's still dual class to level.

And there's dual SA now.

If vit only favours casuals the most, why would it even influence a lot no-lifers in the first place? (in terms of them getting 99 faster) Cause for sure you wont see casuals hit 99 by tauti or the next big update:D

That why it even worst. At the curent rate player who play 1 hour a day even buying those vita potion, there no way to even come close or near in term of xp and level for casual player. Pre-GOD with 4 level of vita(300%) and nevit, 1hour of xp with vita would equal 5-6 straight hour of xping without vita. This make sense and really help casual player plus vita regen when offline so when they log in nextday (level 3 vita have regen to max level 4). SO an casual player can play 5-7 hour with full vita per week would = 40+ hour with those afk 24/7 player.

I think this deserve ppl at NCSoft interest and can help with the problem in L2 now

If you think about it you could argue that the new VP system was introduced alongside F2P for profit, wich I agree with, but I think this is game-breaking, like so many ppl said already this is just NCSoft turning into RMTS...

Someone talked in another thread about the League of Legends model, like how NCSoft should sell lots of cosmetic items in L2Store (TONS of new/different hair accessory, TONS of mounts, things like the title dye are awesome too), the SS/BSS are ok I guess but boss jewels? come on... you can argue that it was only during a random event and that those jewels are not that great lvl 90++ but still it feels wrong and in my opinion drives away the players that can actually help the game flourish

Have VP replenish while not logged in game and stop selling vitality items in L2Store, the more I read this the more I think this is the way to go, thus casual can stay on par with the hardcore nolifers (no offense) and the game will be so much more fun, no more full server with half afk people, etc.

You see how different ideas/suggestions from different people with different opinions can lead to actual great things... this is what communities are about :') of course it's far from the perfect solution, it's just an idea/suggestion, maybe it'll help someone reading this to come up with a better one! gogo :)
Vitality for casual players below level 85 yes. Why would you ask for the old vitality system back ? Old vit bar drains faster, and to recover it you need like 4 days out of game. I would ask for better vitality items from L2 store, and a price revision. After all game is f2p, pay for something if you want it.

k, I'll buy a 99 full geared toon in a couple month then play for free and never have to buy things from L2Store cause you know, I'm 99 full geared :<

money is not the problem... why people think it is? because we come from private? I'm actually paying 2 subscription to others MMO I have fun in ATM... you're not helping
I would't even buy anything if I was playing an hour a day, but I hope for 2x event when most of the players will reach the level cap.
They need more than a 2x event for most players to reach the level cap, for a few reasons:

1. Events don't last that long. They won't boost rates 2x for several weeks, or even a couple. Maybe you'll get a double XP weekend or a Vit Pot event, but we know they nerfed revita pops severely since they were first introduced (they used to be amazing, especially when you had a stockpile of them).

2. There are only so many good XP spots, and with that kind of event they will all be taken and highly contested. Where will all the randoms XP? Even now people get PK'd/PvP'd out of spots in SoA/GoG/etc. by stronger groups from stronger clans. You won't be XPing in swamps, because every MOB will have a bot or player waiting for it to spawn to attack it. We've seen this happen in past events with less than half of current server populations. You run the risk of relegating "average" players to such bad XP spots that they mind as well not run the event anyways. The people who benefit are always the strongest and most organized.

3. The XP required to level in R grade levels goes up severely compared to before. It's like Old L2 (Pre-High 5) XP rates in those levels. The only reason why level 85 seems fast to a lot of people is because you retain mentor XP bonus until you ding 86. It is beyond significantly longer than 84.

145M XP is 2% in 85 which means it's approx 7.2B XP to go from 85 to 86. The Swamps daily (145M) gives about 1.49% or so (exact number I cannot recall) at 86, which means it's approximately 9.7B XP to go from 86 to 87 (9.4-5 to be generous). With those kinds of XP walls it's not gonna happen, especially when you consider while a place may be incredible XP at a lower level, you are often in the same place XPing for multiple levels (i.e. Reptilicons at 88 as opposed to 90, there is a marked drop in XP rate there even tho the mobs are still fair for that higher level).

Even barring #3... Where is the average "casual" going to level? Swamps will be bot highway. Harnak's will be camped out literally 24/7, and randoms will get PK'd out of SoA/GoG, etc. because those are high desireability XP spots. Oh... But it will make it easier for them to level up Iss Buff Boxes!!!

Frankly, NCSoft should have never put that huge XP wall at level 85. They should have just eased XP up towards 99 from 84 without the huge XP wall. They added 14 levels. There was enough room in there to do it without making it TOO fast. The XP wall at 85 is similar to old level 79 (ridiculous, but mitigated by Mentor buffs), and with so many levels in the update it becomes downright ridiculous once you get past 90.

With a double XP weekend the average player may get from 85 to 88 or so, maybe - depending on their playtimes (and if they can even log in, nevermind disconnects - every Mentor/Mentee/Buff box/Bot will be online for that event...). There's no way you're getting to 99 with an event like that unless it lasts weeks. There are players in constant groups running 10+ hours a day XP with 100/200+50% XP runes on all the time and they aren't even there yet. And they were probably dinging 86 minutes after the servers came up with the GoD update. If you think you can get there even with a month of double XP on the servers, ask youself why they haven't gotten there in 2+ with much better gear than the average player, optimized group setups and doing the best XP places in the game...
They can't change Vit to old system, that'd mean they will have to revamp Mentor system too. How many online mentors would you see if Vit was regening when offline?

I totaly forgot about that my friend... back to thinking :o

Mentor system ain't a thing everyone has in Korea. It's only for dormant accounts so there's not many mentors or mentees there as there are here.
People have to just play smarter.

My old boss always said use brain not braun to work harder.

Im 88 i can get 15% a week without playing more then an hour a day.

Assuming zero vit with vit i get more:

Swamp quest 1.1% a day at 88 x 7 = 7.7%
Swamp xp during quest .6 - .7% a day x 7 = 4.9%
Daily Mithril mine quests .25 a day x 7 = 1.75%
SoA Daily 1% a day x 7 = 7%
Nursery 1 time a day(can do 4 times a day) 1% a day x 7 = 7%

So assuming no vit at 88 without grinding I can get 28.35% I usually am +15% - 18% a week because of death and wars without actually grinding at all.

Throw a grind night or 2 in there Im easily making 35% - 40% a week.

Nevermind I get about 2.5 mil adena a day from quest rewards and if im lucky a lot more from SoA quest.

So at minimum im making more then its costing me in shots a week at 15 - 20 mil adena.
what i don't understand is why play on official if you came from a pvp server(i assume since no one used to play in official hi5- or x1/2 servers would post this).

in l2 levels always had made minimal difference in pvp, ok sure that 90 dude have more skill power than you an maybe a couple of more skills and some stats more but that it is (yes you wont hit 90 and magically 1 shot every 85 around).

there is only 1 thing is this game that make the diff in pvp and is named gear and elements(and ofc knowing your class), for example a feoh lvl 85 with tw 120 elements robe set with an apo buster +300 element +4 will own like a puppy dog any feoh level 90 in immo + requiem non elemented hands down in a couple of crits.

so stop whining cuz is a lot faster reach 99 in god than reach 85 in hi5 in the same timeframe and get a decent colaborative clan and start farming gear and elements and stop the xp rush whines or wait for your pvp server to upgrade to god(ish) l2j there you can reach 99 in 3 mobs and start spawn killing lvl 1 chars with old pk system

There's noone in 90 that doesnt have elements and upgraded gear. And there's a big penalty for over 3 levels when it comes to damage. So this is a very bad example you made.

go magmeld in any non instanced zone and you will a freaking lot, ofc i don't mean all pre god end of game char since they mosltly know better but noobs and xp rushers(bots too) are mostly non elemented and quite often you see a mage with half immo robe and heavy tw plate and ofc crappy elements if any.

and even been 90+ i can pvp them 1 vs 1 just fine being 86 (almost 87), yes they hit a bit harder but nothing that can't be dealt with.

on the other hand a feoh from a transfered clan full elemented tw set and blessed apoc +4 +300 element hit me so hard i can't even cast to heal my pets before i read "to village", sometimes i just teleport and see 0 hp cuz the **** 1 hitted me in spawn.

that dmg penalty always existed but is not so massive to justify you will loose in 1 hit vs a 90 guy if you are 86 LOL on the other hand 300 element in weap plus the massive horrible power of awaken skills make an overwhelming diff if you aren't properly protected and since most ppl see no need to invest in immo/requiem they wait for tw/apoc to start elementing so you think all 90+ are uber geared and pros cuz you go into harnak's but no is not like that in harnaks you find those 5% 90+ tards that know they are full geared to farm ppl they moslty know have low/none protections for crp/pvp points farm like limitless mentally challenged kids farms crp in toi 3 while they were awaken already
nvm...

Pretty sure the damage penalty was just added on gracia or freya:confused:.

Another thing, you believe casuals carry around uber gear anyway? We are talking about casuals benefiting from VIT...not no-lifers/botters.

I assume you never played top spot and just enjoy killing the noobs.

Ask lvl 90 from Chronos/Naia with full ele armor/weapon/augment how is the PvP vs lvl 95 hummmm...

there are those that crave for competition... and there's the others

When you get to level 90 you are going to quit. The daily quests stop giving exp as a reward, you can't do nursery, and soa daily gives you no where near 1%.

Also, the exp requirement for 89-90 is basically double. So have fun playing smart.

Even if you are a terrible player, I really dont see how it's possible to get to level 90 without accumulating 300 element/120 armor. Just from drops/quest rewards alone + even a handful of mentors in that time period should net you full elemental something.
It is supposed to have fun while playing a game, not to be "smart" and this is not the case with L2 if you are legit/casual gamer. Back in the time when 80 was the top lvl the game was so offering many options for every type of gamers and parties- 2-3 ppl pagan temple anteroom, 4-5 chapel, full party -darkness. Varka/Ketra,ToI,MoS,IT,FoG etc... If you get bored or don't have full party, you could always switch to another exp spot. Now the idea to repeat an instanse in which you are running in small circle, to spend alot of time trying to find party ( i dont have constant one, because i don't know when and for how long i am gonna play) just to try to get close to the PvP( which if you don't use 3rd party software is pointless) makes me type here on the forums instead of playing the game...
if ur a casual gamer u will get casual rewards. thats how mmorpgs work.

go play a single player game or first person shooter like call of duty or whatever and u can be casual and still win whenever u play.

mmorpg: invest more time = more rewards

people who complain its to slow and stuff are playing the wrong game for them. ESPECIALLY lineage 2 a grindgame.

REMOVE vit and then DOUBLE the exp needed per lvl, make this game slow as possible so the rewards and lvls mean something.

Maybe you should read my post again, the one you actually quoted, cause I'm talking about lvl 90 char WITH full ele armor/weapon, so I'm not sure why you say this

oh and as for me I have full ele armor since lvl 86, only 150 weap though... will work that out later on apoc weapon not my ugly requiem cutter

Maybe you missed the hundreds of post saying how bots have made the grind for legit players a full time job if they want to compete with top 3rd program users, if you're on top because you invest more time than me I'm totally fine with it, but I doubt that is the case I'm not casual

TBH he's right about the quests, though, but he's off the rails since some of those quests reward XP based on what class you are. There's no way an Aeore can XP SoA nursery as well as a Nuker or Archer, for example, so their XP gain will not be as impressive. Also, things like daily quests take longer for some classes to do than others. It's just not gonna happen. I've tried it (I don't even go there anymore on Aeore it sucks so much for healers compared to my Wizard). Same for grinding in any other place like Swamplands (where I also do not go due to conjestion and Wartags).

85 to 88 in R Grade is basically like 76-78 in S grade before all the XP nerfs. Easy enough that any random forum warrior couldcome here at 78 claiming how easy it is to XP to there, but they hadn't seen anything yet, like 79 was back then (incredible XP wall). That's basically what 89 is and in the 90s XP isn't nearly as trivial to come by.

There are people dinging 95 now and several 94s.

Even if you are a terrible player, I really dont see how it's possible to get to level 90 without accumulating 300 element/120 armor. Just from drops/quest rewards alone + even a handful of mentors in that time period should net you full elemental something.
Nah. You're really overestimating that. I haven't yet seen an Attribute CRYSTAL drop in a party. You have to buy those. People are paying like 500M+ to full attribute their Twilight armor with the current prices. Who is going to waste that much in an Immortal Set? Twilight gear costs a lot of cash, as do Apocalypse weapons in some cases (Mage Weapons).

60/150 is not hard to get with Mentor Coin. But putting the Attribute Crystals on (which still fail on weapons, since the Stones do I know from experience) is a very big investment. Not everyone has that kind of Adena just lying around.

Also, for leveling purposes, it almost doesn't matter how much Attribute you have on your gear in many cases since the MOBs still hit for incredible damage. I still get 1-2 shotted in SoA with 217 Earth Resist on my armor (before Buffs).

In PvP classes that do incredible damage do incredible damage and there's not much you can really do about it. NCSoft has been balancing skills around the attribute system. They've basically overnerfed Attribute P.Atk and overbuffed Attribute P.Def to make it much less of a factor than it was.

Really at this point a toon less than 90 really shouldn't be trying to be a hardcore PvPer anyways. The game hasn't changed. Once you missed the early wave to level up fast you're basically disadvantaged until you at least *almost* catch up. That's how much levels matter here.
I'm a casual player and I have been since around 2005. I took a break a while back but came back when I saw that Lineage was free. I was always of the mentality that I would never get to the level cap and I am fine with that. I just have fun at whatever level I am at and I am proud no matter what.

A truly nerd spoted!

Haha besides experiencing C2 with no newbie buffs or pots being dropped or vitality makes me think that they have implemented a lot of things that help out casual players. I would have never dreamed of being in the 70s when I started this game way back in 2005. So I think I've gotten pretty far even if some others might think its silly and the 70s are still low. You should have seen how excited I got when I reached 70! ;)
@Trenshero, crystals actually have the same drop rate has armor pieces for some monsters. Also, I agree with you, partially. If youare behind, you shouldnt try to get 120 everything element, you will never catch up to those 95s. However, you should be using those mentor 60 stones to get 300 elemental resist for pve. 5 times 6 is 300, now you wont get 1 shotted and it cost you nothing :)

Element does matter. It's just that anything below 240 doesn't matter, because monsters have resist and attack ranged between 240 and 300 in goddess at 85+. You will see a huge difference once you put a few more stones on your gear. 3 x 5 x 60 dark and earth resistance will take you all the way to 99 if you are strictly pve. Maybe fire resist for those odd monsters with fire element. You don't need to buy crystals at all if pve is your goal, for armor at least.

Requoting 1st post since it got side tracked a bit.

Vitalily was create by NCsoft for Casual gamer- IN Korea Player are limit on how many hours they can play mmo game period. No matter how Hardcore or AFK bot you can't play 24/7 in Korea. My QQ with Vitality is it completely useless and broken for awaken casual player. And NO Vitality is not to make casual player be on same group of harcore player who can devote more playhour. It was meant so that player who play 1hour a day would not be left SOOO FARRR behind by the hard core and afk botter.

With vita regening when offline in pre-GOD update, Vitalilty and nevit did exactly what it was meant to be help casual player gain good amount of xp during that 30min -1hour per charater. Sure harcore player can get more xp playng 5-10 hours a day. But for casual player that one hour with full vita would similar to any hardcore player xping 3-4 hours without vitality.

Vitality is now Broken and IS not helpfull for casual awaken player. Any awaken player xp solo/group 1hour will use up all Vitality for wholea account for the whole week. Buying vita pot from l2shop is only good for 3.5 hours of xp a (7x30minute) week. SO now we Casual using a Feature that NCsoft create to help us keep up will be Left FAR FAR behind. Either revamp the Vitality system for awaken player or remove it completely since it totally broken and every Weds Vita refill earn a dissapointing 3% in SOA nursary solo instance in 30min completely drain all vitality.

* Again this QQ for casual Awaken player, and we play for fun- But it not FUN when you are left Far behind in level and can't get in group in party matching. Since new 85+group xp zone force to have an Healer and Tank and these two class is hard to find since not many play them. Guess what we casual player love playing these two classes and buffer ISS too. Speaking for myself and my 6 RL friends who play 1-2 hour a day. We have all awaken 2 healer, 2 tank, and two ISS, we have what every group need just not the level or huge amount of time to play.

my 3cent worth of thought.

Correct, but I'm not going to put that on an Immortal set and there are a ton of PvPers with the opposite element. Putting that much dark/earth means you have little room for Holy/Wind which puts you at a huge disadvantage for PvP.

Even if you PvE there is PvP, because everyone wants the good XP spots.

You need to buy crystals if you want to get it done at any decent pace, especially when your weapon is concerned. Though theoretically you can do the armor first since without a 300 attribute weapon you're prolly better off just skipping the weapon and doing the armor first, anyways...
Vitality is joke since GoD. One refill (ok, two) per week and vitality gets burned in 30 minutes in Nursery? When its shared for all characters in account? That is joke. It would be nice if it would last for example 10 hours per week no matter where you grind or how much xp per mob you get, simply something similar to old Nevit system. But as it is now, I almost stopped noticing that there is any vitality in game because even if I have it, it fades in less than one buff round.
i think the vitality spending should be proportional to the lvl, and not to the exp acquired, i mean, the max vitality should increase while we raise our lvl, so we dont lose 1% of vitality per mob.
When you get to level 90 you are going to quit. The daily quests stop giving exp as a reward, you can't do nursery, and soa daily gives you no where near 1%.

Also, the exp requirement for 89-90 is basically double. So have fun playing smart.

1 Its not a sprint to 99 its a marathon.

I been here since open beta. I don't have any illussion of being 99 in the next money maybe in a year.

Ideally average player should be hitting 89 - 91 for harmony. Harmony adds more xp areas for 90 - 94. You should just be hitting 94 - 95 when tatuti gets here that add more xp content for 94 - 98.

You just have to suck it up and grind 99 off. lol Eventually when majority of the server is 99 they will raise the level cap just like they did in GoD. Having to move the level cap ever 18 month to 2 years is ideal.
